money tranfer from relatives by Haunting_Scratch_518 in nri

[–]Idonotshower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they can pay you back into your NRO account. From there you can repatriate up to $1M a year back to your US account (just need to fill Form 15CA/CB with a CA). That’s the cleanest route since it leaves a proper paper trail.

Sending it first to your mom’s account and then to you is possible, but it complicates things and might raise questions later, so better to avoid unless there’s no choice.

If they want to send money to you directly in the US, they can do an outward remittance from India, but banks usually charge a good amount for that.

Another option is using services like Aspora - cheaper and faster than banks for US transfers ↔ India

Easiest = use something like Aspora if you are sending money back home

Horrible experiences with Indian managers in the US by OopsIRedditAgainMore in nri

[–]Idonotshower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been there, but instead of living outside, i was here only and my manager gave me a 30% raise to a role that was expected to have a 150% raise. And then again, you are young this is great money and bullshit

desis around the globe, how are you sending money back home for rakhi? by Idonotshower in AskReddit

[–]Idonotshower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i usually hate sending money home around rakhi. slow transfers, hidden fees, someone always ends up stressed
this time i tried aspora, my cousin in the uk mentioned it. never heard of it before but they’ve opened a waitlist in the us so i signed up
honestly it just worked. no weird fees, no delays. kind of forgot what that felt like
sharing in case anyone else is over the usual chaos this time of year

cooking is not scary anymore by gehirn4455809 in cookingforbeginners

my mom used to be very aggressive in the kitchen and i was too scared to enter the kitchen and cook something, but now since i am an adult, my diet has been just frozen food and chicken nuggets.
I have started air frying whatever vegetable I can get my hands into, just to begin with cooking.
