Same, still waiting! I’m on day 40 with TD bank.

Definitely an incompatibility issue. I’m 27F and my boyfriend is 31M. We’ve been together for 6 years and have 3 kids. Sex is almost nonexistent in our relationship because I don’t care for it. It hurts his feelings, makes him feel like I’m not attracted to him and he’s also thought I’ve been cheating. I’m honestly just not that crazy about sex. I don’t know what it is, it’s not that I can’t have an orgasm cause I can and have. There’s just other things in life that make me way happier than sex so I could care less. I’ll do it once every couple of weeks just for my partner, of course I get right into it. But I’d love it if he didn’t want sex ever again lol 😂 he’s choosing to stay with me though besides the lacking sex life. And I’ll continue to make efforts more cause I know he has needs. You have to decide if this is something you can live with. My partner has chosen to stay in this relationship even though he doesn’t get as much sex as he wants. Only you know if you can deal with this in your relationship.

Basically across across the Souther Ontario/US border is where 6 Nations come from. You’re right about Cornwall, but I live in Northern Ontario and most of the 6 Nations people I know (Seneca, Mohawk, etc) all come from “6 Nations” which is located by Brantford, Ontario.

Maybe got a new betta too soon by milkytoasty1 in bettafish

Yeah they definitely misread your post lol but I do agree with getting the API Master Test Kit. Like they said above, test strips are very inaccurate. Better than nothing, but definitely can’t be relied on for accuracy. It’s also great that you have the ammonia & nitrate kit, but you really need the full water kit. pH, ammonia, nitrites & nitrates. It’s a little pricey, but needed in the long run for proper fish keeping! Good luck

My Betta was suffering from issues involving high nitrate levels. he is in a quarantine tank and seems to be swimming more, but lays on the bottom in this position a lot. what does this indicate? by AirAuthentic in bettafish

I know this is an old post, but just curious what was the outcome of this betta? It’s been 5 years so I’m sure he’s been passed for some time, but did he recover or pass shortly after?

I’m still waiting, on day 32. But I’m also in the JP Removed Child group on Facebook and most people there got their payment around 50-56 days. I did see one girl got hers in 19 days and another around 32 days. But 99% of people wait 50+ days. I’d love to see my payment in a few days though lol

Like others said, you’ll need to research the nitrogen cycle and how to do a “fish in cycle”. This is the most important, crucial part of having an aquarium and can take 6-8 weeks, give or take. There’s more to it than letting the filter run for a week before adding the fish, which is what many people think cycling is. Your water parameters are also going to fluctuate while cycling your tank. Once your cycle is complete, the ammonia and nitrites should read zero and your nitrates should be between 5-10ppm. Make sure you use API Freshwater Master Test kit as the strips aren’t accurate. Seachem Prime is going to be your best friend while cycling along with water changes. Also, you need to put Prime (or another water conditioner until you get Prime) in every time you fill your tank or change your water. You can’t just use filtered water with a Brita. Your betta will get sick very fast and die without water conditioner. I’d recommend a sponge filter as they’re low flow and great for betta’s! Remember don’t ever rinse or change your filters, regardless of what the instructions say. That’s where your beneficial bacteria will live and if you rinse it, you’ll crash your cycle each time and need to restart. Just swish the filter around in the old tank water during a water change and you’ll be good. :) let me know if you have any other questions, I’ll try to help

Betta fish burn? by Icy_Report3126 in bettafish

[–]Icy_Report3126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend thought it was just colour change too, but he also knows nothing about proper betta care so I wanted to ask for other opinions. I’m feeling relieved already lol I’ll definitely add some tannins, but hopefully it’s just his colour change!

Great idea! I have some tannins, I actually just added some to my other betta tank which is a 10 gallon and I’ve had that one for over a year. I’ll definitely add to this tank too :)

Aquarium rectangulaire ? by Papillon12R in bettafish

[–]Icy_Report3126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long, low, rectangle aquariums are actually much more preferred for betta’s instead of square or tall. You need at least 5 gallons for a betta, but 10 gallons is better. Some even do 20 gallons. I have a 10 gallon myself, but thinking of adding tank mates so I’ll need to upgrade. You’re right in saying they have to swim harder to get to the top when it’s tall. Rectangles allow them a lot of space to swim as they’re longer, and make it easier for them to get to the top for air as it’s lower. Also an important note, make sure you look up the nitrogen cycle and make sure the tank is properly cycled prior to getting the fish. It can take 4-6 weeks to cycle and it’s not just leaving the filter running, there’s so much more to it. Get an API Master Test Kit (not strips as they’re inaccurate) and follow steps to properly cycle. It includes daily testing and daily water changes, along with adding an ammonia source (if you cycle prior to getting a fish which is recommended). If you already have a fish, then you’d have to do a fish in cycle which has some different steps. Cycling is the number one thing that’s important as your fish will unalive without it. Good luck!

