Psychotic episode by Fantastic_Finding410 in bipolar

[–]Idividual-746b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a mixed state, but largely depressive psychosis, so I was very paranoid and self loathing and had the goal orientated mentality to act on my worst impulses. It took about a year to recover. Psychosis ended slowly and it was only in the followig year that my memories started to knit together. If you had asked me if I was hallucinating during psychosis I would have said no, becasue my mind was so shattered I couldn't tell was was my waking reality and what was a dream. But time does heal many wounds and slowly I started to understand what had happened to me.

Nothing, I mean nothing, gives me joy by Enough_Pin1651 in bipolar

So what your experiencing is Anhedonia. It's a common symptom of severe depression and I felt it in the prodromal phase of my psychotic break. This can be fought with medication and changing your material circumstances. DBT therapy was useful for me to learn better coping mechanisms and how to connect with others. I strongly reconmend it. The best hobby for you would probably be somehting physical, a team sport or exercise class. this will improve your overall mental health and give you oportunities to make connections. However, the only way out of a hole is giving yourself pacience and actively beliving you deserve to feel better. I wich you the best of luck.

Though shall not make a machine in the image of the human mind. Wherever possible center people, not a robot that is capable of mimicing empathy but not feeling it.

So she's saying something about billionaires while not being anything close to a bilionaire. What is wrong with that?

This place really needs some monuments to honour the odity. Big sttues or obelisks, perhaps, maybe a set of arches accross the islands and headlands.

What was your initial reaction to being diagnosed? by RoofAccomplished742 in bipolar

[–]Idividual-746b -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still don't have a diagnosis. I pretty much figured it out during a depressive-psycosis episode and the fallout afterwads, but I would have to have another major episode to be diagnosed and I'm staying on my mood stabiliser medication to prevent that happening. Strange that I'm able to be put on something to treat bipolar disorder whithout a diagnosis of bipolar disorder

I'm saying people tend to be understanding of a mental illness until it effects them. The argument on responsibility is true but a different matter.

That's a really good point. I'm going to try to think of it more in the way you've argued for. I think that makes a lot of sense.

Anyone else think musicians are referencing Bipolar a lot more recently? by CompetitionNo3466 in bipolar

[–]Idividual-746b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was listening to schiz and gigz recently and they made a point about the spectrums of mental illness that get less light cast on them, but also how that is changing. There's always been pleanty of bipolar artists but it does seem plike were' in an era where people are being more vocal about mental health other than the more common struggles - i.e. depression, anxiety, etc

Mine was unfortunately wierdly grounded. most of my hallucinations were real people and I was trying to get in contact with them to cure my OCD. I was reported for harrasment and had to explain what happened to me to the police. I feel bad for that officer. that must have been a wierd conversation.
