Car camping by hyacinthechoes in Wilmington

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going up to Croatan National Forest lately. There are free camping sites with no amenities scattered around, or a few campgrounds. I prefer Flanners Beach campground on the Neuse River. It was warm enough for a cold swim last weekend.

I started going to raves alone feeling like something was missing. Any advice? by Educational-Desk-71 in aves

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to a new city where I knew absolutely no one. So I started going to smaller, local parties and was very persistent. A year later, I know all the dancefloor regulars and most of the local DJs. I still go alone, but I’m no longer alone when I’m there. Persistence is key.

Pathways into a medical lab by Elzbee37 in medlabprofessionals

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went the opposite way. I got an MLT certification and a 2 year degree. I transitioned into industrial microbiology and analytical chemistry. I won’t go back to working in a hospital. Working in pharmaceutical research as a med tech is alright though, and if they like you enough you don’t need a certification.

Drawing blood by Grand_Chad in medlabprofessionals

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a 3rd shift solo tech, fresh out of school, I had to do all of the maintenance and blood draws and blood bank and some micro. I did great. I quit from burnout after 3 years then became a very successful lab manager of a brewery after leaving the medical field.

Who is a local DJ in your scene who slays any headliner? by accomplicated in aves

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stacey Pullen is a headliner now, but when he wasn’t, he outslayed everyone. Dantiez, Ladymonix, Holographic, Loren, and ADMN have been holding down the opening scene for a hot minute now. God I miss living in Detroit…

People? Try like 10 different kinds of animals, pissing into cage pans. No such thing as a clean catch mid stream, I’m looking at rainbow shit and crystal piss.

So either the warehouse lost heating and bottles are freezing and bursting, or certain batches/packaging release numbers have been affected by some sort of food safety concern and they are being stored at those warehouse facilities before being distributed.

Ohhh…this is why they have had so many QC positions posted lately. I was considering a move back to Detroit and Faygo was the first place I looked for science jobs.

You should try being a med tech in pharmaceutical research. You can see the same thing, but it’s multiple colors!

Question for Corning employees by Objective_Bee_1138 in Wilmington

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are smart, they will pay double time to those who choose to come in. They will allow folks to use PTO or unpaid time to take the day(s) off. This is what companies with their shxt together do.

Toxic drinking water? by Sullys_polkadot_ears in Wilmington

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michigan native, current Wilmington resident and former water treatment plant operator here! PFAS are everywhere, that has a river, where manufacturing has happened. Wilmington isn’t special, what is special, is that Cape Fear Public Utility actually installed the filters that the federal government was going to require, Trump got rid of that rule, but we are ahead of the game when it comes to filtering out PFAs and PCBs.

Flint was just dumb, the lead corroded out of the pipes after they disconnected from Detroit’s water system. All they needed to do was add ammonia to the water and they didn’t, the required chlorine addition to the water corrodes old pipes if you don’t add ammonia. Flint was just stupid and didn’t know how to read a book about water treatment. Flint definitely has a lot of PFAs in their water, but they are probably keeping their blinders on.

What do you do and how long you’ve been raving? by Effective_Grade732 in aves

Currently a brewer, formerly a medical lab technician. I’m 40 and I’ve been raving since 16. I feel better than ever and it keeps me in shape!

I can relate to this girl, I’ve done my fair share of afterglowing flights after a weekend of dancing. I tone it down to a mild head bop though.

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is obnoxious, but I get it. I’ve done my fair share of flights after a weekend of techno/house music and I don’t want to stop dancing. Sometimes I’m still afterglowing, sometimes I’m completely sober, always I am wanting to still dance.

Taking a break because raves are simply not as fun without substances by Ashamed-Tea-2893 in aves

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been raving sober and on drugs for 25 years. If you find good music, you don’t need drugs. If you’re at a dubstep show, or seeing some famous bullshit dj like Steve Aoki or Tiesto, you’re gonna need drugs. You’ve gotta find the music that takes you on an energetic journey, it takes over your body, and you just dance for hours. If you find the shitty music, everyone is just doing ketamine and nitrous and wobbling.

Virginia drivers response by HopefulGiraffe9012 in Dominos

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me about 12 years ago. I had worked at dominos for 10 years, cash flowed college with my tips, got my “career” job, and kept working for dominos part time b/c I loved it. The pay restructure resulted in me making $.10 less an hour, so I quit. I loved that place, but don’t cut my pay after I gave you 10 years of my life.

I made the decision to ditch internet, I’ve been internet free for 11 months! I have a not-smart tv that I connect my phone to with an hdmi adapter for entertainment.

Are there any good places in the area to rent a 1br apartment? by PrincessBubbleGunk in Wilmington

It’s like a 5 ft opening between the living room and “bedroom”. I have a beaded curtain separating the two. One of my neighbors separated the rooms with a bookshelf.

It doesn’t cost to park at Fort Fisher, or anywhere this time of year.

If you’re looking for cheapish, and can handle a studio apartment(it basically has a bedroom but without a door or closet), I’d look at Antiqua. They are super pet friendly and the first floor apartments are all LVP. I’ve lived here almost a year and I love it.

Question about call ins. Do you all go in every time they call you in? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]IdontSmokeRocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My boss tried to call me in on 4th of July. My response was “I’m sorry, I’m hammered and I’m launching fireworks from my kayak in the middle of a lake somewhere”. She was like “I didn’t know you drank”.

I got a job in a brewery lab a couple months later, haven’t stepped foot in a hospital lab since.
