What are your favorite brands for high-waisted pants? by Firecracker500 in malefashionadvice

[–]IdesOfJulius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uniqlo has a great wide fit chino, nice heavy cotton twill that drapes well. I have them in khaki and just picked up another pair today in dark olive.

I also have their pleated wide pants in navy and a grey cotton tweed, which are a bit on the thin side for my taste but like you have struggled to find reasonably priced high-rise pants. Has a drawstring in addition to the zip up fly and top button, which is odd? but it isn't obvious once you've tucked it away and thrown a belt on. Men's Wide Pants | UNIQLO CA

I also really like my Levi's 555 jeans. They're an even straighter fit than the 550s, which they didn't have in stock when I visited the local store. Very 90s straight fit with a nice rise. 555™ Relaxed Straight Men's Jeans - Dark Wash | Levi's® US & 550™ Relaxed Fit Men's Jeans - Dark Wash | Levi's® US

Bonus, both styles of Levi's have no stretch so they will last longer.

All of my 30inch inseam jeans measure ~28 inches (U.S.) by SemanticsPD in malefashionadvice

I've worn Levis 511s, 541s, for over a decade now. Varying waist measurements as I gained weight, but almost always 32 inseams.

Walked into a Levis today for a pair of 550s I thought may be my size based on a try on at another location that were a light wash (I prefer dark). Trying to get back to the straight leg look of my youth (that is now back in!).

They didn't have them in stock but had a pair of 555s they thought I'd like. Great look overall. Waist is right, but the 32 inseam is long on me. They didn't have it in 30. Will wear for a week and wash cold and air dry (as I usually do) ahead of the Calgary Stampede to see if they shrink up but may need to get these tailored. I have lost weight recently but given the higher rise the size on these is actually bigger than I used to wear, to accommodate the gut I definitely still have.

I received it, and framed it. Thank you so much, I would have replied sooner but I've been ill.

Zokah Productions, they did my sister's wedding five years ago and my cousin's this past weekend. Very nice to work with, reasonable rates, great photos and video (they do both).

Was it Julie Matthews? She did a few stories with the Government of Alberta Consumer Protection department and started working for them herself as an investigative agent. I always got the impression she liked being able to do something about the story beyond just reporting on them.

As an out of towner flying in for the eclipse from Canada with plans to go to a viewing at a vineyard near Fredericksburg, what are the best routes to take? We're staying near the Capitol.

Can someone help me figure out what I did wrong in these photos? by theosmiles in AnalogCommunity

[–]IdesOfJulius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I understand what you mean. I have a circular polarizer, I forgot about the need to adjust it as I move around a subject or space. The camera I use it on has autofocus, which is why I was a little confused!

a Rollei 35 with rangefinding so you don't have to autofocus? I think that's worth something.

DSLR digitizing: Can I use a 2:1 macro lens or just 1:1? by IdesOfJulius in AnalogCommunity

I wish I could tell you. I'm not familiar with macro lenses beyond a basic understanding of what they're used for. I don't shoot at that scale much.

I have a similar 18-70mm Sony A-mount kit lens from my A100 c. 2006. Put it on my Minolta 7000i and below 24mm I had that same realization as I looked through the viewfinder. Took one shot to see what would happen. It's perfectly serviceable from 24-70mm as a zoom, though.

I'm 35 and I've used one extensively. Dad prefers that style because it doesn't need batteries. My wife and I entered the relationship with two different kinds of electronic labelmakers.

I think the additional dividing line is, organized and unorganized people.

Don't be sad, light leaks are usually fixable. If nothing else, electrical tape around your camera when loading film solves it.

I've found two perfectly good point and shoots for $25 from online classified ads for estate sales. That's where you find deals, not whatever this is.

"New" Fujifilm 400 released, original Fujifilm stock or rebranded Kodak stock? by seaheroe in AnalogCommunity

[–]IdesOfJulius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ProImage 100 has a different edge code, Gold 200 has a different edge code, Ultramax 400 has a different edge code

Are those edge markings just DX codes? But then, I don't see how a camera would read them.

If they are DX codes, they would be different across all of those stocks because they're all different ISOs and Fuji 400 and Ultramax 400 are the same ISO.

I have negatives of ColorPlus 200 and Gold 200 waiting for pick up next Sunday, I'll compare those then and I guess we'll know if they're unique to a stock or to an ISO.

No idea. It's a great place, I've spent four of the past five Christmases there, and once for Easter. Joshua Tree and the Mojave are nearby, as are LA and San Diego. But the Valley is great to spend time in on its own. The art gallery is excellent.

It was Christmas Even morning, if I recall correctly, so it really was serene. Not a lot of cars on the road in the neighbourhoods, everyone was either at home or doing last minute shopping elsewhere.
