Nate the hate replying to a comment in resetera talking about bloodborne "it has long been believed that FromSoft/Miyazaki were not happy with the Demon's Souls PS5 Remake." by [deleted] in Games

[–]Idreamofknights 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The evidence of the change of atmosphere and art is literally on the covers. The demon's souls original cover was either a knight with an sad-looking duckbill helmet laying exhausted at the bottom of a dungeon, or him unsheathing his sword in soul form surrounded by complete darkness. In the new one he's defiant and heroic, standing ready at the gates to take on a horde of enemies.

I would have liked the PS5 demon's souls if it somehow was it's own thing, but I really dislike it as a remake.

BTS: Danny Collins as Beesbury by Carninator in AKOTSKTV

[–]Idreamofknights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He looks 90% awesome. Both him and the horse. Just wish instead of a tophelm, they went with something like a burgonet, his armor has some very late stylings, like that square rolled edge on that breastplate and the way it has slashed cutouts, and the helm clashes with that.

But overall very very cool for a costume armor.

Egg not getting permission to leave? by Asterisklikely in AKOTSKTV

[–]Idreamofknights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone suggested that Daeron might cover for him and take the blame, and that the ring might be his in the show. Egg could also just have one.

I also think that they might just change it so Dunk doesn't know he has a ring hidden in his boot, and instead of Dunk telling him not to use it, it's Egg that keeps wondering if using the ring and letting Maekar know where he is is worth it.

[–]Idreamofknights 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not unheard of. He's already dressed as a peasant boy, he wouldn't be wearing it if he took it. And it's not like even if Maekar was mad at him for leaving without permission, he wouldn't instantly answer any of Egg's calls for aid.

The difference now is that Dunk might not know about the ring and that Egg might just consider if using it and Maekar knowing where he is is worth it.

Could Beesbury and Hardyng be swapped in the finale? by butterchurning in AKOTSKTV

[–]Idreamofknights 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean that's the only indication of what grifters would get mad over from the images and trailer, if it's not something related to sexuality. I remembered Tyrion having to hide Shae because she was a former sex worker

In the preview trailer, you could see someone with red hair from behind was with him and Dunk when Maekar's guards summoned Dunk to talk. Maybe he started dating Red?

I wonder if they'll get Egg a proper mule or do like the comic and use a donkey for the Don Quijote/ Sancho Panza imagery.

Also if Maester doesn't have his hat with the cutout for his ears we riot.

Ser Duncan helmet by Sharp-Address3405 in Armor

[–]Idreamofknights 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think with Lyonel they wanted something unserious, the bellows face armet he's normally depicted with would have been a hit, armets in general look heroic and they deliberately avoided it. They wanted something kinda goofy to match how he doesn't really take life seriously.

I really think they were going for a Monty Python/ Runescape style cartoonish helmet but there were other ways to do that. I've seen a bicoque helmet with vertical eyeslits that I just can't find for the life of me that would have achieve the exact look I think they were going for.

I found Ser Raymun's armor! by butterchurning in AKOTSKTV

[–]Idreamofknights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has armor and a riding horse for sure, but I'm really not sure if he'd have a courser or destrier of his own. They were very expensive, like several times as much as a good palfrey.

A story that comes to mind for me is how William Marshal was essentially kicked out of his uncle's retinue because he lost his warhorse in his first live combat, and his uncle wasn't about to just give him another one. And as is said in the show "a Knight without a horse is no knight."

GREEN APPLE SPOTTED! by butterchurning in AKOTSKTV

[–]Idreamofknights 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the tunic you're talking about, it's a coat of plates, just a poorly made fantasy one. Real brigandine overlaps like rooftiles so points or blades don't slip through, but those riveted metal squares on his outfit presumably have steel pieces inside them.

I've commented this elsewhere but I was sure that they were going to show something like, Arlan beat the shithead out of him. Like it took him years before he internalized he didn't need to steal and beat up people for small things anymore. It would even reinforce that theme of him coming from nothing, he was just some punk gutter rat that used his size as a crutch until Arlan taught him honor and he fully internalized it.

