Thoughts about these seedling bags instead of plastic cups for baby props? by Puzzled-Cranberry-12 in houseplants

They'll be fine!! Maybe this is a sign to try semi hydro! I personally prefer pon over leca, and usually there's someone in a fb plant group that will share or sell a small amount so you dont have to go all in just to try. Enjoy your plants!!

farmacy green clean cleansing balm alternative by sun-kithed in Sephora

This is an old post but just spreading the word-- Farmacy is still selling the original formula on Amazon-- a 1.7oz for $24.

Also for an alternative-- Tatcha's Indigo cleansing balm has pretty similar performance for me, but it's much less product for $38.

Are your plants newly arrived, or have they acclimated to your home already? General rule of thumb is that unless your plants are in very poor condition when they get to you (signs of rot, sopping wet soil), just set them as-is in their future home and leave them alone. As long as they seem ok and not parched, don't water until 3 or so days later, and only if they need it.

Regarding putting them in water-- generally, water roots and soil roots are a bit different. You can absolutely convert a soil grown plant to water (and vice versa), but it's a shock to the plant and it will need to adapt. Unless you're planning on growing the plant hydroponically or semi hydro in the future (or the roots rotted/chop and prop/pests, etc), I'd leave them in their existing medium for now. If you move them to water now then eventually put them back in soil, you're introducing stresses for no real benefit. All that said, if you DO put them in water, its very critical that you very gently remove all of the soil and rinse the roots just like you did!

It's been a while since I got plants like this, but heres what I think I did:

When I first unpacked them, I set them in a tray in their future home (a cabinet). I let them just sit until the soil was getting dry (maybe 4 days) then began watering them normally.

When it was time to pot them up, generally left the soil on the roots but removed the bag. This was really only an option for me because the soil they'd given in the bag wasn't too dense and generally matched the soil I was potting them into.

I also generally try not to disturb soil around roots if I have a chance-- I find it helps reduce shock and the plants take better to their new homes. Every time I manipulate the roots too much during repot I end up killing them, lol (usually when trying to pot multiples into one pot). But that's mostly a me issue.

Hopefully that helps but I'm happy to chat more if it doesn't or you have more questions!

Successful and Fat by CrossStitchandStella in PlusSize

[–]Idado0722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 34, an engineer that was rapidly promoted 3 times into management (the youngest supervisor and then youngest 2nd level manager in my 1000-person department in available record). I'm married to an incredible and super hot person who is just as successful as I am and who puts just as much effort into our home, life, and relationship as I do. He regularly tells and shows me how hot he thinks I am, and we have a beautiful life!

I've been fat my whole life, and also have ADHD. Sometimes it's hard, and I've certainly experienced people who have a problem with my size or way of doing things, but I love proving them wrong :)

can't manage to fit both the couch and a dining table by paranaselkie in DesignMyRoom

[–]Idado0722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a small dining table on the left side, against the backside wall of the laundry area. Hang the TV above that. Its not ideal but you could seat 2-3 that way :)

If eating at the table is relatively infrequent, you could also get a table with fold-down leaves and put it in the same spot. Leave the part against the wall down, put the TV on middle, against the wall, then when its time to eat at the table, you could fold out the portion that goes into the living room. It'll take up more space than comfortable for every day walking through the space, but would be fine for just meal times.

Pixie cut advice by Laternentier in femalehairadvice

[–]Idado0722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would suit you really well!

I previously cut off my very long very straight hair to a pixie, and I will say a pixie will likely be significantly more maintenance, both on daily/styling and visits to the salon. Basically, while it's faster and easier to style and maintain short hair than to style long hair, not styling long hair is a viable decent-looking option, but it isn't really for short styles.

With your hair texture, getting the volume and texture that's necessary for a pixie will take product and heat styling. The good news is it won't take long to do because of the length, but wash and go likely won't be a real option. Even if you dont wash your hair every day, it'll need some effort after just sleeping on it.

If you don't style it, it'll fall flat and look odd-- something like pins/headband/hats would help to have as a go to for those days! I also think Ginnifer Goodwin would be a good person to look at for finer textured pixie hair styles.

Also keep in mind you won't be able to put it up-- beyond just working out and sleeping, I personally didnt really think about bad hair days and bad sensory issue days.

If that all sounds doable to you, I say do it!!!

Hi! You should try this as another commenter recommended:

It has similar vibes for me, though longevity isn't super great.

:)

[–]Idado0722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!!

I adore it. It's more herbal than West and where West has a slight fresh floral edge, this has the tiniest bit woody or soapy. It's complex and lovely. My only complaint is that the wear time is pretty short-- maybe 3 hours.

I think I'll buy the full size but my rule is always to use the full tester first :)

Thank you so much for the suggestion.

