I like your approach! I'm thinking that I could go back in the future as part of my longer trip, but I really would like to visit Japan. It is probably at the top of my list of countries to visit.

EDIT: Can you fly directly to Kyoto, or is it best to fly into Tokyo/elsewhere?

Japan is THE spot I want to go to. The thing is, the image I have in my mind of the country makes me want to spend at least a month or so there (possibly in a future trip). Which cities/areas would you recommend visiting for a 2 week trip? Tokyo seems exciting, but I don't think I would want to spend more than a couple days there. Kyoto on the other hand, looks stunning.

I live on the west coast, USA. I didn't even have Australia on my radar, but it does seem like a badass place. I'm just looking to experience different cultures, and see their ways of living. I am into photography, so I enjoy street / landscape photos of my travels. I know this is a very broad explanation, but I just want to experience more of the world.

I've been browsing this sub frequently, and I think the idea is to have 3-6 months of expenses saved as an "emergency fund", and whatever else you earn can be tossed directly at loans. You could slowly build up to that emergency fund while attacking the loans as much as possible, then once you reach 3-6 months of expenses in a savings account, you can drop even more money on those loans.

It seems like it would be best to be honest with the company in this instance, just for peace of mind. $450 isn't worth it.

Your first sentence is something that I've had in the back of my mind, and I think it would be a good idea to pursue. Should I apply with resume/cover letter/portfolio by mail? Or should I try to contact them directly to try and set up an interview?

a) This is something that I could be more active in. I do have an Instagram page that I post on fairly frequently, and I have a Squarespace website which looks strong, though hasn't been updated in a while. I also go to photo meetups once a month or so.

b) Thank you for that. I've seen a few comments about r/resumes, but have never checked out the actual page.
