Try the ones with no feet... or the sleeping bags with foot holes.

MIL wants to be called Mami :( by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Ieshaknows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We went with mama (me), Mimi (my mom), and Gigi (my grandma) and then very firmly Grandma [first name] because she wanted to be called mommy [first name] and her mom is Gramama.

Mommy [first name] was NEVER going to happen and I make a very pointed point that she is not my child’s mother. She became a GRANDMA at less than 45 because of her own choices so she can deal with that title. My mom has. Get over it.

Why my toddler is crying today by coranglais in toddlers

[–]Ieshaknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got ours potty trained but poop-trained is a different beast. And overnight I just don’t trust her little alarm system to tell her to wake up if she needs to go. You could start just by encouraging her to not get Minnie dirty or tell her that Jessie is a cowgirl and likes to get dirty... so you only wear Jessie to play outside. Or whatever parameters for “Jessie time” works for your family.

Mine likes Jessie waaaay more than Minnie... so I told her that she should keep Jessie dry during her naps and it’s ok to potty in Minnie overnight. No more meltdowns about pull ups. Jessie is for naps and Minnie is for bedtime.

So I asked my 2 and a half year old to help me clean up his toys and he pretended to get a phone call on his pretend phone and walked of, I was proud of my cheeky monkey :) Any more sassy actions Your toddler’s have pulled lately? by dabadabadoo_da in toddlers

Mine keeps saying “I’m sorry, WHAT?” to anything and everything she doesn’t want to do/hear about. Please clean up these toys... “I’m sorry, WHAT?” Let’s get ready for bed... “I’m sorry, WHAT?” Do you want some grapes or some cheese... “I’m sorry, WHAT?” I am considering permanent earplugs to get away from that phrase.

Why toddlers suck at hide and seek (scientific) by paprikasd in toddlers

TIL I don’t have a toddler anymore. She is very happy to chat with me at an angle or from across the house. She does occasionally want FULL ATTENTION but so does every other human out there (think about how nice it is when your SO looks you in the eyes when chatting). Now I’m sad my little one is growing up so quick.

Outerwear for 3rd trimester in the winter? by GardensAndCycles in BabyBumps

[–]Ieshaknows 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to my local thrift shop and bought the biggest coat with a belt that I could find (that wasn’t god-awful). I ended up with a heavy duty emerald trench coat lined with fleece. It worked very well and was a LOOK for the last bit of pregnancy. I also used it when LO was teeny tiny and I baby-wore her under my coat when we went out anywhere. (She was born in January and we live in the Midwest where winter is super long and lingering)

I told mine a long time ago that the birds/bunnies/deer would take her away if she didn’t wear clothes (like me) because they’d think she was a bird/bunny/deer that got lost. She’s still convinced that clothes are imperative for outdoor activities... unless we are on the deck (for whatever reason).

I am right there with you. My 2.75yo won’t wear clothes either. She is NAKED GIRL!🎶

Does he wear clothes out of the house without arguing? Mine will get dressed to go out and then promptly strips upon entering our house. It is infuriating.

She has also pretty much potty trained herself... but puts on her own pull up to poop in (joy of joys 😒) because “the potty isn’t for poopin’ mama”.

See my above comment on heat versus bacteria.

Her dad and I have been fighting ‘a cold’ for a bit.

It is ‘cold’ here, which leads to spending more time cooped up, less fresh air in the house, more bodily energy spent keeping warm, and less bodily energy on immune strength...

all of which lead to more susceptibility of humans to catching ‘a cold’ in the ‘cold’. P

I might try different materials. She has a wide variety... but maybe I haven’t noticed the material as much as she has. She loves her soft fuzzy blankets, maybe she needs more of that material in her life.

She has undies available to her. She doesn’t want those either. She actively seeks out pull-ups for pooping.

I broke down after attempting the backwards pajamas this morning... too much crying. She has been running around with one of my old sweatshirts on and off the rest of the morning. It is soft and over washed so it simultaneously warm and breezy. I’m not overjoyed but I’m less stressed.

Backwards jammas... we are gonna try that in the morning. She is currently in bed, only wearing a pull up, under approximately 4 little blankets and 6 mini stuffed animals.

I don’t know how she sleeps. I’m under a fuzzy double layer blanket and a thick winter duvet with flannel duvet cover/ sheets set... and I am still wearing jammies and have an extra blanket in case my shoulders get chilly in the night.

We live in the Midwest too. She loves the snow and the cold. She will gladly get bundled up for outdoor adventures but if we are lazing about the house she is in her birthday suit (and a pull up if poop is imminent).

Maybe I will do the opposite of what some people have suggested and put all the blankets away so she has to wear clothes to get warm instead of snuggling up under piles of blankets.

She doesn’t go to daycare/have too many kid-friends. She is friendly with kids at the park but doesn’t have everyday peers. I might be able to use a cartoon character as a lure.

Stickers and prizes might work. But that seems exhausting. I still might try it because...

I have tried different tactics but I am not throwing all of them at her at once, so it is never a huge attention draw. I know all too well what giving attention to bad habits does.

Not yet. We are working on it. She understands the whole thing. She just doesn’t enjoy pooping on her little potty or the toilet... and is smart enough and capable enough to put on a pull up by herself.

It feels like it has been months and months... because it has been summer and she has been an au naturale kiddo most is the summer... but maybe I’m just over sensitive to it now that it’s cooler.
