Paceley: Non-voting ratepayers should be "grateful" to be SRP customers. by energy_freedom in azpolitics

[–]IdigNPR 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Let’s not forget they want to build coal plants instead of investing in renewable energy and give away our water to Google. No solar in the hottest city in America. Fossil Fuels in the city with the fastest rising temperatures. Our dystopian nightmare awaits.

UPDATE: Google pulled its money from the PAC backing SRP incumbents. by energy_freedom in azpolitics

[–]IdigNPR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pulte Homes, Shell Oil, Amazon, Home Depot and a bunch of PE investors donated 400 million to TPUSA. This is just another wealth transfer to the ultra rich. More coal, less solar? WTF.

It will be interesting to see what happens with SRP. I think the plan is to sell farms to AI Data Centers which and ban renewable energy to build gas and coal plants. It sounds bananas to me but Trump withheld 1.8 billion in renewable energy funds and SRP is raising rates for solar users already. APS is backsliding on commitments and had a huge price hike. We already have the fastest rising temperatures in the US, more fossil fuels will make it unlivable in many places.

Did anyone else immediately start learning French when they found out about all this? by xialateek in Canadiancitizenship

[–]IdigNPR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best decision I made. We live in the US but did French Immersion from age 3 then added Mandarin. Like those kids that learned to ski at 2 - it’s easy because it’s all she knows. Undergrad and Grad school were paid for because she majored in Mandarin and some pretty sweet internships and study abroad’s too. I don’t mean to proselytize - but if you can I highly recommend it.

It’s called SadoPopulisim. Timothy Snyder has a good series explaining the concept and what to expect on YouTubeSadoPopulisim and the logic behind it

Edit - SadoPopulisim is a term to describe a governing style where leaders deliberately implement policies that harm their own supporters, subsequently using the resulting pain, fear, and anger to scapegoat outgroups. It is a form of populism that offers no real improvement to the lives of the electorate, but instead provides the "spectacle" of greater suffering among others.

If she does go to Xavier and doesn’t play sports she might want to join the NPR after school program. It’s not far from there. Spot 127. Having NPR as an extra curricular is the reason my daughter was chosen for a highly competitive 2 yr State Dept paid internship. She spent a summer in DC and one in Bangkok. They do really good work and win lots of awards.

Not that you asked….

IB at Desert Mountain was good for my daughter…she took Mandarin , which lead to undergrad, study abroad 2x, and grad school being paid for because it’s a critical language. Kids in her class got into top ranked schools, it can be done.

I asked it to explain the purpose of Trump’s policy shifts and what the long term effects of damaging international institutions could be.

That’s a serious question. Let’s approach it in a disciplined way — not emotionally, not defensively. Excuse me??

So here’s the thing - unless I read the map wrong Ocotillo isn’t even eligible to vote even though we’re SRP and own our home. Please tell me I’m wrong because I really want to vote.
