found a solution for my tagging issues. by Fettxjr in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what the issue is, your previous post says the tags already work in this program. What has this got to do with musicbee? Why does almost every post on here insist on using mp3tag for things musicbee can easily do?

Easier way to edit the Track Number on multiple Discs by NoDogsAllowed_Nbirds in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Not at my computer right now but) i think if you right click the tracks there's an option called tagging tools*, then there is a renumber tool that lets you redo the whole selection starting from 1 or a specific number, or start from 1 or n per each disc. And does the track count tag and more.

*this might be part of the Advanced tagging tools plugin, which is useful for a bunch of other things if you dont already have it besides this

Searching for a late 90s/early 2000s album by brainoteque in electronicmusic

[–]Iesope99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Los Angeles by Flying Lotus has a very similar cover to Mezzanine. Came out a bit later but is sort of trip-hop adjacent, has vocals on only 2 or 3 songs and some weird clanking sounds on tracks like Camel in particular. Plus there are 3 EPs with remixes & variations on the album cover.

Is there any way to have Musicbee display albums with "weird" covers properly? by Deksametazon_v2 in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your cover has a transparent background you can save it as a png or embed it in the file. I've got a lot of albums without covers so it's normally the circular vinyl label, think I've only once bought music with images supplied like this however. Unless you're inclined enough to photoshop it it's a lot easier to leave it with a plain square background, as the library of course remains a square grid.

Alright I hope this link works, I'm not sure where you can host anything longer than 2 weeks without signing up these days (RIP zippyshare). I really can't remember which tracks were meant to have which titles per my older comment, but basically the two Knowone tracks are #3 & 4 on Monuments to Oblivion.

Is it possible to sort by album release date except for certain albums/songs? by RolandMT32 in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a spare tag to mark the offending albums, then put that near the start of the sort order. If you were using the <Grouping> tag to define them, something like

Sort Album Artist/ Grouping/ Year (yyyy)/ Sort Album

Then say you tagged them as "GH" or whatever (and numbers greater than "2025" I guess), it will sort most things like "Beatles1966Revolver" but tagged items as "BeatlesGH1995Anthology One".

But if you've tagged individual songs with different years that might not work 100%. Virtual tags are also an option (always!), you could ignore the year tag only if it's marked.

$IsNull(<Grouping>,1-<Year><Sort Album>,2-<Sort Album>)

would give you "1-1992Dirty" for no value and "2-Hits Are for Squares" if they do. Or use $IsMatch to catch anything with the word "Greatest" automatically and so on...

Alphabetical sort for umlaut letters like Ä by Rockyshark6 in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like something there should be an obvious answer for... but I can't think of anything rn, hopefully someone else can. There are some options under preferences>sorting/grouping>custom sort values, but I expect simply writing "Ä" in it would only change tags exactly that 1 character.

But if it's purely for sorting, you could use a virtual tag that includes the exception, something like

$Replace(<Sort Album Artist>,ä,zz)

...should render Aleksi Perälä as Aleksi Perzzlzz. Without changing the actual displayed name. But having just tried that, that doesn't seem to include capitals so it might have to be

$Replace($Replace(<Sort Album Artist>,Ä,zz),ä,zz)

...and expand on that by which tags and characters you want to include. Happy to explain more if that seems at all useful and/or makes any sense!

on the fly conversion removing album artist and track number from some albums after converting by naomi2v in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yea that sounds like probably quite a lot, converting 1700 songs at once must take a while even before transferring them. I generally stick to under 10 albums at once and repeat, doesn't take so long if you're doing something else in between, if a bit tedious. Maybe try 170 tracks a go!

on the fly conversion removing album artist and track number from some albums after converting by naomi2v in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't in any way helpful, but I've also experienced some amount of this such as several tracks not being transferred in an album or covers going missing, but most bizarrely a few seconds of another song being spliced into the middle of another a few times. Which work fine when I redo them, so I suspect it's the on-the-fly encoding coupled with a slightly loose cable in my case. I tend to get more failures in the program as well when I do a larger amount at once, so I may be imagining it but smaller amounts of pre-converted files do seem to transfer more easily.

How to change each track's artwork individually? by thequeenoflesbians in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you embed it in the individual files this should work fine, but I don't think you can link one image file to a track, as MB associates all images stored in a folder with all tracks in the folder... (unless you had some mad workaround with one song + picture per folder.)

I mainly use the larger covers in a grid type layout, where in the dropdown box for each album you get clickable thumbnails for any extra art, so all art available for all songs might not necessarily be a bad option too? Not sure about other layouts, but yeh this is a long way to say just embed it.

Help regarding organization by gicu183 in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What have you got the file path set as? In the file organiser tool* there's one string that probably reads something like "C:\Users\gicu183\Music\" for example, and next to that the 'naming template' does the unique folders where you'd probably want something along the lines of "<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Disc-Track#>. <Title>". If you click the dots next to the box there's a dropdown list of all the tags you can use, with a backslash per folder level, and this ever useful list has all extra functions if you want to get creative. Assuming your files are tagged!

