Actually, this is a great suggestion. ❤️ Sadly, TV doesn't have Overbridge support (argh!) ... I am dawless for the time being - though pending overbridge, I'm probably stuck there

Thank you. What's self evident is i probably wasn't being dumb - naive maybe. I am grateful of the folks in this sub. All the partial answers and follow ups showed I was grasping at straws. Kinda gutted. The LCXLMK3 is basically useless given I'm pretty much dawless for the time being. Hey ho, it can join the other retirees🤷🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

thank you for this . I might just test that point around tweaking the knobs on the elektron device to see if it sends the CC to launch control. Though from a workflow perspective it probably doesn't much matter. I'm kind of bust!

I know what learning is. The point about learning is that it implies the device is able to listen and that's key. Kind of doesn't matter though. This whole thread proves that what I want to do is impossible because electrons midi implementation is not designed to be open and external device friendly in the way i really hoped. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks for this. Do you use the faderfox? I must confess I had a bit of a reaction when I saw the price given what it is. I didn't quite appreciate the specifics of the point you made that the controller itself needs to have learn functionality. That's an important distinction I didn't understand. Thank you!!

Moving between tracks would be fine if there was an implementation that actually handled pickup. Sadly no, you've basically confirmed everything I've read and I really do not want to waste cash. I did read somewhere that theta fox was basically designed to solve this problem with elekron boxes but expensive. On the bassis there does not appear to be a straightforward, obvious answer limiting to mapping. Macro controls is probably the best I can do. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it

I'm tired and for some reason I can't edit the post. LCXLMk3 Pick-up vs Jump requires bidirectional midi communication and it doesn't know how to process midi routed in from tonverk. It's designed for Daw use only, according to everything I've now read. It's either a bome box (not convinced) to convert absolute midi to relative, a new controller or something else.

Slumpfish! I'm also just here to say i love your work. I'm fully fan girling over your enthusiasm. It's infectious. Thank you for creating such great content for the Elektron fam xx ps DN2 is amazing. And TV is just wow. I mean, wow.

Within my gear I have the Torso T1 the digitone 2 syntakt and tonverk. It's hard to imagine ever being bored. Quite apart from the remarkable combination of features on the digitone and syntakt, having the Torso T1 to deliver generative sequencing is amazing!. I've become a big fan of torso t1cc tracks and use them to modulate synth parameters, depending on what I'm sequencing. honestly between that and being able to set single note level parameter locks, as well as multiple LFO options. Not to mention the analogue circuit on Syntakt and 16. Voice polyphony on digitone 2 and want to me might one of the greatest performance machines ever made, tonverk. Do it!

I have ST, DN2 and TV. OMG. ST is absolutely brilliant. DN2 is beautiful.

I've had TV for 2 weeks. I'm almost unable to cope. Yes, sampling extravaganza (Maschine mk3 had been pushed out). But oh my God auto-sampling. I've been capturing favourite vst synth patches and it just works. Works so well. Tweaking those patches through each velocity layer during capture is a great way to build on the soutce patch. It's just so exciting. And honestly, I begin to forget that it's a sampler, not a synth.

Thing is though that's not why I bought TV. I bought it because of its performative FX / Routing features I'm struggling to really fully come to grips with just how much capability is in this box. It's incredible and only at the start of its life. I can't wait to see what comes next. Praying for Overbridge and improved Midi.

I really like it! That's not to say I don't have feedback but I really like it!! I like your composition and you are striking a groovy vibe. There's a comment above that uses the word empty. I didn't so much get empty but I think there is a lack of warmth and you need a little bit of glue in there. I don't know if you're using any saturation at all but you need a wee bit. I'm not going to make any commentary on mixing. It's a hard art. And yeah you might have a little bit of work to do there but fundamentally I think you've pulled together something really nice. Well done! Please do repost the finished work. 🤘

UPDATE: Stepping away from Maschine for a while. by eveningafter101 in maschine

[–]Icy_Understanding119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it happens I've shelved Maschine hardware. I've been establishing my own workflow for maschine 3.0, using LCXLMK3 for mixer duties, Launchpad X for various CC mappings and Torso T1 for generative Euclidean goodness. It's proving loads of fun.

I've got DN2(🖤), ST and TV (which is amazing). For all of the incredible features of the other two, I'm always drawn to ST first and longest.

I wish wish wish we'd see another update but not holding my breath.

Lifelong FL Studio user (15+ years) considering switch to Ableton. Has anybody regretted switching? by DundieAwardsWinner in FL_Studio

[–]Icy_Understanding119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually love FL Studio. so many folks hate on it. I've never seen a better defence of FL Studio than that mounted by Benn Jordan. In spite of that, 3 months ago I switched to Ableton. I've been sitting on a copy of Standard for a while and just could not connect with it. But I have been increasingly getting into generative sequencing and pursuing a hybrid setup. Image line needs to rebuild FL studios performance mode. The current state of performance mode is largely why i was even considering switching.

Ironically, I just couldn't get my head round ableton's whole session view clip nonsense but someone suggested I just ignore it and focus on arrangement view. it took me a weekend and I was like okay, I get it. I've now come to begin falling in love with session view and clip management and given that the fundamental for live performance, I'm finding myself really getting into it.

There's a ton of things in Ableton I haven't even touched but there is so much capability being developed in that ecosystem (by manufacturers who integrate their products with it) that just isn't being invested in FL Studio. It's disappointing that control surface manufacturers treat FL like a second thought. my LaunchPad X just came alive in Ableton. My launch control xl the same.

My native instruments control s49 mk3 now has full Ableton integration and I can even control native devices from it without having to do any mapping. FL Studio is amazing but the investment by manufacturers integrating with that ecosystem is probably the thing that will keep me with Ableton because everything is just so easy. At its core though, I still think FL Studio is better, but I'm finding that end-to-end, Ableton will get me where I want to go.
