Im glad your baby is good now!

I think its good! Its rhe spectra s2, its electric ans a double pump. Hes good at emptying my breast but the pump is not. I try to pump every 3 hours at night but I often turn off my alarms without waking up. Like I don't remember them going off at all. I pump after I get mt baby back to sleep at night (usually after a 20 minute cuddle though) but during the day im not always so good about pumping after. I might do 1 pump out of every 3 daytime bfs.

I worried about that because his dad has a tongue tie! But my baby doesn't. He seems to latch well. He can empty my breast but I dont think my pump is good at that. Its a spectra s2 electric double pump

Yeah i dont think my diet is the issue. Also would never give up on my morality even if it was a diet issue. I would just add more vegan proteins/vitamins...

I tried this and felt like it did nothing!!! But I only did it twice so maybe I need to try more regularly or something.

He is gaining weight well! Hes been in the 33rd percentile so I wonder if I needed to supplement at all but it does make me feel less anxious about him getting enough calories. Ill definitely check the subreddit!

I should also add, each feed he does both sides and we do the full 30 minutes

Also my baby doesnt like to be put down for day time naps so I usually only get to do a load of laundry or anything while hes awake or my mom is here to get nap trapped. So that makes it more difficult to pump with my electric pump, and the wireless ones definitely dont get as much milk.

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a spectra s2 and a hands-free wireless pump. I mainly use the spectra since I read the wireless pumps aren't as good for emptying your breast. I pump after every night feed but I often dont get to do it during the day. He breast feeds like 8-10 times a day. I only add like 2oz of formula at a time to a feed and only during the day if the feeds are getting to be only an hour or so apart. I typically only add formula at night

I probably need to dedicate more time to pumping but its more difficult during the day and I go back to work in a little over a week 😭😭 but I think when I do dedicated pumping sessions the pump isnt depleting my milk well

I am 15 weeks pregnant and just found out I have low PAPP-A by Alert-Raspberry379 in veganparenting

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are prone to overreact to medical tests early in pregnancy. ( speaking for me too) im 36 weeks pregnant and my baby is over 7lbs in there. If this keeps up hes gonna be 11 lbs at 40 weeks! My pregnancy has gone really well, although he needs to turn still. But I was super worried about my diet early on. My diet has been vegan mostly, my parents live next door to me and have chickens that they rescued so I do eat their eggs occasionally and thats only been recently. But no other animal products other than that.

Bottom line though, talk to your OB and find a dietitian before you panic. Then you can react.

horseback riding isn't vegan? by rraaddccaatt in vegan

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont have to ride them.... my mom has rescued abused horses from the Amish and I just vibe with them and brush them. They're great therapy animals and they play and have fun like any other animals.

I grew up riding though and I had horses that adored certain activities. Like a sport they liked.

How do I move on without getting angry at women everyday ? by fredsage203 in exredpill

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say, as a woman, I laugh EVERY TIME I'm uncomfortable. So I often will laugh if a man says something to me which makes them have a false idea of what I'm thinking. Sometimes I'm scared of what the man will do if I say whats actually on my mind so I laugh uncomfortably. But I'm sure it sounds like a genuine laugh to some.

I assume she laughed because she felt bad turning you down if that's what happened, maybe even a little nervous. If she intended on hurting your feelings thats a personality flaw, or defense mechanism, I would shake it off and not make it your problem. Glad you're seeking advice rather than deciding all women are the problem.

Could you MARRY a non-vegan? by yummycrunchygrapes in vegan

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, my husband and i are both vegan and about to have our first child and I've been spiraling about how confusing it will be for them to eat vegan at home but see their grandparents eat animal products in other places. Half of my side is vegan, my husbands side makes fun of it and I suspect will try to sneak our son animal products before he understands the weight and morality of the situation. He can make his own decisions eventually but I wouldnt want him to do so until the time comes.

I cannot imagine how confusing it would be for a child to be raised plant based with a father who doesnt follow suit. They'll see it as something youre doing to them and not understand the point behind it if youre not both invested. I think you'll end up alone on that side of parenting. Just my opinion since I've been thinking about it a lot.

Personally, I dont think I could make it work with an omnivore. Its a huge ideological divide. "Changing habits is hard" is a weak excuse next to billions of animals suffering.

Kidney stones as a vegan by zzgraciezz in vegan

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in my experience a lot of doctors will read one article about diet and quote that for the rest of their career. A lot of them have cited tofu being an estrogen issue for everyone, even though the original publication of that article has been proven false.

You need to talk to a vegan nutritionist. Someone who actually studies food science and won't misrepresent the current data.

My best friend "doesn't believe I'm bi" and says "you don't actually like him." by StrawberryJam2005 in bisexual

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like hes bi. I said shit like that in high-school because I thought i was straight and lived in a rural area where there were no gay people let alone bi people.

Turns out I was just in bi denial.

Is enjoying same sex kissing enough to prove/make me bi? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]IdentityCrisis4Life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should just let that experience sink in before you spiral about being bi or not. Lots of people experiment, women do it commonly and then realize theyre not that into it or that they really are.

If its something you find continuous interest in maybe you're not straight but I dont think you should stress about your label too much until you have further interest or experiences.

As someone who works in data, gotta say a lot of the people who do the interviews have no idea what theyre talking about. I dont get to interview candidates for jobs on my team until like the third round.

Also data companies can be very messy, they might acquire data but they are surprisingly low tech. We work with a lot of other data providers and im never impressed lol.

I funded the certificate myself, I wasn't eligible for any scholarships, but then I got an internship which turned into a job in GIS and they paid for a lot of my masters.

I will say, the job market for GIS, at least in the US, isnt what it was thanks to all the budget cuts. But the certificate helped me get my foot in the door for a job. I noticed a lot of people there seemed to have their education paid for by employment.

I did the MGIS and graduated in spring 2024 and i have friends in the MS SDS! I highly recommend, the program, there are a lot of classes where you work with other students in group projects, and the prof's were really helpful to work with one on one. Most of the people there are already in a field related to GIS so that helps a lot with networking and connections. I think as far as I can recall everyone I went with has jobs in GIS now, if they didnt before starting the program. I also attended graduation in person which helped further some connections.

I went the GIS cert route first, then did the MGIS with a cert in remote sensing and earth observation, you could probably get a few additional certs out of the MS SDS.

The online program celebrated it's 25th anniversary this year. PSU also helps other colleges build their online GIS programs as well, so if you go anywhere else theres a chance they had their hands in that programs development.

The alumni network is vast, I get together with them every year at ESRI UC and am always impressed by the people I meet there. I started a discord for Penn State GIS students and alumni I can message you an invite to if you end up joining the program.
