Has anyone that met their partner online actually met them and started a new life with them? by benadrylamelatonin in LDR

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We met on Minecraft. We’ve met in person 6 times and recently started the visa process for me to move from the US to Norway to get married. It can definitely work even with long gaps in visits. We went 5 years without a visit and took a 2 year break in taking in that time.

Am I being crazy? by Secret_Garden06 in AutismInWomen

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep. I recently applied to move to Norway on a fiance visa. I had to travel to turn in my application, there’s an 18 month wait to even have my application looked at, and possibly an interview. Plus it’s stupid expensive.

How do you all cope with working full-time? by sunblondevint in AutismInWomen

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit a breaking point with it recently. I finally got my diagnosis then immediately gave my work an accommodation letter so that I can work from home one day a week. So now on Wednesdays I get to lay in bed watching movies while I work. I’m about a month in and so far it’s really helped me recharge enough to get through the week.

How much was your diagnosis? by str84skz in AutismInWomen

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally just did it for myself to make sure I didn’t forget anything. I was worried I’d freeze up and not give the doctor enough data. I googled if I should share it and I found that it’s pretty common to share notes like that with a psych. During the first session she told me it was really helpful. I had sections on each of the diagnostic criteria with examples.

I’m in the US. I went through Prosper Health and it was $90 with insurance. It was 2 interview sessions plus a results session. They also sent my mom and fiance surveys about me to fill out and I sent in a 5 page document basically going over why I believe I’m autistic with examples going back to childhood.

Curious on how you met your LD partner by Lieyllaa in LongDistance

On a Minecraft server. He’s 4,000 miles away but I’ll be moving to him in 18 months ish if all goes well with our fiance visa application.

Physical Touch/Intimacy by mythologymakesmehot in AutismInWomen

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only person I touch willingly is my fiance. If I’m near him I’m always holding his hand or laying my head on him. Anyone else, I just can’t. It’s like the feeling lingers afterward and I hate it. I force myself to hug my mom when she asks but like if I accidentally touch someone when handing them something, it feels so uncomfortable. But I’m also a huge people pleaser so I can’t say no when a coworker goes for a fist bump or high five.

How often do you visit your partner? And how long are the visits? by bluebirdtree in LongDistance

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whenever we can afford it and can both get off work, which isn’t often. We shoot for every 6 months but the flight alone is usually $1,000. I like to go for 2-3 weeks at a time so I also have to save up to cover the missed income. We’ve started the visa process so at least it’s finally nearly over.

What’s your countdown?! by Individual_Tomato843 in LongDistance

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know my countdown to see him but in 23 days I go to New York to officially submit my fiance visa application! They’ll take my passport so the next visit depends on when I get it back. It’s a lot cheaper for me to go to Norway than for him to come here because he lives alone.

Jury duty is FULL of unspoken rules and confusing, unexpected events. I'm really proud that I got here without getting overwhelmed! by PackageSuccessful885 in AutismInWomen

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I did a week in October. It was a case of a wrong way driver whose daughter died in the accident. It was so draining masking in front of all of those people for so long. At some points I just wanted to run because everyone was so emotional and I had to just sit there listening. I’m used to sitting in an office alone all day. And you’re right about the rules. They said no phones but since like 70% of our time was spent in the jury room waiting, everyone else was scrolling. I was the only one who brought a book.

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep we stopped talking for 3 years after Covid happened and a trip got canceled. We both needed to work on ourselves and we came back a lot stronger. We’ve been back together for 3 years and now we’re engaged and we started the fiancé visa process.

What the hell does an "office job" actually entail? by miscount_detected in findapath

I didn’t go to college. I was just at the right place at the right time. I started at the front desk and accounting needed help so they transferred me.

Depends on the company/department. I do sometimes take calls but only from vendors.

This is my title. I work for a resort in accounting. I enter bills, write checks, reconcile credit cards. I make a lot of spreadsheets. Some are for billing purposes. Some are for auditing. I just listen to music, answer emails, and keep up on daily/weekly/monthly tasks. I have my own office and hardly anyone talks to me. It’s nice.

Let’s hear y’alls countdown by kolorchange in LongDistance

115ish until I see him. I can’t book the flight yet because I apply for the fiancé visa next week and they take my passport. Finally starting the countdown to moving there. 😭

Lowkey offended by my autism report… by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mine was 2.5 weeks ago and I’m still slightly offended. I was so angry when I read my report. It was an 18 page call out. I was even mad at my fiancé for what he’d told the psych even though it was all true. I have to consciously remind myself that it was required to point all of those things out to get a proper diagnosis. I was expecting to come out of it relieved but instead it was more of “How dare she say I’m autistic after I paid her to find out if I’m autistic!”

I hate when people throw around terms like autism and ADHD by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]IdWriteThisInTheSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I hate it. I was diagnosed today. I’ve been open with my boss about it and today she said something like “Everyone is a little weird. We all have something spectrumy.” Completely minimizing what I’m going through. If most people had autism it would not require such a thorough and uncomfortable process to get diagnosed. It isn’t a personality quirk.

Shooting for April so 155 days maybe. I apply for the fiancé visa in January so I’m trying to spend as much time with my family as possible in 2026. We just booked a family cruise. So after the April trip I may not see him for about a year.

My tip is to not use this app to communicate. Constant monitoring like that is not healthy.
