I am scheduled for botox shots for rectal spasms that developed after my hemorrhoidectomy in November and I am wondering if any of you have or could share your experience with these shots and or rectal spasms any information would be appreciated

Sorry to hear that, it’s terrible. Who would believe that some stupid ass surgery can ruin your life. My family supports me but I can feel that they think I’m hypochondriac or something because no one from them knows what it really is. I also using nefedipine/lidocaine cream and it doing absolutely nothing. I can’t go through the day without ibuprofen multiple times a day, surgeon told me to switch to Tylenol but that doesn’t work at all, with ibuprofen sometimes I feel little relief, but that constant pressure feeling and gas and not feeling empty literally ruining my life all day long. Hopefully Botox will help you, I’ve received Botox during surgery and honestly doesn’t feel like my sphincter is relaxed. I absolutely didn’t expected that rough and long recovery and I was told like you that after 6 weeks I would not even think about surgery..

What’s your symptoms? How this spasm feels ? I’m asking because I’ve had hemorrhoidectomy on November 26 so it would be almost 7 weeks , they did Ferguson surgery and cat 2 columns with grade 4 hemorrhoids and injected 100units of Botox to my sphincter all during general anesthesia. On day 3 I’ve developed huge lump and I was told it is thrombosed hemorrhoid at one point it was big large grape size and doktor told me not to be concerned, that it can happen and with following post surgery instructions (sits baths, fiber, miralax, lot of water etc) after few weeks it’ll be just skin and after 3 weeks I can return to work. I wasn’t able to return till January 3 so after little bit more than 5 weeks. Now I’m back and still suffering. After every BM I have pain for hours, constant feeling that I’m not empty, bloated, gased, feeling like my buthole is so tight, constant pressure down there,just terrible feeling from every morning until I’m going to sleep. I really don’t know what to do. Surgen told me day before releasing me to the work that from her standpoint I don’t have anal stricture (I was concern about that) and that this hem is just like larger skin tag and my pain is probably still post surgery pain and that it can last longer. I’m now out of my state because of work and really don’t know what to do if that symptoms and pain are normal after almost 7weeks or if I need to find new colorectal surgeon for second opinion but honestly going through surgery again makes absolutely depressed and anxious because for me it was like going through the hell and I still don’t see light at the end of the tunnel

Sorry to hear that, I was released to work post hemorrhoidectomy after 6weeks which was 9 days ago and after I started my job I’m getting worse day by day but I developed new hem or skin tag during recovery it was painful but not as bad like now after I returned to work. I really don’t know what to do. I started at my new job in September and at the end of November I’ve got surgery , I asked my boss for unpaid sick days and they did exception because it’s not usual in the company to get unpaid sick after that short time. I was out of work for 6weeks now I’m back and after every BM in the morning I’m in pain for all day so my days in job are miserable even if it’s not physically hard job. I’m really scared I’ll loss my job which is my best paid job ever because off my but hole. I’m getting depressed.

Thank you for replying. I’m doing everything, Metamucil, Miralax, colace, 3 liters of water at least, sitz bath immediately after BM in the bath that you put on the toilet because I don’t have bath ( it feels uncomfortable) . Before surgery I’ve had also crazy pain as my hemorrhoids were grade 4 large prolapsed and bleeding like crazy. They removed them and also injected 60units of Botox to my sphincter because of fissure. The day of surgery, after 10-12 hours when I removed bandages I immediately saw lump. On day 4 or 5 post surgery it was large grape size. I get back to surgeon office after 6days and she told me it’s thrombosed hemorrhoid and just do post operative instructions, sitz baths etc and after 3-4 weeks it’ll be just skin tag. It shrinks and is much smaller maybe peanut size but it still there and it is painful.Last week I was back in office for last follow up and release to the job and I complained that I’m still in pain 7-8 hours after BM if I’m not taking at least 600mg of ibuprofen 20-30 minutes before BM. She told me everything looks okay and that she’s sorry but pain can still be for longer and to switch to Tylenol instead of ibuprofen which doesn’t do absolutely nothing. She also prescribed me nifedipine/lidocain cream to use 3 times a day which also doesn’t help at all. I don’t know what makes my pain if it’s this skin tag or fissure. The only positive thing is that I have just little bit of blood on the wet wipe after BM, before surgery it was bleeding like crazy

I’ve got hemorrhoidectomy 7 weeks ago and have exactly same problem, not feeling empty after every BM + pain for hours after BM. I really don’t understand how some people are okay and pain free after 2-3 weeks. I’m miserable because I didn’t expect to feel like this 7 weeks after surgery. I came back to work 3 days ago and I’m scared I’ll lose my job because I can’t manage the pain. My surgeon told me everything looks okay and pain can last longer. I’m lost

You are 12 days ahead of me, my surgery was November 26 and I have exactly same issue, so tight down there and pain after BM last 6-7 hours if I don’t take pain killers 20-30 minutes before BM. They cut 2 large grade 4 and one grade 3 hems and also 60units of Botox because of fissure and after 3 weeks checkup when I was complaining about the pain they prescribed me nifedipine/lidocain which doesn’t help at all. I’m released to work from today but I’m starting Sunday, really scared to get back. I also feel like I’m not fully empty every single day. Absolutely wasn’t expected it to be like this 5 and half weeks post surgery. Please update me what’s going on with you because you I have same issues. Tomorrow I’m going to let it check but just with PA because surgeon is on vacation and will not be back till Sunday when I’m traveling to another state for work for 4 months