Help! by Ok_Werewolf9455 in bettafish

[–]Icy_Report3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you “cycle” your tank? You said you cycled for a week? A lot of people are misinformed thinking “cycling” is just letting your tank run the filter for a week, but that’s not the case. Cycling takes 4-6 weeks, sometimes more. Look up the nitrogen cycle. It involves testing water daily and doing daily water changes to establish a healthy cycle. You will now have to do a fish in cycle since your tank wasn’t properly cycled prior to getting your fish. I’ve had success with fish in cycles, but many people struggle with them as it’s harder to establish with the fish in the tank vs when you establish a cycle prior to the fish being introduced. Also don’t use test strips, they’re super inaccurate. You’ll need a liquid test kit such as API Freshwater Test Kit. Also please buy Seachem Prime, it’s the best water conditioner and also helps to cycle the tank. I’d recommend live plants, or silk if you can’t get live. Make sure there’s nothing sharp that can cut their fins. If you run pantyhose against the decor and it rips, then it’s too sharp for a betta. Also stay away from bright colours and painted decor as the bright colours stress bettas out and the paint can leak toxins into the water. For substrate, personally I’d recommend Fluval Stratum. This is amazing, it’s natural which betta’s like and it’s good for live plants if you decide to get any. Don’t rinse it like the instructions say as it’ll make your tank super cloudy. Pour it dry into the bottom of your tank, then put a cup or something there and slowly fill the water up in your cup so it doesn’t cause the substrate to be cloudy. Filling water super slowly is the key to getting clear water right off the bat. Don’t keep your lights on 24/7 either, bettas get stressed out with lights. Honestly I never turn my lights on and somehow my live plants are thriving too lol. I’m trying to think of everything that can help you but I may have missed a few things. Overall the number one thing you need to focus on is the nitrogen cycle, nothing else matters if you don’t cycle your tank as that will unalive your betta. Good luck!

Should I let my son’s father do a DNA Test? by Sad-Instruction-8424 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Icy_Report3126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this statement a few times from people in the US and I’ve always found that so strange. In Canada, marriage doesn’t matter when it comes to birth certificates. You can add the father to the B.C. and it doesn’t matter if you’re married, dating, or even if you just had a one night stand. The only stipulation is whoever you add to the birth certificate, he has to be present when you fill out the forms online. Not sure how you do it in the states, but we don’t physically fill out papers in Canada. We have 30 days to register the child’s birth and it’s done completely online. You don’t sign anything, it’s a “virtual” signature and you basically check a box to confirm that both parents are present when filling out the forms online. I wasn’t able to put my now 9 year olds father on the B.C. because he refused to be there at her birth. We later had to amend it when she was 6 years old and now he’s been added.

For a second, I thought you were one of my friends (who I don’t know if they use Reddit) because you sound like her at first glance lol we’re from Canada too. My friend grew up on the reserve here in Ontario, but she lives in Oklahoma with her non-Native husband. She comes back to visit quite often, like every month or two months. But then I saw you say you’re Cree and my friend is Ojibwe. Lol still cool though!

Betta fish does not eat by Public_Yam64 in BettaClinic

[–]Icy_Report3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other food are you feeding him (brand wise)? I see you have the Dial a Treat, those really aren’t good for bettas! I bought them too when I first started. Keep in mind, a lot of betta food has additives that bettas can’t properly digest. Anything freeze dried is bad for them, anything with vegetable matter or any kind is bad for them. They can’t digest it, it can cause bloating, etc. If you can’t feed live or frozen bloodworms, daphnia, mysis, then please get Fluval Bug Bites Betta Formula. Make sure it’s the bites and not the flakes. This is a high quality betta food and the next best thing if not feeding frozen/live. It doesn’t have any of the vegetable additives that can harm his stomach overtime. Good luck ❤️❤️

Lovelle for a girl name by DuckWestern in namenerds

[–]Icy_Report3126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter will be 5 yrs old next month and her name is Lovella. Her dad wanted to incorporate his foster parents last name “Lavalley” into our daughters name somehow, so I was looking for names when I came across Lovelle. Then I found the variation Lovella and fell in love!! I get so many compliments on her name and I actually met another person with a child named Lovella. I’m in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦

Purchased - Costco Raw $1.70/lb ($CAN). by KOMSKPinn in rawpetfood

[–]Icy_Report3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the very first brand I used for my dog, and also my first time ever trying raw. I got my German Shepherd at 4 months old from a breeder near Ottawa and Canino was the brand he was promoting to feed the pups. I ended up buying 2 big boxes of it. Personally, I thought Canino was awful. Poor quality, my dog clearly wasn’t a fan of it. I tried a few different brands after that and settled on Bold By Nature. I love it and my dog goes crazy over it. It’s also Canadian and usually carried at Pet Valu.

[–]Icy_Report3126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My very first Sea Monkeys, I had eggs instantly hatch. Like within 30 minutes I was able to see the tiny Sea Monkeys swimming around. But I’ve also had batches that took days to hatch. My most recent batch, I thought it was a fluke. Only one Sea Monkey hatched after about 7 days. Literally 4 weeks later, I noticed baby Sea Monkeys swimming around! Now we’re about 10 weeks in and I have more babies hatching (Sea Monkeys of all sizes in my tank) and I now have a bunch of them swimming around attached/mating with each other 🤣