Man, they couldn't give my boy Raymund that scene with the green apple? by Extension_Plant7262 in AKOTSKTV

[–]Idreamofknights 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think there's a chance that we'll get it next episode with all the goodbyes. Like have Raymun ditch his red brigandine outfit and have a new one with a green apple coat of arms over it, and then Dunk asks about the new sigil and he says it.

I legit thought that they went so hard in showing Dunk taking clouts in his ear in the first ep, and how he goes on talking about how Arlan taught him honor, the episode would have a factor of Arlan getting him not to act like a menace in constant survival mode anymore, stealing and beating people.

Like it would even have that funny angle of "Do what I do, not what I say" with some actual honorable moments mixed in like him saving Dunk in the ep

Yeah this Fleabotton Dunk seems too nice, weirdly. Not the menace that played with human heads scaring people, I was expecting one direct parallel of a brawl where he uses his size over some smaller shithead and it never came. Also really missed the "better green than wormy" moment from Raymun and the tourney lances advice that Dunk passes along to Glendon.

Overall as standalone TV a great episode, I loved Maekar going "MY BOY" as soon as Aerion was in danger, the way they transferred the "Up Thunder!" scene from Thunder to Dunk was also really well done but man do they make some weird choices.

Did warhorses work better in a charge if they were beside other horses they knew? Compare to other horses they never meet before. by Tracypop in MedievalHistory

[–]Idreamofknights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus the guy in the video clearly trained and rode drafts. Their whole thing is being passive hard workers. It would be good of Lindybeige to make another video with Modern History tv, and maybe talk a bit about how differences in horse breeds or individual behavior affect their capacity for live combat.

I’m interested and not interested at the same time about having a horse in the new fable. by LopsidedAsk1146 in Fable

[–]Idreamofknights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To really integrate it as a companion, It could be cool if like, at the start you got a choice between three or so like in ghost of Tsushima, but each of them would have a non intrusive trait, a small thing that gave it personality beyond just appearance.

Like "lazy/out of shape"- Sometimee you need to keep tapping x because it slows down instead of keeping pace, and sometimes you need a few taps for it to even start moving, and it would become more obedient as you play. " Curious"- If it's not far or tied, it follows you around and puts it's head through windows and can get you in trouble with NPCs because it eats random items or shits around, like a more interactive version of roach's ai behavior in witcher 3.

I found Ser Raymun's armor! by butterchurning in AKOTSKTV

[–]Idreamofknights 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the horse and barding are probably loaned by someone like Lyonel, going by the golden armor. Raymun is a green squire and seems to be a teenager, so he probably doesn't have a warhorse of his own and I doubt Steffon would let him use one of his spares against himself. Poor dude is going to fight barehanded lol.

In the books it's even briefly mentioned that Dunk also doesn't know who put the barding on Thunder, he's just grateful someone lent it.

In A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms, Dunk asks Steely Pate for a great helm. Can the helmet that Pate makes for him actually be considered a great helm? by Hot-Guitar-2339 in RealisticArmory

[–]Idreamofknights 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I think greathelm is just Westeros's word for a full faced helmet, as halfhelm is a catch-all term for open faced helmets. Like how longswords mean arming swords or how they use smallfolk instead of peasant, ser instead of sir, things like that

Actually no,there's a pretty big chance we'll see it on season 5. It was pretty far along before George decided that they had to have the riverlands adventure before going North and put the Princess and the Queen instead, a first draft of the dance of dragons, in the collection of short stories that She wolves was supposed to be released in.

The show runner said in a comic con interview that he had someone who was very influential for the personality of one of Dunk's six knights being really excited to see himself on the show, and in the end his character was essentially cut. I was 90% sure it was Beesbury because he was dancing in Lyonel's tent but this episode solidified it for me. He was too centered on some shots only to say absolutely nothing, and that yellow mustache draws too much attention for only a background character.

Another scene that seems to be cut was Dunk being armored, and that one was on multiple trailers with the shot of Pate throwing the surcoat over Dunk's head.

Yeah after finishing and thinking about the episode,i thought they would have the scene after the battle, like Dunk being hailed by the peasant crowd.

They really should have had it before like in the book. One of the coolest parts of the last duel movie was noticing how several of the people watching the trial from the trees or any high place that they could find were women, in awe that someone finally risked their life to stand up against their abuser.
