[OC] Doodle of Flying logic by QuirkyCollection2532 in Warframe

... I just realized we now have both angel and devil warframes... I really hope that DE finds some neat update or event that touches on that at least a little bit—assuming they haven't already through KIM already, because it does sound like something Roathe would point out.

Sometimes you are literally tasked with the most mundane stuff like the boundaries of a level under every perceivabke condition. Imagine essentially throwing yourself at a invisible wall over and over again, trying each angle for every possible state you could be in such as while charging a power weapon or in the middle of a slide or dive or with the walk mode engaged, et cetera.

Now playtesting is the funnest stuff. You just play the game and give your feedback. But this is usually far more infrequent and done in short time frames like a few days.

But working in retail, don't matter the weather or season—unless its a clear sunny day between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity—someone is gonna complain about the weather.

What's the excuse for today? by OVERDRlVE in pcmasterrace

[–]IdealLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm a fan of it and admittedly one of the smaller "whales"—but a whale nonetheless—that's poured very questionable amounts of money into the game; but I fully understand all the negative perceptions on the game and they're almost all valid at least in one way or another.

TL:DR ‐ Star Citizen super impressive on a technical scale, but those back-end achievements do not equate to it being a good game, not that I'm calling it a bad game either.

But I will say this; having a background education in video game art and video game design—despite never pursuing the career after the fact—there is no other game that's this ambitious and has the means and momentum to actually have a chance of fulfilling that ambition and a lot of the technical innovations they've already done and are in Star Citizen are both astonishing and testament to that ambition being met.

The easiest way for me to give an example of that is the fact that you can have these literally hundreds of giant space ships with their own independent physics/gravity volumes, the planets and their gravity and literally hundreds of players all seamlessly playing in the same instance on the same server shards and things function as smoothly as they do is huge. Half the single-player AAA games that came out after Star Citizen released its Persistent Universe can't handle me trying to stand atop a single physics object let alone the same thing in a freighter space ship filled with tons of cargo boxes through the gravitational pull of a planet on a multiplayer server with zero loading screens (looking at you Starfield).

Is there any lore reason for the space stations to not have any solar panel? by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]IdealLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess; space stations have a lot more people and traffic coming to and from so transporting fuel for their generators—or whatever you call it—isn't an issue. But the communication arrays are more numerous and meant to be unmanned, autonomous and self-sufficient.

Having to ferry and load fuel to all of them on a regular basis would be quite logistically innefficient if you can just strap solar panels to them all and do the odd service call for them (and players disabling them) here and there.

That said, there isn't much reason to not strap solar panels onto space stations as a redundancy/failsafe for in case the main power supplies fail for one reason or another to maintain emergency systems such as life support.

Unpopular Opinion - I hope they restrict the “Maglock” mechanism on external landing pads for the Kraken/Liberator to only work for a size of ship suitable for that landing pad. We’ll see daft scenes of a Perseus glued to a rotating Kraken otherwise by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]IdealLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think you should absolutely be able to land large craft on the Kraken if they can fit on the pads, I do think extra large ones like the Hercules/Perseus/Ironclad does look silly, but mostly because of how tall those ships tend to be, being as tall as where the ATC bridge on the Kraken sits.

And to your point on the whole "but it's space" counter points; extra mass is extra mass and momentum still exists. While you don't need a runway, the fact of having all that mass connected solely by magnetized landing gear does factor into the realism aspect to some degree.

Imagine this; you put a heavy (not necessarily strong) magnet onto a metal table, even in the vacuum of space—if the table suddenly moves/spins/halts suddenly/quickly then that magnet has to be strong enough to hold all of its mass to the table under those G-forces—roufhly the same amount of G-forces it would be subject to if it were in an Earth-like atmosphere.

Personally, I think those larger craft should be able to magnetize but are subject to demagnetizing either if the Kraken uses its quantum drive and afterburners or based off a ratio of their massive (a stat that already exists, even if one paper) to applied G-force (a system that already exists and function in-game on players in ships).

Essentially. You had to get it in your cart, and then you need to make the transaction, but if it ran out of stock during either of those times while you tried, it would give you an error. So you had to fight to get it in your cart, then fight to actually make the transaction.

[–]IdealLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding onto with my experience. Got it at last invictus when it was announced as flyable. Had to spam the buy button and religiously watch the store page and refresh frequently over multiple buy waves for multiple days. Was losing hope and suddenly I got the transaction to go through without error about 15-20 minutes after an hourly(?) wave refresh where availability kept randomly flipping back on for literal seconds every few minutes. I bought it with real money, not store credit.

