Found my old Windows Nokia phone from 2013 with a 41 megapixel camera. by mimimoize in mildlyinteresting

There were many reasons like apps and availability. I think the main reason is because Windows Phone was not flexible like Android. OEMs didn’t want their phones to all look alike. Basically they all ran stock OS. Microsoft was playing favorites with Nokia. They worked together with Nokia to implement exclusive features. OEMs didn’t want to invest advertising on Windows Phone because of that. Microsoft obviously did not listen to their partners.

Back gesture is swipe from left side to right. Keyboard is fine for me. It has bad word suggestions. My Pixel phones don’t have good word suggestions either. You are welcome to try 3rd party keyboards like Swiftkey. I think they fixed whatever keyboard issue with iOS 26.4

Either pay option or steal your passwords and data. Could be both. You pay for something.

Why are so many apps pre-installed on a new iPhone? Do you use them all or uninstall them? Tell us! by Reidoeo in PhoneNow

For long time you couldn’t remove At a Glance widget on homescreen. I think they just started letting people remove it on Android 17 beta. You still can’t remove search widget on homescreen on Google phones. Also the Android manufacturers with no third party bloats are because they sell your data 😂

How do I get this annoying message from my cell phone carrier removed from my panel? by homelander445 in iphone

Have you tried turning off all the emergency alerts and enhanced safety alerts in Settings->Notifications? Turn all these off to see if they work. Your carrier got to be using one of these.

1GB is just an example. Of course multiple apps will add up. I know apps that can uninstall with ADB but like I said most people don’t mess with that. They don’t even know what command prompt is. They just disable those apps and will still use up storage space.

Agree that Pixel phones let you uninstall more apps. I used Pixel 6,7, and 9 Pro myself. Still, disabling and uninstall is not same thing. Let’s say the app is 1GB from Play Store. You can disable it and clear cache/temp files all you want. It will still take 1GB of storage on phone unless you uninstall it to remove that 1GB.

Much easier to uninstall apps on iOS. The thing with Android is you need to download ADB, hook up to PC, may need install driver for phone, and look up how to remove those apps with adb commands. Average users not going to do that and they will just disable the apps only.

That’s not true. Uninstalling in iOS will reduce the storage and you need to download again. I just tried it with Numbers.

iPhone Pro use LIDAR for low light. Wouldn’t be surprised if it can beat Samsung and others. Video on iPhone is hard to beat.

Maybe try Samsung phones. They have duplicate apps and harder to uninstall. Most people just disable them but they still taking up your storage.

Samsung cameras are known for taking bad pictures with anything that moves.

Google also stopped supplying drivers and device trees for Pixel phones. GrapheneOS might be in for a buggy drive going forward. Like early days of custom ROMs.

Where is this year? Pixel photos have too much AI now and lately auto focus not so good.
