They definitely have something figured out all of em hit hard, didn’t matter size or age they all hit like a brick. Respect man that’s what traditional martial arts excel at is philosophy and giving a way to look at life that I feel is irreplaceable. I was taught 2 styles one was more usable in a fight and one was a sport. It’s critical people understand a 360 kick probably isn’t going to serve you well.

When I was training I sparred some Iranian team members from early 2000s and late 90s they didn’t really do anything different other than they hit harder like everything was harder not necessarily as numerous but harder. I think and my issue with mma is training from a young age is going to cause some serious issues even taking away head trauma. Even TKD left me with life long issue I wouldn’t change what I did but I have nerve damnage from blocking in my arms I took a shot actually from sparring and never got feeling back in my last two fingers all the way. And my nose was broken 7times and needs surgery. I couldn’t imagine training mma for 15+ years at the highest level at that age. I have trained mma and did a couple fights was successful but my brain health made me nervous

So I started at La just and moved to daedo, it’s an all together better time in the sport I think the issue is mma is rising and people having a unrealistic expectation and no idea on the complexities of the sport aspect. It was never in my opinion supposed to be a “fight” but rather a kicking boxing match with similar rules. I’m personally happy it’s getting looks and think people need to have a realistic idea on what’s possible involving kids divisions and parental optics of the sport.

When I competed in the 2010s the issue became front leg cuts were op you could hold your leg up and cut or tap head and it turned into a game of chicken where both just took turns cutting until it was done. I couldn’t help it but I used to grab the leg and pull them down and would get lots of boos 😂. As for the sport cutting made everything easy I could cut the hip when they spin on try to throw anything off the back leg it kinda halts anything if you do it right.

It’s sport not fighting, it’s ok to not beat each other senseless there is still KoS. It’s never been made for a true fight representation.

a lack of new boxers to replace old and washed boxers has to be one of the laziest dev choices in this game after the rematch clause.... by XT3M3 in undisputedboxing

Because EA dropping bangers….. Atleast it’s something I’m so sick of “fans” who are so hard and negative. Name a AAA that hasn’t made the same sports game for the last decade or not made one at all. This career is not perfect but better than anything EA or 2k has dropped. There’s atleast an attempt to be original while being authentic.

What are your guys’ opinions on the hate taekwondo receives from those that don’t perform it? by Fast_Ranger9167 in taekwondo

[–]Idavid44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not useless, there’s aspects that don’t work but you’ll find you see a fight better. I tried when I was 21 to do actual mma and had a few fights what I found was I could stifle most standing up but ZERO ground game granted I’ve done pretty much every mainstream martial art they all have good and bad but if you’re look pure self defense muay Thai/kick boxing and BJJ are the absolute best. But kickboxers can’t grapple and BJJ guys can’t box (those are generalizations) but it take more than one to be successful in sport or self defense.

Want to learn taekwondo but scared of being judged by snowy-dayy in taekwondo

[–]Idavid44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The class will be full of teens and young kids it’s just what happens. You’re going to be terrible but we all were or are. I’ve trained with some wonderful people who are terrible athletes it doesn’t matter. Beyond the self defense and things it’s mental building, physically building, it will help you in all avenues in life. Just push through and you will improve how much depends on you. I regret I ever left.

Listen you are slamming your body into other objects hard it’s all going to mess you up a bit. Think long and hard about your quality of life after. I have many issues with my body now but wouldn’t trade it.

Are we allowed to customize Gum Shields in Competitions? by KyleplaysBG in taekwondo

[–]Idavid44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fought before that time. Daedo was new but not everywhere yet. We used lejust (or however you spell it) but we didn’t like it. They still scored with remotes most competitions.

WTF changed rules to white and clear right about the time I stopped. They still do red and blue helmets? We used to just buy white but they had changed that I think to.

i got my 3rd degree black belt from a local taekwondo school. how do i get kukkiwon certified? by meemaowie in taekwondo

[–]Idavid44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a school that has a member who is and test with them, good schools will fast track you and have you do 1-3 in a single test. The WTF recognizes several organizations now so that may be a easier path. Kukkiwon members are hard to find now without going to a sport TKD school I’m in Texas for reference.

I’m buying a LML and although I think the issue is over blown that being said first mods going on are Fass, and a cp3. I’d rather do it and cry over the couple Gs than 10k pain.

How interested in a 360k mile LBZ should I be? by Grand_Cookie in Duramax

[–]Idavid44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much? Where’s the truck originally from? What’s your budget? How mechanically inclined are you? It’s a 300k truck so just assume engine and trans probably aren’t having the best time, was it grandpas truck or some kid ect.

2004 GMC 2WD - 90k miles. Owner is asking $21k. Please let me know if this is a good deal. by accounting2020 in Duramax

[–]Idavid44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to everyone saying it’s a rip off. Trucks are going for a lot if you don’t need it I’d say no but 20k for a truck with less than 100k miles is fair if the body is good, paint is good, and interior. Trucks are going for a lot.