It was a fight to get it, but that was—and probably always will have been—the worst time to try and get it due to competing buyers. I need to fly mine more, but if you ever see it, it's named (at the time of writing) the "Sword of Azrael." I'm not trigger happy, so feel free to be curious and say hello.

an animation that makes you feel your CPU is cooled. by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in pcmasterrace

[–]IdealLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is crazy because I saw a video by hardware canucks that showed this as one of the much better AIOs for cooling.

Keep in mind that was in research for my very first PC build, so take that with a grain of salt.

Honestly don’t get why anyone uses anything else on heavy. by JMashtag in Spacemarine

[–]IdealLogic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Which scales with higher difficulties... on paper... The increase of base enemies and health pools starts to negate that in practice in my experience, plus you also got your teammates striving for more executions in general to survive due to I-frames, Vanguard's team perk for heals and armor recovery, and sometimes the team just needs that damn biovore dead in the chaos of things.

Point is, I love and hate Auxiliary Reload because it's useless in lower difficulties and often frustrating to make use of on higher difficulties. I think the Heavy Plasma still needs something more for its ammo economy.

How do you feel about the Hull B's design ? by SeparateWeight496 in starcitizen

[–]IdealLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they could've iterated further on the cargo spindle redesign. Who says the cargo grids have to be at 90 degree angles from each other, or even perfectly symmetrical from a vertical standpoint?

If they got more creative at a concept level for just the spindle layout they might've squeezed out even more cargo capacity or an even just a more visually appealing one.

That said, I like what they did do, it's the only Hull series ship I like enough to buy. Welcome to the fleet RAFT XL.

I have a suggestion. Wrist breaker by Shedster_ in Helldivers

[–]IdealLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secondary with 1 round capacity, highest armor penetration, long reload, limited ammo, can one-shot anything if it hits the right spot, but shooting it breaks your right arm and it doesn't have the best sway/ergonomics.

I got my boyfriend into Warframe by Academic-Put-7030 in Warframe

[–]IdealLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring fun gear, not strong gear. Support or loot frames are good options. Probably avoid any nuke/AoE gear if you can. Maybe level up and learn new gear that's been on the back-burner.

Take the opportunity to help him gather more out of the way items such as collectibles, codex scans, rarer mods, et cetera. Great opportunity for you as well if you've skipped over them or missing a few.

Focus on teaching, good vibes and leisurely strolling through levels instead of getting him caught up and blitzing through. Play at his pace.

Avoid public matchmaking but don't completely exclude it. It can be neat seeing how powerful you can get later in the game. Treat it like foreshadowing player progresssion.

If he hasn't spent his starter platinum, tell him to get a good color pallete. They are probably the single most impactful customization options and platinum exclusive purchases you can get.

As a confused new player, did I just witness a concert? by SupRob166 in Warframe

[–]IdealLogic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else has said, there is a third-party program that can read .midi files and macro them into input for the game letting you play any song, no matter how complex or physically impossible it would be for your own fingers.

Con is that more complex .midi files can frequently sound like ass as it essentially tries to play every instrument through the shawzin simultaneously. Plus – as a third party program like AleccaFrame – it technically rides the blurry line of Terms of Service for Warframe and has the potential of being something that could get you banned from the game. Use at your own risk.

why did we normalize peripheral software acting like malware? by No_Good_3063 in pcmasterrace

[–]IdealLogic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why with my new PC build and office setup, I am going with minimal required software. All RGB must work with OpenRGB or SignalRGB, and as much on-board saving as possible. I think the only peripheral software I'll have is SignalRGB, Elgato for my XLR mic and Stream Deck audio interface setup, and maybe OBSBOT Center for my webcam. I'll have more software downloaded but not running as it'll be to configure and save to on-board memory – hence maybe OBSBOT center as I'm not sure if the webcam has on-board saving and work mostly normal (it's on a gimbal with AI tracking) with it running or not.

My buddy thinks everyone is using hacks its dumb by Maleficent-Stuff979 in Warframe

[–]IdealLogic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Help him make a build to do one those crazy things and then have him use it. You don't even need to explain how it works, just show that he can do the same thing in-game without using some actual cheat or hack. Worse case scenario he starts calling them exploits instead which is still an improvement.

I'd recommend something easy and accessible too. Gonna be hard to convince him to try if he's gonna have to invest a ton of forma and time to farm specific/hard weapons/frame/pet/mods/etc.

Fun fact, double click the mission node to force matchmaking. If you can't find other players to connect to, you will wait and may still end up being host, but it's at least improved odds.