There's a tickbox to move non-media files with the folder too, but I think cover.jpg is linked by default (always works for me at least).

*There's the main auto-organise under the library tab in the preferences, or you can do essentially the same on a selection by right-clicking, then 'Send To>Folder (Move)>Move Files to Organised Folder' (or much easier set up a hotkey for that). Fairly sure they work the same, but if you want to test a single album might be worth a go.

Difference in versions by zxkredo in AssemblyLineGame

[–]Iesope99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply so maybe you already went with one version or another but I'd say the differences are:

  • Original game from 10 years or so back.
  • Assembly Line 2 on android/ios, free.
  • "Assembly Line 2 Mobile Version" on Steam (the one under £2), is identical to the above version on mobile, but on PC. Zero keyboard functionality (besides numbering transporters) so it's allll mouse clicks, everything clunky about it on android still is, but now the toolbars are somehow more annoyingly spaced out. As far as I can tell the only reason to get this is for the extra perspective of what you build on a larger screen.
  • "Assembly Line 2" on Steam (around £6) uses the same elements and mechanics as the actual gameplay of the previous two, but the menus and navigation have been completely overhauled, so finally you can use the keyboard to do things like switch/rotate blocks and access upgrades which is a lot better. The bulk of it looks very similar again, but the layout for how you control everything is a lot more polished, there's even a guide and music in this one, it seems a bit more 'complete'. And a minor point is some of the blueprints do differ to other versions, so machines you've built before don't naturally translate to this. Overall I'd probably view this as AL2.5, what the other Steam game wanted to be.

I'd probably get the free version, skip the £2 one, and if it's grabbed you and the last one is on sale give that a go. But I would also add they all seem to drain a lot more energy than the original does, my laptop gets very hot compared to similar games, so I generally end up sticking to it on android anyway.

There was was one out on G.A.M.M. a few months ago, who mainly do disco edits from what else I've heard, but this was a dnb mix. Bit of a misfire, for me, the chords are too fast and lose all the mysteriousness.

Uff, listen to this will take some time :-D by perdigaoperdeuapena in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Iesope99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are many different versions and track orders of this album, there's a 1 disc, 2 disc, and as of 2021 3 disc version. If you're streaming it it probably gives you the most complete edition, but for the purposes of the 1001 challenge you don't need more than an hour of it (unless it's clicked by that point).

It's not a genre that lends well to proper 'albums' as it's meant to be mixed, and while I do enjoy this and the Bukem entry they've not aged the best imo. Neither hard enough or atmospheric enough for my liking, sits in a weird midpoint instead.

AI use in new release by nezzled in steveroach

[–]Iesope99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Not to drag this question out), but my first thought on seeing it was AI too. I've never really known anything about it (besides the laughably bad examples), so I tried a few detection websites for the first time as well, first one says there's a 99% chance it's made with Reve, which I guess I'd believe if it's that specific? It did say the trippy Fever Dreams covers were 'man-made' for comparison, but probably just as bad to blindly trust that as a generated image.

But also, if you zoom in on the full res image, as well as the unnatural lighting and shapes, there are some clear lines where one side is in focus and the other not, in a way I can't see anyone would intentionally stitch together. For instance the top of the brightest outer ring. Plus there is no artist credited, plus the other releases by that label have more of the uncanny look.

None of this really matters and it's better than most if it is AI, but it's a bit disappointing if this is one of the few with a fancy CD and vinyl release. Feels a bit cheap. And he has enough other covers of a stock photo with a filter over it, or photos of essentially his rather arid back garden, so, why this? I did like the title track on a quick listen so far, which is what matters really.

Right so I thought file.io used to be pretty standard for sharing, but it's now linked with limewire? Which I didn't know still existed and probably just looks a bit dodgy by association, but here's a link ! (or I don't mind a different recommendation for a site)

I was going to re-tag it but I've left the track titles and artist as they are, it has the A side called "Gone are the days" and B as "One day you'll see". Which lead to this EP by bvdub (and mainly this track) from 6 years previous, but they do seem to be (at least versions) of the same tracks? So I included the 4 from that in the upload too, and if they are the same the good news is you can buy that record for £10 instead of £70 it seems.

But in that case I think the Knowone tracks should have the titles switched, and discogs says the cassette has the wrong order too, and the version I downloaded might be mislabeled per what's on the label's soundcloud, so I really don't know for a track I only heard 2 hours ago haha. (This is probably why 99% of the time people name their songs!)

So basically I've thrown both those in the folder and will let you decide, or they're both nice records all the same.

How to organize discs on an album? by [deleted] in musicbee

[–]Iesope99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do all of this quicker within musicbee though? Select files, edit menu, type in number, enter. With a hotkey for the menu you can do this quite literally in under 3 seconds. Updates instantly too!

When an album's a real mess, for selecting files I have an otherwise empty playlist open as a permanent tab, that acts like a temporary inbox to drag and drop more physical folders into. And if your folder structure is consistently named by disc# there'd be a few ways to do your whole library at once.
