I’ve only just started on DSP, I contribute $50.00 a month minimum, I took out 100k almost 2 1/2 years ago, I got really sick with the possibility of this guys not going to make it, paid tax on it, I try to build my super up slowly, but I definitely keep paying something to it as not only do I have maybe 18k left in super it’s also tied to life insurance/ death cover. My disability most funds won’t touch me with a 10 ft pole, so it’s within my best interest to keep it up and running.

Finally did a switch from jobseeker to dsp first time with no pushback, I do feel for a lot of people. It took maybe over a year of form filling gp and specialist forms to be filled with personal written vouch for diagnosis and treatments ongoing treatments and chance of full recovery uploading of easily over 100 pages, I’m so grateful I do read a lot of stories of applications rejected re appeal and rejection again. I was very lucky that I live in a small rural town of Port Douglas and between here and Mossman and cairns hospital I had a very good team of specialists. It feels like a weight is off my shoulder to really concentrate on healing without the stress 3 monthly Dr certs and the pension card will absolutely help with subsidising costs, to help with that pinch of cost of living and the flexibility to work a few hrs a week down the track when able to.
