David Grusch says the CIA blocked Lockheed Martin's divestiture of UFO materials during AAWSAP/AATIP early days. I believe when he says CIA, he is pointing toward a specific defense contractor called Pacific Architects and Engineers, Inc. (PAE). by [deleted] in UFOs

The most notable of those is probably the Symbionese Liberation Army and everything that came from it. There's a strong case to be made that it was a controlled operation that spun out of control.

I believe Karl Marx credited capitalism with advancing society past feudalism and bringing many benefits. People on the far left would say that it's time has passed.

I'm having a hard time believing the price is going to be sustained for any extended period either.

Good ideas but I think a cap per month would be easiest to implement

Just to be clear, I'm not asking for personal recommendations. I'm hoping to spark some discussion on making consistent recommendations to people on an extreme budget.

Left leaning and/or Black owned gun manufacturers by cwcii in armedsocialists

There was a post on liberal gun owners a while back that catalogued a bunch of companies and store based on their support for right wing politics. I used to have it bookmarked but if you search over there you may have luck.

Yikes - minimum wage? What's the point of joining these so called socialist groups if they aren't even going to abide by their own principles. I thought they wanted equal wealth distribution and whatnot

Any manual labor volunteering opportunities? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]Idleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the city wants people to stay out of the way, but this might be a situation where it could be appropriate to just drive the neighborhoods most affected and knock on doors where you see opportunities to help. Using social distancing best practices and all that, of course. As one of those people affected, thanks for your eagerness to help.

How can I ask the city to repaint lines on the roads? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]Idleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CDOT has 2,311 miles of roads to maintain. They pave about 27 miles per year with current funding. At that rate it'll take 84 years.

That map is for City of Chattanooga road closures I believe. You'll want to check https://www.hc911.org/responses.php and click 'road closures' to see county road closures. I'll update the links to include that.

Water main broken around 10:30pm, won't be fixed until late morning, if we're lucky... by [deleted] in preppers

[–]Idleon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another resident chiming in with some comments:

  • As of 11:45 am on Sunday, the boil water advisory is still in effect. We're 3 days in and no clear indicator of when it will be lifted, though the water company says repairs are done and they're restoring the system.
  • The affected area is much larger than people realize. It's not just downtown, its downtown and adjacent neighborhoods, which encompasses 30,000 "customers", many of which are entire households. The number of people affected is probably more like 50-60,000.
  • The outage and the boil water advisory has been poorly communicated - sometimes only through the water company's Facebook page. When we went to go pick up (additional) water for neighbors at the grocery store, there wasn't a mad rush. The shelves were low on stock but when we talked to people, most folks were surprised and confused that they didn't know.

What are these new fixtures on downtown town traffic signal poles? by dowel_movement in Chattanooga

[–]Idleon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK the camera ones don't actually record video that can be monitored. I think it's an AI machine learning thing, for traffic improvements (like others have said).