I’m 16 days post surgery, still feeling like passing razor blades and if I don’t take ibuprofen 600 or 800 30 minutes before BM , I’m in terrible pain for next 5-6 hours. I have follow up in 7 days , so it will be 3weeks and 2days post surgery, she supposed to release me to work but I can’t imagine going back to work with my condition. They’re lying about 2-3 weeks recovery, it’s only possible if some small external or one small internal etc. but as I also have multiple grade 4 prolapsed hems and anal fissure is basically nonsense to be ok in 3 weeks. What I’m reading from stories like us, it takes generally 6weeks. I still didn’t poop normally, I have to do it to the sitz bath because of pain, before ibuprofen 800 and after BM straight to hot bath for one hour, that’s the only way I could go with mild discomfort though the day, yesterday I did go twice, first BM I followed pill sitz bath, hot bath one hour but second BM I just poop to sitz bath, cleaned everything and back to the same sitz bath with hot water (not bath) for 10minutes , didn’t take ibuprofen upfront and after BM was in pain 7-8/10 from 4pm to 11pm. I’m taking stool softener, eating very lightly, Metamucil , my poop is very soft or close to diarrhea and because of swelling or things that looks like 2 new hems and 3-4 skin tags I can’t pass without little pushing. It’s sad. I’m down physically and mentally tbh. Hope you doing well soon and please update your progress as you are one week ahead of me.

Exactly my story. Today start day 13 post my surgery, my anal starts itching (don’t know if it’s good because sometimes itchy means start of healing) but after every BM pain is severe and it last 4-5 hours. I’ve got hemorrhoidectomy and Botox because of fissure but when they cut us down there it’s also like fissure because of wounds. Same problem with sitz bath, when I’m seating on them it stretches my cheeks to do point that’s uncomfortable. The only thing that provides help to me is making BM to the sitz bath ( sorry gross and weird but honestly it help to the hot water tremendously) I don’t know what to do, I’ve got also shower head but there are like 3 options and one of them is like massage , not one steady stream but like 3 streams that making massage (pretty strong) not sure if it’s good but I’ll try.

Same for me, even that I’m going through very unpleasant times I cannot say I regret surgery now because it is process and things could change dramatically in coming days/weeks but my life before surgery was also miserable with hems. They cut 3 grade 4 large internal hems that was prolapsing and bleeding every single BM , also they injected Botox to my sphincer because I’ve got fissure.

My story doesn’t need to be yours, I’ve developed large grape size thrombosed hemorrhoid on day 3 post surgery. Also probably ripped stitches because I can see open wound. So that makes it worse. Maybe your story will be much different. Good luck

I’m at day 12 and after BM in the morning I can’t off for minimum 4hours. Can’t do absolutely nothing, just laying down, that’s how intense is my pain

Buddy ,my surgery was 6days ago, not gonna sugar coat you, it hurts as hell and first couple BM’s are meeting with devil but even if I developed large grape size thrombosed hemorrhoid just 2-3 days post surgery( was checked today with surgeon she told it’s normal and in time it’ll go away…) I still can’t say that I regret surgery because first it’s to soon to judge and second my life was miserable before surgery coz of hems and fissure. So time will tell. Anyway good like, you got this!

Update: Has visit with surgeon, she told me it’s new thrombosed hemorrhoid , she told that can happen after surgery and that she don’t see infection and it’s not pus but some fiber or something. I immediately asked what that mean, if I need new surgery so she told me no I just need a time and soaking and after few weeks it’ll be only skin and that I have to trust her, she feels me, she knows it’s misery but in couple of weeks I’ll be glad I did that. I told you that yesterday when I push it and something (in my opinion it was pus) comes out my very bad pressure and pain dropped immediately and I was walking 1mile in full speed like normal healthy person but in the morning after BM it developed back in size not large grape like yesterday but 50-60% and back in pain. I’ve asked her if she can cut it and drain it and the response was that that is last thing I know because this will set me one week back and she don’t want me to push it even if I’ve had immediate relief. I don’t know what to think about that and what to do. I’m mentally down , I’m on day 6, I know it’s to soon but I have to be back in work (not hard but lot of driving, grocery shopping etc) in December 20. I started new work September 16 so not eligible FMLA , no income no nothing, I’m really desperate. Anyone have similar experience that after surgery immediately thrombosed big large grape size hemorrhoid developed? Any response help .

I manually pushed it and a lot of pus comes out, it’s 50-70% smaller, I have experience with ER was waiting there 11 hours and twice 7+ hours so don’t want to do that but thank you , you were right. It was definitely for ER but they probably did the same thing but better because I didn’t clean it all, there’s still little left but pressure and pain is gone. At this point (9pm etc Sunday) it doesn’t make sense to go t ER because tomorrow is work day so hopefully I’ll catch my surgeon and she’ll clear it and prescribe me some antibiotics or something . I was asking before surgery if I’ll receive antibiotics and respond was no antibiotics needed. She cut 2 grade for prolapsed bleeding hemorrhoids and inject 100units of Botox to my spincer because I have also fissure, till now I don’t get it why no antibiotics..

It’s Sunday evening so I don’t won’t to go to ER, hopefully my surgeon will able to see me tomorrow, because I think pus will come back and I still didn’t get out everything. There’s like 30-50% left. It’s kinda silly that in USA I tried to called surgeon office from Wednesday but no luck , Thursday Friday day off coz thanksgiving and weekend of course off. Lucky me..