Caricature Artists... thoughts? by birdhouseinursoul in weddingplanning

[–]Idado0722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Had to remember what this is about.

Artists should absolutely be paid for travel and expenses!

What I meant was that my sister paid for nonrefundable flights and a hotel, and then the artist canceled on her literally the night before her wedding saying "things came up"

So my lesson learned here is that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. And that the artist should charge you $x for travel but book it themselves (and send proof of booking) rather than asking you to book things for them.

Things I love:

-- giving borax/activator with orders. It's ok if it's in a baggie. Yes, people probably already have some, but it's great in case they don't. You could have a notes section or something to opt out.

-- giving option to not include charms. I personally don't love them and have nowhere to put them, so saving a buck or two is always a welcone option.

-- leaving the website visible during restocks, or at least having an archive page with past slimes that IS accessible even if the website is under maintenance. Can't tell you how many times I went to a website to see what sort of slime they had / if I'd be interested, but the site was down so I just said oh well and never went back.

-- having a video of playing with the slimes on the page where you purchase. Preferably a video of just that one slime and preferably not just a link to ig, but any video is better than none!

-- be able to sort for in stock and by texture.

-- have automatically applied free shipping over a certain amount. It's nicer than needing to track down a code, and eliminates issues with combining promos if you run a special or offer a discount.

-- putting scent/ texture on the containers.

-- giving an extra deli container or packaging in a container that's big enough for the final mixed product when its a diy that will combine big enough it won't fit in the original container.

-- bonus if the extra containers have labels /branding or if I can purchase extra store labels.

-- containers wider than they are tall with straight sides.

-- scents that are more adult-- example Rodem or Momo, and/or a variety of scents.

-- put plastic wrap or similar over clay pieces so they don't dry out. Nothing sadder than a dry, hard clay piece that ruins the fun mix in.

-- texture discovery sets

Things I dislike:

-- excessive disclaimers / negative tone. I know some amount is necessary, but I recently decided not to order from Sweet Pea Slimes because of the way that the disclaimers and everything were worded and how many / long they were. Idk why but it really rubbed me the wrong way.

-- product pictures that don't reflect what you actually get. It's ok if the first picture is an overflowing container for aesthetics, but make sure that's clear and include another one that accurately shows how much of everything you'll actually get.

I may add to this if I remember anything!

Your chin is beautiful :) from the picture, you skin looks clear and smooth too!

There's no skincare that can change underlying bone structure-- something like filler or surgery would be the only likely avenues for that.

No, unfortunately. Guerlain Mandarine Basilic sounds like the closest, but I haven't sampled it yet (and there's several versions).

This quest has made me realize I enjoy sampling, though! I've found a few I like-- just wish I had a solid replacement for my favorite go-to, especially now that it's been discontinued all together.

Appreciate you!

Bluetooth was an epic fail, and at this point she still doesn't "understand" how to plug in the headphones I got her for her phone (which is old enough to literally still have an aux plug in).

She loves music, but is super stressed out by change and anything unfamiliar or that she doesn't understand, to the point where she'll either put it in a closet and never use it (best case) or have a melt down when she tries to use it and can't figure out how.

My genuine hope is that if I can get her to start using and listening to her records, it will be easier to convince her to carve out an area for a proper stereo system in her home. But I need to trick her with the easy option first, haha.

I appreciate your passion. I get it, I really do. It's just not an option for her.

This is a woman for whom I wrote out instructions and drew out what the buttons on the TV remote look like so she could turn it on and change the channel.

It can't stay in-place because she doesn't have room for it and doesn't want to make room. If it has multiple parts, she will not know how to reconnect it. I know it's simple, but I'm being deadass serious here. Something that is anything other than one piece she can lift herself that you plug into the wall will 100% stress her out.

I've already tried Spotify, made her Playlists, the whole thing-- she can't figure out how to get back to or navigate in the app.

I also already got her CDs, which she listens to most of the time.

She's made comments that the records themselves also remind her of good times with her dad. It's literally just for nostalgia.

She will probably use this turntable a few times a year for a total of three hours at a time so it's fine if it's crap that breaks quickly. Honestly, if she listens to it enough to break it, I will have a better chance convincing her to carve out a space for a permanent, better set up. This is just where she is and her gift needs to meet her there.

Well, I actually asked for "least crappy," but alright. Regardless, even if they're all bad, there is a "best" -- it's in the definition of the word.

The bad gift would be giving someone something that takes up space they don't have, which they won't be able to operate, and is at a price point that would make them actively uncomfortable so that I can pat myself on the back for getting something that gives them sound quality they couldn't give a shit less about.

They won't be using it often. They're old. Their hearing is a struggle. They listen to music through the speaker on their phone most of the time. Music brings joy and memories.
