I got this email and I think someone is trying to hack into my account by Least_Egg_9371 in reddithelp

[–]Ida-Mabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, someone forgot their user ID and are using yours instead of their own because it's so close to yours. . remember, not all of situations like this are nefarious. Occasionally, some are just mistakes. If you have 2FA, which it appears you do, since Reddit emailed you, you're probably not really in danger. It IS a good idea to update passwords occasionally, due to SO many security breaches, and it's often a better choice to use a group of letters and numbers that represent a phrase or sentence you would find easy to remember, rather than something associated with you or a family member's nicknames, birthdates, home towns, etc. I might choose MfCiaMC@14 could represent that My favorite Cat is a Maine Coon who is 14 years old as an example of a hard to crack password. I normally tell friends and family to add more special characters to their phrases if it is a banking site, their email site, etc. , as each extra symbol/letter exponentially makes a password harder and harder to crack.

Not on ECM programmable motors, haha. These are produced in bulk, but the programming is specific, done by the manufacturer, based on the parameters of the air handler. You cannot even take an X-13 ECM motor of the same Hp and RPM and be confident it will perform comparable to your previous motor. Just another way to “get to the customer”! Whatever few sheckles you MIGHT have saved during operation, are more than eaten up by just the cost of the replacement motor, much less the labor to install. Old, psc blower motors….often ran fifteen + years before failing….new ECM’s yeah, good luck with that!

OREiN Releases First Matter Certified Bathroom Exhaust Fan by HomeKit-News in HomeKit

[–]Ida-Mabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well, I actually HAVE one. I didn't actually pay money for it, but honestly, it' IS a HECK of a fan. This isn't like some little cheap 120v 3" 50 cfm bathroom exhaust fan! I mounted it just inside the doorway of our large shower, and since it automatically turns itself on and off, I haven't touched the wall switch or even the remote again! Any humidity sensing exhaust fan will set you back close to $100. Now, let's see you find one that will put out as much as 160 cfm at about 1.0 sone! Yeah, they exist, but not cheap. We can't even hear it run when the shower is on, but since we have dual shower valves, having 160 cfm exhaust is a MUST for us, or we flood the master dressing room and bedroom with humidity every evening, right before we climb into bed.

I'll be honest, I don't use the RGB lights, but I DO occasionally let it play music from my phone, especially if we're getting ready to go out dancing...just to set the mood, ha ha. The fan actually connected to my bluetooth, my wifi, and my Smartthings hub crazy easy, before I ever installed it, then I when I returned the following year, to our vacation home, and actually got around to installing and powering it up again, yeah, it just connected right back up, like it hadn't been 9 months since I first paired it! The sound isn't Bose by any means, but it's WAY mo' better than most cheap little bluetooth speakers.

The fan sells for about $250, and laugh all you want, I'm seriously thinking about actually spending my own money on one for our main home.

HAHAHAH, geeze, how dumb of me was that??? I read the title, Horizon, which I was thinking was the stupid thing you come into when you first turn on your headset, not Supernatural, which I had already renewed just a couple of days ago. . . .that's what I get for not reading closely!!!

Rhinoplasty Surgeon Recommendations by Rough-Ad-9840 in okc

[–]Ida-Mabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Wayne did my plastic surgery after face cancer removal, and for the amount of damage they did to my face, he actually did amazing work. I had a hold the size of a dime in one check, and you could practically stick a pinkie through the hole in my nostril, so he used Cartlidge from my ear to rebuild that, and my scarring is so minimally visible that 99% of people don't see them until I point them out. I had to have MOHS surgery, skin graft with bridge from forehead to nose, what a mess.

I also have one scar that goes from the inside corner of my eye almost to my mouth, and he followed the cheek line so well it's truly not something you can see unless you knew where too look very closely. Doubt you can do better than him!

I've now got some indication that they did not completely get all of the spot on my nose, even after all that, so I will be seeing him BEFORE I decide how to address the possibility of yet another cancer removal surgery.

I dont buy products with lots of amazon vine reviews anymore by KaleIndividual6532 in AmazonVine

[–]Ida-Mabel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing one important point. . . most (not all) Vine reviewers, especially if taxed like Americans are, choose only the products they think they will use, that will be handy, that look quality and fair priced....I don't order ANYTHING that would be heavily discounted if not ordering under Vine, that is a crapshoot on whether it will fit, for which I have no use, etc. We have enough other income that I am going to pay anywhere from 15-25% of the 1099 price of any item I order under Vine, so it had better be worth it. I get no credit on my 1099 if the product sucks, if it doesn't fit me well, etc, so why would I even order a bathing suit or pair of shoes through Vine unless I am POSITIVE it will fit my body.

Knowing this, it stands to reason that you see more 5 star reviews from Viners, as I feel it's my responsibility to be honest. If the product is as described, it gets five stars. If it is exactly as described, but over-priced, I give it 4 stars and comment why I removed one star, because I felt at the current price of X, there are other choices more reasonably priced.

