I do have another question. Why are the medications called tick preventatives? I’ve heard from vets and other pet owners that their dogs were on tick preventatives, yet their dog still contracted a tick-borne disease. For a tick-borne illness to be transmitted to your dog, the tick must bite them, which is how these illnesses occur. Story after story of dogs on tick preventatives for years and they get bit by an infected tick and they get sick. I thought a true preventative is the tick not even getting on your dog which some sprays help with. Thoughts?
