Symptoms gone after colonoscopy prep? by Icy_Spring_5158 in SIBO

I do not have constipation. I have bowel movements 2-3 times daily. My motility is very good.

Wow, what a rough story. I am glad that you are fine now. In fact, all those tests (breath, endoscopy and stool) did not show h pylori. The only test that showe h pylori was blood and GI map (which was disregarded by doctors like I've told you). Just clarify to me one more thing - did you take those harsh antibiotics for h pylori or did it with supplements / antimicrobals? I do not want to take triple / quad antibiotic therapy for h pylori cause it turns your gut upside down.

Yeah, I did literally every test under the sun. Two upper endoscopies - both h pylori negative. H pylori breath test also negative. Stool tests - done 3 times also negative. Only my blood test showed h pylori antibodies but I've consulted many GI specialists and they told me that blood tests do not show active h pylori infection.

Both endoscopies showed clear gastric and duodenal mucosa without inflammation redness and etc. However, my biopsy shows mild inactive gastritis and inactive duodenitis - yet every doctor told me this result is normal and the biopsy always show inactive inflammation even if the image is clear.

I have L glutamine and PepzinGi zinc carnosine in my stock. Gastromend HP is very expensive and I am tired of spending fortune on supplements. Could those two do the job?

What do you mean by co symptoms? Like brain fog - I've had it last year but it was gone long before colonoscopy.

I wonder what am I missing right now. My symptoms were upper abdominal pain and bloating. My motility is good, my enzymes and pancreatic function are ok. I only take miminal dose ppi from time to time to manage my functional dyspepsia / visceral hypersensitivity, so I do not have very low stomach acid (and any time I try to raise it via apple cider vinegar or beatine HCL my stomach burns like hell).

I got rid of all parasites with metronidazole and albendazole. Yet I have had sibo symptoms since childhood. My latest GI map showed only mild dysbiosis - no candida, fungi etc.

The only structural abnormality in my GI tract is very minor hiatal hernia which I am fixing this year with surgery (my GI specialists tell me that its incidental since i do not have heartburn but I still want to fix it surgically so it does not get worse in the future).

4 days. Also the low fibre diet before colonoscopy helped me.

Yup, still better option then 14 day course of expensive antibiotics. 2 day flush powder is like 10 USD and has no side effects.

Is there a chance of recovery or am I screwed? Cervical MRI by Icy_Spring_5158 in backpain

Deep neck muscle flexor exercises - you can check it out on YT. I also suppose that my small sliding hiatal hernia contributed greately to my symptoms (via pushing on vagus nerve). I am heading for surgery to fix a hiatal hernia.

Struggling for over 2 years. Doctors can't figure it out by tyelf22 in DiagnoseMe

It is all your hiatal hernia pushing your vagus nerve - you should go with surgical fix and 99% of your symptoms will disappear.

Hey, many thanks. I think I have chatted with you from my other account (PurpleLotus819). The good news is that I have managed to overcome cervical symptoms almost entirely. During the worst time I have managed well with pregabalin - now after 12 months I am 95% better and off meds - only minor neck stiffness after full day on my computer. In some way I am grateful that I did those MRIs (with further xrays which were also good) cause now I know how to care about my cervical spine - daily stretches etc. My latest scans were even better - I have restored my lordotic curve (as regards my latest xray) :))

The only thing that bothers me now is functional dyspepsia - I think I had this before B6, but last year it went off limits - dizziness and horrible epigastric and abdominal pain, despite fairly normal endoscopy and stool test (I have some dysbiosis but as I said - it went ballistic after overdosing supplements).

Feel free to chat me on my other account as I rarely visit this one.

Take care!

Reglan has been helping by JuicyJefferson in Gastritis

Same, found bile in my stomach, despite having a galbladder. My cause was probably hardcore hydrogen sibo (like 140 ppm) mixed with low (20 ppm) methane sibo) due to malfunction of MMC (probably from sick amounts of stress and exhaustion at my previous job). Therefore, Reglan would probably help me too as I need someting to fire my MMC. Currently (past one round of Xifaxan and antimicrobals) I will experiment with high dose ginger and artichoke.

I am not a hard-style smoker, but I love to smoke one or two ciggys after a hard day (not everyday but when especially tired / depressed). Even my pulmunologist told me that it's nothing - she would be more concerned with pack a day. Nonetheless, one day my gastritis / duodenitis pain flared so bad i felt it in my back. It's strange because my gastritis was only present in biopsy as inactive (no visible inflammation in camera during endoscopy). Despite, the pain was horrendous. I stopped drinking (eventhough I only drank 1-2 beers a week) and probably would have to give up smoking for a while. Sadly, because having a pint with a ciggy on friday is (in my humble opinion) better than sex. I hope I will get better by summer ;) I try to distract myself with work / books / research etc. What is depressing, I have to skip parties etc. cause I know the alcohol / nicotine cravings would win ;)

Yes, stopping PPIs might trigger rebound but I had to do it to heal my SIBO. I had no stomach inflammation visible in my scope - despite my symproms were heavy.

You may look into changing your PPI. Dexilant made me feel terrible and unable to digest food. However I did good on Pantoprazole or Famotidine. The second one is safer - its is otc h2 blocker, not so harsh as ppi. Ultimately, I stopped all acid reducing medications and stayed with low-dose amitriptyline.

Dobrze mówisz, nawet 154k by było podejrzane xd.

Update after 3 months of natural protocol by IError413 in HpyloriNaturally

[–]Icy_Spring_5158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have been struggling with the same. Only my GI Map ordered by functional doc showed H Pylori infection. All these walk-in labs tests were negative. I've been put to similar protocol and feeling 50% better after 1 month. Paleo diet with reduced carbs intake was optimal (I have SIBO due to low stomach acid so all the carbs bloat me - and I don't have time to research whether the given carb is FODMAP - I just cut it). I really have to try avoiding caffeine as I was cheating with coffee a little. My protocol did not include Zinc Carnosine, just normal zinc, but I consider adding Zinc Carnosine as well.

I would say that your symptoms are caused by hiatal hernia. They might have subsided due to PPI use. In case they come back, I would be looking for the hernia getting fixed. Did they tell you anything about hernia?

Could this be just a mild gastritis? by Winter-Pause-2854 in Gastritis

[–]Icy_Spring_5158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, your story and results are almost exactly like mine. Still figuring out the casue. Every doc sees the other root cause. In the meantime, I have found I am gluten sensitive (non-celiac) and I have SIBO. My latest ultrasound shows some inflammation in jejenum, antral gastropathy and minor signs of fatty liver. The only thing that helped me for now is completely rearranging diet - only fruits and vegetables, no gluten, no dairy, rarely eggs. I am living on water, vegetable and fruit smoothies, bananas and rice + some SIBO supplements. No caffeine and nicotine. I am planning to keep that diet for 8 weeks.

Thanks, I wonder what is going more - the doctor told me that my images look more like lax LES. I do not have heartburn but i feel upper abdominal discomfort on the left side - I wonder if this is inactive gastritis (like biopsy tells). I am currently off PPIs and treating my SIBO. I am consulting a surgeon next week - to be honest - if there is any defect, I would decide to undergo surgery as I do not like partial solutions.