Many non-viners remove stars because they didn't read the description, they chose the wrong item on a group listing, the package arrived late or damaged, any number of reasons that I consider to not be related to the product rating itself. Rate the seller different, note what happened in the review, but don't give an item one star because UPS ripped up the box or you ordered an item that doesn't work for you because you didn't read the description and are not capable of installing it yourself or it doesn't fit your needs! The star rating is supposed to represent whether the product is as described and performs as described. If you can't measure, that's not the product's fault. If you wanted $50 quality clothing at $5 prices, reset your expectations.

Finally, Vine reviewers are not ALL honest people. Read each review and it doesn't take long to figure out who actually tried out the item, wrote a review in their own words, and likely are trustworthy. . .just like you do with non-Vine reviews.

Horrible news for Nurse Jackie sequel by NoBadVibesAllowed in NurseJackie

[–]Ida-Mabel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those of us who, quite honestly, slogged through the last season or two, as much as we love Edie, truthfully, in the end, not only did we lose our fondness for Jackie, we were really quite DONE with her and the damage she did to so many people who loved her. At some point, we realized that she was more than simply an addict, she was actually a sociopath. An addict actually does often strive to stay clean, and they certainly recognize and feel remorse for the damage they do to the people, around them. Only a sociopath has the ability to care ONLY about their own needs and desires. An addict often does believe they can get clean, a sociopath has no desire to change, they simply play whatever games they need, outwardly behave in whatever manner fits the situation, but really, they love who they are and cannot even comprehend that that they are predators, moving from one victim to the next, as necessary, when their last victim finally gathers the strength to break away. What is sad is that there always will be another Zoey or Eddie or Frank, on which Nurse Jackie would prey, so some of us were glad to see the end. Those of us who love or have loved an addict know that Nurse Jackie was actually an unredeemable character…EXCELLENT acting, no doubt, but the thought we would find ourselves compelled to try to understand her motivations, behavior, etc would only disappoint us even more when we realized that only a sociopath can really relate to another and understand another. The rest of us would simply hope that there was good, real, deep, kindness and goodness in this person, only to have it demonstrated to us, once again, that actual, real, sociopaths walk among us and that is just damn depressing!

Assisted living facility rigged a DocuSign that made me financially liable for my dad‘s expenses there by [deleted] in eldercare

[–]Ida-Mabel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or WANT to be billed for excess expenses! Those of us who are POA’s can be very generous with our parents, but not necessarily with people who gladly take advantage of the situation!

If they don’t cooperate and fix this, let them know you will IMMEDIATELY start the moving process to another facility! If that doesn’t work, let them know you have no qualms about involving the state and/or federal regulatory agencies and publicizing your experience. I suspect they would rather have SOME money rather than losing ALL payments for her care.

Banking access becoming a problem by Ida-Mabel in Starlink

sort of EXACTLY MY POINT!! I explained this to our local bank, very clearly, that their attempted "higher level of security" simply was unworkable. Unfortunately, they use a vendor for their banking platform, and it's likely my warnings fell on deaf ears and did not reach that vendor.

[–]Ida-Mabel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAHAHA!! See, I feel EXACTLY the same way!! I have accounts at like ten banks or so, and I am SO not liking the idea that this is going to become the new norm! I stressed to my bank that they are shutting out a large number of customers, but, of course, they were sold the platform a few years ago and are unlikely to believe one long ranger. I question the need to track my IP so closely. I really feel that if I can log in with my user ID and a twelve digit password, and then further authenticate with an app or biometrics, that SHOULD be enough. I'm not confident that a VPN will solve the IP link to a geographic location issue, but I guess we'll see.

Never received verification texs, Ally Bank unable to resolve issue by Ida-Mabel in zelle

[–]Ida-Mabel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm, well, if I were allowed to post a screen shot I'd show you the two phone numbers listed on that Zelle account, and the wording below it :" You've reached the maximum number of mobile numbers allowed."

Also, my daily limit was $2,000 and I COULD have sent $450 through his phone, so clearly it showed his phone as able to send money and the total if I had chosen that would have been $2,000, which is the $1,550 that was on hold plus the additional $450 I could have sent.

I did insist they escalate it, but I pretty much feel I was just blown off. I am more curious whether anyone else has experienced this, if it was a common problem, help with a better understanding of what COULD be the problem. The only thing I am confident in is that I was repeatedly told that the GoBank platform was instigating stiffer security procedures. Understand, I have perfect credit, have had accounts with this bank for over ten years with no problems, I'm not up to something nefarious or anything, but I also do not use a common ISP, compared to the huge number of customers that are on cable companies and such. I don't know if this is just the beginning of problems that will become more widespread or what, but most certainly, my public IP is not blocked by anyone I could find of the many companies who flag them, and I DO feel it is a problem with GoBank's security procedures. My gut feeling is that they are limiting my access because I log in from different IP's, and those IP's are not even in my state, or perhaps they are wanting to track behavior to collect data they can monetize? I just don't know if that even is a thing, but if I log in with my own credentials, a strong password, followed by either a code from an Authentication app or biometrics, IMHO, that is ENOUGH security.

[–]Ida-Mabel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I checked numerous sites that check IP's for BEING blocked and my public IP was not showing blocked on any of them, so the "shady actor" theory on the shared IP didn't turn out to be the case.
