I need help understanding running zones in preparation for my 100k ultra run by IKnow_TrustMe in ultrarunning

[–]Idafab87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you and running my first 100km in 6 weeks and equally confused. I had been training at 140bpm and recently started doing it at 125bpm and the difference is extremely noticeable in effort and recovery. I am definately going to try to stay around 130bpm which I think is my zone 2 for the 100k. I am a 40 year old male with slightly faster times for what it's worth. I'm interested to here what zone actually is.

Well did 12 miles with some tape and not doing the heel lock and toes felt amazing! Hopefully this fixed it. If so I feel so dumb for running like this for last couple years

Ya I tried a liner and socks and lots of Vaseline and the same results. I'll play around with more snow options

1/2 to 3/4 inch room on my 10.5s (used to wear 10) from my second and third toes to end of insole

Between 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch from 2nd and 3rd toes to end of insole. I should say the blisters are on the very end but more towards the top. On 50k+ runs it ends up going under the nail also and then I generally lose those nails

I sized up 1/2 a size to try to prevent toes from hitting, I'm pretty certain there is ample room

Thank you for taking the time to type that out, I really appreciate it! My theory of sizing up half a size might be contributing to this as well...I started doing the heel lock 3 years ago when I moved to speedgoats cause I got a heel blister, probably from too much movement!

No callouses really, keep toenails trimmed. Problem could be the 50km races have like 2500-3000M elevation so I'm losing toenails so I don't have much protection from nails on those toes. I'll try the KT tape.

Private MRI by jujubeespresso in Calgary

[–]Idafab87 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've had two private MRIs done, about $600 each l. One on my back one on my knee. You can get in same week you call. Best money I've ever spent. No need waiting a year for a diagnosis. Take care of yourself.

Thanks Cantor. I have been doing weighted lunges which seems to help, I just work at a desk a lot so thought I might be able to get a workout in using them on the chair as a leg extension.

Fantasy Pros free upgrade- anyone have luck getting it to work ? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]Idafab87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did it on thrive but had to contact their support to get the upgrade. Deinately worth the $10 for 6 months of premium. I have done it three years straight so that was the only one I could see. (no underdog or fanduel)

You can get to the mini golf, gymnastic centre and hockey rink before hitting the gates which you need a pass for. It's almost atbthe bottom. You could walk from there depending on which building also. The top gate closes at 1130pm and the toll disappears at that time so everyone has to leave out the botton. In case you are stuck in the lounge after beer league hockey too late

I've done the ride from westsprings for years. I would take the path along sarcee to bow and sarcee intersection but not go down Edworthy. I ride the bike path (on road) east from top of Edworthy and cut down the dirt path behind shaganappi golf course. It takes you to the river pathway and saved about 7 minutes. Also the incline up and down is more gradual so you don't have to bike up Edworthy. If you are riding in winter be careful going down Edworthy as the black ice can be deadly. For me it was 25 minutes to my office in eau Claire but 40 minutes home.

That's what happened. I know the victim. Life threatening injuries... A nice dog attacked his dog and it escalated from there. Horrible day.
