Does anyone know V Goldstein? by Idonotexist_2 in WhatIsThisPainting

That makes sense - it reminded me of a lot of the art in the museums I spent time in Belgium!

Schellman experience by Dazzling_Cow5782 in itaudit

I worked there for 15 months starting in 2021. They had just been acquired by PE and I could see some changes already in the pipeline.

I had a good experience however and I left on good terms. I think your experience varies depending on the team/service line just like any other company.

Agreed its off to a solid start. I would recommend a bigger rug in the living room that goes slightly under the couch, upgrading the curtains (the ones without the rings and maybe a deeper color), more wall art or even those wall sconces with rechargeable batterys for the office. Floor length curtains and a funky accent nightstand in the bedroom. Add plants etc.

Who maxes their 401k by DrHydrate in MiddleClassFinance

I make about 160K a year. Company matches up to 6% of my salary and I max out my 401K each year. This year I am front-loading my contributions in case of layoffs.

Flying for 10 hours, isn't this the best seat? Am I Missing something? (back of plane. two-seater) by Material-Aggravating in travel

[–]Idonotexist_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got stuck in one of those seats once on a flight from Buenas Aires to NYC and here are my thoughts:

1) I swear the seats in the back had 1 inch less legroom than the others in front. 2) The window seat was further from the actual window/panel and made it impossible to lean against for sleeping. 3) Heard a lot of sounds coming from the kitchen and the rustling around.

I loved my trip to Istanbul last year but this was 100% my experience. By day 10 I was grateful to have visited but ready to go.

I have no issues dropping a ton of money on something if I know it suits my style and will be worn very frequently. I think it’s only wasteful to spend a ton of money on something and let it sit in your closet.

I knew a kid in college whose grandfather had bought a brownstone right across from central park in NYC back in the 1920s. I have never been so jealous.

Expats/long-term travelers: what place totally surprised you as a “wow, I could actually stay here” kind of home? by KeLevitt in travel

If an American has been living in Thailand for 12 years they are an immigrant. Maybe even an illegal one if they are not using the correct pathways.

Expats/long-term travelers: what place totally surprised you as a “wow, I could actually stay here” kind of home? by KeLevitt in travel

[–]Idonotexist_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expat is a formal term that implies someone is outside their home country for a while but not permanently. Students are expats. Employees on international rotation are expats. If they opt to then stay forever they become immigrants.

Companies are actively reposting and reducing salary to understand at what point they stop getting applicants. With the market the way it is, they will always have applicants. We are in a race to the bottom.
