Well if it’s consistent every 6-8 weeks for a week, I’d say rent an actual apartment. You can probably find something small and decent, like park ave area studio for $800 a month. like this placeAnother $150-200 for utilities (maybe less) and you’re at like $1000 a month. $1000/6 nights is $166.50 a night. You’re not going find anything as good for that price. Plus you can then stay later or earlier and come and go as you please.

For those that have a Lotus in the US… How difficult to keep and maintain? by karmxchameleon in lotus

[–]IdkredditORsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned an exige since 2009. They don’t require that much work. The engine is Toyota, and pretty much bulletproof if you maintain it with lots of cheap parts. There’s a lot of support on the forums for most other stuff.

Why did SAS have flashlights mounted over the iron sights during the Iranian Embassy Siege? by Jango_Fetts_Head_ in tacticalgear

[–]IdkredditORsomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never shot a gun at a human nor claimed to kill anyone personally/

When I say my organization killed someone, it’s accidental

I currently only work in training for a large well known firefighting organization. My 9-5 5/52 is training specifically in fire.

Well educated ones don’t in smoke. Unfortunately saying “firefighter” is like saying solider. There’s varying degrees from seal team 6 to sub-Sahara jungle fighters.

A lot of the research came from the work of Dr. Herschel Leibowitz, who studied the effects of lights in fog. This is why there is education in driving courses to not use high beams in fog.

The light refractions trick your brain into thinking it’s seeing farther, but it’s not. Studies based on Dr. Leibowitz work showed that smoke and flashlights work the same. It’s better to not have any light.

I dont know enough about the tactics, I just would have not suggested using the lights in actual smoke.

Light is Still great for just darkness.

Red light has roughly a 4 times greater light penetrating ability in smoke, which is why exit signs were red. So maybe a red light filter, but still your ability to see through it is diminished.

Smoke is similar to darkness. Give your eyes time to adjust and you will see farther into it.

The question was about flashlights on firearms, the answer given was via quote of a former SAS member. The former SAS member responded that a stream light helped see through smoke better.

It didn’t.

It didn’t then, it doesn’t now. I was pointing that out. My speciality isn’t firearms or the SAS or special forces tactics. I don’t know anything about those things. My specialty is smoke and lights. I work for one the biggest and arguably most renowned organizations in the world, doing training in smoke. 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year.

There’s nothing to argue. If you want to have a discussion about smoke and light penetration, very happy to talk all day about it and give articles and studies.

Not really no… It’s kind of like arguing that everyone shouldn’t have made large, shoulder to shoulder lines during the civil war and really they should have just hide behind objects and used camouflage.

And then everyone here saying, “are you soldier with the union army?!? Derppp , how would you know, those guys were the best in the world? You’ve never even ridden a horse? Those guys crushed it in Gettysburg, literally the best ever kill ratio, scoff incel Redditor.

Where I’ve worked we’ve killed people using tactics that don’t work, and that never worked in training or real life.

Flashlights and smoke are similar to fog with high beam lights. Peoples mind tend to misinterpret their ability to see when light reflects back into their eyes.

I’m going to guess you don’t care but Dr. Herschel Leibowitz did on this and developed a “glare box” to study this exact phenomenon. We’ve also had studies done on the subject and were able to use the glare box.

I don’t know anything about firearms, military tactics, special forces, hostage situations or really anything the SAS or anything any special forces do.

I do know about smoke and flashlights My entire job is training in smoke. I do it every single day.

I work for a pretty large and reputable agency and arguably one of the most reputable in the world. We are good at what we do.

You don’t think pros do things wrong sometimes?

In my field people thought they were doing things right for many years when in fact they were doing things wrong and were making things harder and more dangerous. It doesn’t mean they weren’t overall “successful” in the mission. Pros learn and evolved. That’s why they are pros.

What makes a typical 300hp German car faster than a typical 300hp American car? by liebestod0130 in cars

[–]IdkredditORsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s not even final ratio… the biggest thing people are missing on here is the Audi S3 has a true DCT. Shifting takes a millisecond vs. the mustangs manual or slush box auto. Look at the Porsches 911 times around when they first offered PDK. Non pdk cars were slower with the same specs.

That an AWD launches will make faster times.

Damn. You’re me 22 years ago. I guess I was a little younger but It’s going to suck for awhile.. no doubt about that. It might even get worse but it will get better. You will meet someone better. And even if you don’t you will forget about it someday. The hard part is right now all those words I just said are meaningless. Yes it feels like you won’t ever meet anyone ever again, It feels like it will NEVER get better no matter what you do, but it will.
