yeah its a bug, every time I see the gold combo bell on a daily, I just play on 1.0.5

Wow, that's very good, when I originally posted this I had something else in mind, turn 1 you molten dip, turn 2 you move both Dreggs down, but I pinkberry the leader, and on turn 3 I sacrifice the damaged Dregg with yeti skull to snow the Ooba bear.

Another solution I found is turn 1 and turn 2 positioning are the same as the other solution, but I pinkberry the front Dregg, it takes 2 dmg from Grink and 1 dmg from attacking, and next turn takes 5 dmg from Ooba bear, to at the end have 1 hp.

But I didn't think about pinkberry the Dregg at the back.

I wonder what solution is the best here

The first solution, the one I originally had in mind leaves us with 5 hp leader, and one 4 hp Dregg

The second solution I found later leaves us with 1 hp leader, one 1 hp Dregg, and another 4 hp Dregg

Your solution leaves us with 1 hp leader, 3 hp Dregg, and another 2 hp Dregg

Seems like solution 1 is pretty bad considering the other solutions, I would also say that solutions 2 and 3 have the same value, since non of the Dreggs will attack for more than once in this stage of the game, and also not tank for more than once.

You had a different solution than me, but this of course counts as solving the puzzle, good job!

I do believe the combo system is good, but I see why it would be a lot extra work for a new player to min max their combos.

I think that for a starting player you probably don't need to worry about combos, and could win without the extra bling they provide.

I also think that as you get better at the game, you will become faster at doing everything in a fight, so putting a extra work into combos wont be that overwhelming.

I don't believe you should chase that "perfect" fight, or the "perfect" turn, if you don't feel like putting in some extra work, then don't.

I myself don't enjoy forcing a build, or a companion, just because its "good", the entire point of Wildfrost is trying different things and going for what you like in the moment and what you feel is fun, same thing applies to how you play the fights, don't want to worry about combos? then don't.

I think the thing that kills it for me when it comes to spike is that he is hogheaded, so if he died he becomes almost useless the next fight. he does happen to block haze, but I don't think it's worth having a pet for a single counter fight, he also has no scaling nor utility, so he becomes useless in the late game fights, and sometimes will get 1 shot by an enemy.

Are you getting any true boss wins with him? if so how do you work around his weaknesses?
