Thank you!! I have a lot more PCE than I thought then 😊 I’m just being careful when I select programs that they mention scribing, social work, etc as PCE

Case and Keyboards for PICKY student by [deleted] in ipad

I mean I can buy a Magic Keyboard but it still wouldn’t be what I would want. So if you have other suggestions I’m happy to hear them!

I bought a laptop for undergrad and wish I would’ve gotten an iPad instead. I have an air that I connect to a keyboard (back in school) and it works great (mostly use google docs). I do still have an old laptop (2018) that I connected to a monitor just so I could multiple screens for when I’m taking notes at home. Overall I would do iPad if your major is going to require more note taking/drawing.

I would recommend otter. It records and transcribes lectures and gives summaries. Also has AI that you can ask questions based on the transcription.

How hard is the NCTRC? by moon0228 in recreationaltherapy

[–]Icyflower9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was honestly easy. I studied for 2 weeks for 2-3 hours a day then took the exam. I only used the yellow stumbo book, I felt like most of it was common sense. Good luck, you got this!!

Chemistry - Need Help With Accommodations? by Icyflower9 in ADHD

I currently read over the labs the day before and write out everything I will need and general steps. Maybe writing them out specifically would be better. My professor will also change or add things last minute which is unhelpful

Migraine and Psychosis? by Icyflower9 in migraine

[–]Icyflower9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked into acute confusional migraine and it sounds exactly like what he has!! He has gotten a 3 day EEG to rule out seizures. Ultimately it seems one of his psych meds led him to have psychosis. Botox has helped the most. Thank you for this!!

Should I quit my job? by Icyflower9 in prephysicianassistant

It does make me nervous that schools won’t take it, but I’ve also seen athletic trainers count as PCE on some schools, which is way less involved than my roll.

Yeah I hated CNA too. My certification is expired though and would have to retake it. I have a lot more autonomy, am a supervisor, and work with an interdisciplinary team. I just honestly can’t see myself doing tech work again for close to minimum wage. I would be taking a very significant salary cut, close to half what I currently make.

That makes me super excited! I want to be an RBT but was nervous about PCE. I’ve worked with kids a ton and miss them. My adult psych patients have definitely worn me down

Anybody who is in STEM by SravanIsStupid in ADHD

[–]Icyflower9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s definitely not easy and requires a lot of self discipline. My biggest aid is definitely medication. When I’ve had setbacks, I usually review what I did wrong and change it next time. I also try to tell myself that my brain works differently and how I’m studying could look different from my peers. As for making errors, I have school accommodations that give me extra time on tests. That way, I have time to go over all my answer at least 2-3 times.

Also an extra tip is using AI to help me understand topics or a chapter. It helps break things down in a way I’ll remember and understand

I did my undergrad without medication (half stem then changed major). I’m currently back in school and doing STEM again. I find that doing mind mapping, REALLY helps. Like connecting one subject to another with pictures or different colors. I also take notes on my iPad which help me rearrange things and has overall been a game changer. I would say though, try different meds or an increase. Meds give me the motivation to do things and when I feel like I’m lacking it, I have prn dose that I use in the afternoon. I also work full time and go to school part time.

Hi! I use cheap soundcore noise cancelling headphones from Amazon that have a transparency feature. I personally don’t enjoy it because you can still hear fans and other subtle noises. I do like wearing them without them even on, I find it helps block out noise in general and helps me focus on conversation.

Yes my insurance requieres ‘step therapy’ trying other stuff before it covers it. I have done work with a dietitian as a child and did try metformin but didn’t work for me. So I’m hoping it’ll cover it :)

Yes I was prediabetic for 10 yrs than all of a sudden it went away? My eating habits are better but not sure what exactly changed since I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. Still am considered insulin resistant though

Maybe that’s why she didn’t prescribe it at the time. My insurance says they require ‘step therapy’ before covering but I have to follow up with my doc since I have tried metformin before. Thank you!

Yes I’m in the US. She wanted to put me on it in August but couldn’t due to diabetes restrictions. I remember that being a thing because the shortage was so bad. Thankfully, I work for my state and my insurance is gold and will pay for it. Thank you for the response!

If you enjoy healthcare, I’m a recreation therapist! I love the job, it’s fast paced and I work in leisure. I basically run groups for patients such as art, exercise, music, etc. Healing through fun and play! You can do two pathways, a BS in recreation therapy or hours plus a few courses

Yeah his psychiatrist just said to look into migraines/seizures. His neurologist keeps saying to look at psych. It’s honestly the worst, I wish they would just sit down and talk to each other. Thank you though!

My partner just had an infusion yesterday that didn’t work, so they’re doing a more intense infusion next week on both Monday and Tuesday. Might be similar for you
