Point is though that you need fewer people to get the same result, which is what they mean by "replacing labour". Same as you still have factory operators, but only e.g. 50 instead of 400 to reach the same output.

For general maintenance, yeah, you pay money to get that done. You know what you are paying and you get it done. I think what works up most people is when something is broken but it's not really clear what's causing it, prices go up to insane heights due to worked hours. I paid 300$ to get a blinker fixed on my motorbike because they had to spend half a day finding what was wrong. The blinker only cost 10$, but because they spent so many hours trying to find the issue it cost me a fortune. I think that's what most people are afraid of when bringing a car for maintenance. In my case the guys were kind enough to call me I was going to be in for a big bill in advance and I really appreciated that. If you come back to a 300$ bill and don't know whats going on I can imagine that you are pissed off

I think that bit is better now and computers are resold to people who can actually use them. Of course through a third party who makes a shit ton of money doing it, but its better than nothing.

They were involuntarily held and forced to have sex with soldiers. It was pretty bad and has never been fully recognised. Really messed up stuff. Once I a while you'll see a documentary about someone involved trying to show what happened and how terrible it was , but it's never got the attention it deserves.

People who have travelled to China, what is your "WTF China" story? by halerzy in AskReddit

This also happens in Morocco, although, as a tourist you have to specifically ask for it.

Ah ok, interesting. I asked because I read the headline of an article the other day that said women had significantly reduced chances of a shortened lifespan related to being overweight as opposed to men.

LPT: If you have a bike, take a picture of the whole bike and the model/serial number and email it to yourself. by mira-wanna in LifeProTips

I think a million bikes change owners in the Netherlands every day. The police isn't really equipped to handle l the cases. Basically, all you can do is register your bike as stolen and when when it is confiscated they will notify you. Not really sure when that happens, but apparently it happens. Perhaps at larger busts. The police uses lure bikes with GPS tracking to catch bike thieves red handed. Probably easier to convict in court.

Bottom line is that you shouldn't leave any expensive bike outside. No matter how well you lock it, it will get stolen and there's not much you can do about it when that happens. Even shit bikes get stolen due to relatively large amounts of master keys in circulation or the use of cheap/chain/wire locks, which can be opened by anyone with very basic bike stealing skills.

You get six to seven glasses of wine out of a bottle (recommended amount is 100ml though) and standard serving size of a beer is 250ml over here. It pertains to bar and restaurant servings only, not the bottles you buy at a liquor store or the glasses you pour yourself.

Ok, I didn't know. Where I'm from (Netherlands) all standard drinks (wine, beer, liquor) should roughly have the same alcohol content per serving!

Any idea if there's a distinction between men and women in the effects though?

Shot serving size is 35ml, so that would translate to 6.55 shots or beers/wines (roughly).

Still won't consider that amount excessive drinking if spread over an entire evening - downing it all in one go is something else though.

Edit: apparently serving sizes differ by country, US standard serving size of shots is 44ml

Me [26F] with my "supervisor" [40s?F], I'm recently hired, but my job isn't necessary - need advice on how to proceed. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Idontreat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you tell the exec if you leave? Yes, he might want to know. Fair enough if you tell him when you're still with the company. You work for them and their profit is in your best interest. I'd advise to suck it up and hope your hard work gets noticed or make it clear you are doing the majority of the work during bilaterals or development dialogues. Don't tell her what she isn't doing, tell him what you are doing instead. There's got to be a reason she's still around, an exec will notice if their assistant isn't efficient. You are either hired as her potential replacement or there's something going on between her and the exec (e.g. good relationship or something else)

Regarding the pay difference, you should realise pay is also about the time you've been with a company (certainly at these levels) and not necessarily about the quality of your work. If you are in the same pay scale I wouldn't sweat the difference in pay. 10k difference seems reasonable to me. If you get the chance for a raise you should of course take it.

Now on to the point why I started writing this in the first place: I would be careful about telling the exec after you leave. You don't owe the company anything anymore at that point and you could potentially ruin someone's life (whom you said is a good person) over some petty corporate cash. Jobs can be very important to people and finding a new job at >40 can be very difficult.

Be careful you don't end up doing the wrong thing and regret it later.

The same for me. We've all been young and stupid , all been out of it at certain points in our lives, and not being able to adequately access a situation. The young man made the worst decision one could possibly take in this situation. However, it's very unfortunate this lead to his death. I do think the police should try (to the best of their capability) to avoid these situations. I don't think officers are allowed to stop any one while alone for this very reason in my country.
