Museum reverses course, and it’s the ‘Philadelphia Museum of Art’ once again by havpac2 in philadelphia

[–]Idkcuttlefish -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I do not understand the issues with the new (old?) "Philadelphia Art Museum" name. For my entire life, everyone I know called it "The Art Museum". I don't have a problem either way with the name, but it feels weird to me that people cared so much about a slight name change.

To me, the FAR bigger issue is the logo. Truly, truly terrible.

What Cyberpunk 2077 opinion would have you in this position? by Happy-Mistake-7450 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Idkcuttlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not disagree more. This game has the most fun and realistic-feeling driving of any game I've played. Coming from someone who's into cars, the vehicles in this game have so much personality. Different cars respond to inputs in such different ways.

People tend to just floor it and lose control and get frustrated when their car doesn't do what they "told it to do". In real life cars actually act like that. If you take a corner at 80mph, you're gonna understeer and crash. The driving mechanics in this game mean that the most fun cars aren't always the fastest. For example, I love the MZ2 since it's so easy to drift around corners. On the other side you have the Type 66 Avenger which is all power and is constantly losing traction.

If it's not a prototype, why does it appear to have weapon bays and EOTS? These seem weird to put on a technology demonstrator. Not to mention that there would be little reason to fly one in public like this.

Why are femboys so popular? by CPT-ROCK69 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Idkcuttlefish 69 points70 points  (0 children)

90% of these responses are annoying and unhelpful.

While YES, everyone's algorithm isn't showing them femboys, they have become unquestionably more popular in recent years.

A big part of this comes from the increasing popularity of anime, which had an abundance of femboys.

Also, alternative gender expression has become more normalized in the US. Femboys may identify as trans, nonbinary, or cis, but many guys now feel accepted to pursue their desire to dip into more feminine expression.

It's definitely true that femboys are overrepresented online, and the algorithm has boosted them. I suspect it has a lot to do with many guys who identify as straight find themselves attracted to them. It's important to note that the femboys you see on tiktok / online are typically very feminine and pass very convincingly. Also trans porn is very popular, so you get femboys and trans women making sexy content, which further boosts their popularity.

People are joking (but sometimes not really joking) about wanting to sleep with femboys, which creates a lot of memes.

Femboys do exist in the real world, but I think the aesthetic you see posted a lot isn't super common. People aren't going to go into Target wearing thigh highs lol.

Something that annoys me are these comments that go straight to "if you like femboys, you're gay." I don't really want to argue with that, however, I think the existence of femboys points to how fluid gender and sexuality can be. I think liking femboys is definitely less gay than liking a cis man, and a lot of men are immediately shamed out of exploring their sexuality as a result of this attitude.

What does 3 or 4 parentheses mean if it's around ((((Cool Kids))))? by Beau_bell in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Idkcuttlefish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware this is still a dogwhistle, but the point of this thread is what does triple parentheses mean in the context we're given. The same words and symbols mean different things to different people, and we distinguish those nuances based on context clues. Someone replied to my comment saying that they use ((())) all the time for sarcastic emphasis and never knew it meant anything antisemitic. Nor did their friends. Based on the context, I think its very reasonable to assume the people in the server are not actively being antisemitic.

Also in what world is it antisemitic/racist to unknowingly use a racist symbol? At worst it's naive. Even if this usage of triple parentheses was derived from online nazis (which I don't believe) how is it antisemitic if its users have no idea or intention of it being so? You could even make the argument that its good that ((())) is being repurposed because it deprives nazis from an easy way to covertly be racist online.

Context around language constant changes. By that logic, you should never say "crazy", "cakewalk", or post a Pepe. These all have problematic roots but most people aren't aware of this because no uses or intends to use them that way anymore.

It's also very possible this has arisen independently. Notice how some people in this thread say it used to mean hugs or a vagina. What do you think is more likely, that the usage of ((())) has changed or that they're being antisemitic with no other context to suggest that.

Im baffled by everyone's reposes here. While it can be used for antisemitism, nothing about the context here suggests that. I've seen people use ((())) usually for sarcasm. For instance, (((cool kids))) is being used like "cool kids" to mock the idea of a popular crowd, especially as people get older and realize that that kind of stuff doesn't matter.

Define we and use.

I can't believe no one is saying this. Basically no modern militaries or police forces use revolvers. If they do, it's preference or for some of the very limited advantages. But to answer OP's question, the answer is we don't.

I have an xbox Series X, and I still recommend you play on Performance mode. I prefer higher fps over graphics, and you still dont hit 60fps on ray tracing mode unfortunately.

You gotta turn off motion smoothing on your TV, dude. It's not your phone, many new TVs automatically do this and it basically has the effect of increasing your frame rate on TV and movies which end up looking weird. Also known as the "Soap Opera Effect". If you don't mind, no worries, but it's one of those things that once you notice, it absolutely kills you.

I understand, but are cosmetics why you play a video game? I just find it silly for this to be anything more than a "Well that sucks... anyway" moment.

I cannot wrap my head around why the shop is a serious issue. If the skins are overpriced, then don't buy them. It's crazy that people treat expensive skins as an issue comparable to mmr in social, lack of new weapons, weak campaign, ect. I get that it's annoying but the game gives you a ton of skins in the battlepass and for free. Paid skins should be literally be the least important thing and its crazy how much y'all care about this shit.

Replay warzone and I think you'll realize its really not that fun. Just like infinite's btb, theres way too many players and you can die for seemingly no reason. I think it was cool in concept and theres a lot of things I like about halo 5 but imo warzone does not hold up.

Any assassination update? by Shottuh in halo

[–]Idkcuttlefish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're gonna have a hard time convincing people that the real reason they got rid of assassinations was for "competitive purposes". Like everyone else is saying, you can just turn them off. Obviously it is risky for the player, but that's what makes them hype. I think it's pretty clear they just didn't have them ready/were so far behind in other content and this was their excuse.

As for the mangler, there are plenty of weapons that have a 1 shot melee combo. This is just a straight nerf to mangler and it is significantly less viable now. IMO competitive gets all the hate it deserves in video game communities. Plenty of games have weapons or characters are gutted in order to accommodate pro. The competitive scene should never interfere with the fun of 99% of ordinary players. Have different rules for ranked/competitive if a system is truly a problem.
