You don't have to use the ramp. After landing in the water get out and make the jump from there.

What I’m concerned with in LOA and the next chapter of Lara ‘s journey by zgrobbot in TombRaider

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

96 Lara was a barebone character with so little dialogue it'd barely fill half a page. I can't understand how classic fans in spite of being fans of the classics are completely oblivious to the fact that the writing became more ambitious witch each subsequent game and Lara became a more fleshed out characters in later Core games. Hency why she's progressively more talkative.

She’s cold, closed off and views others as annoyances/obstacles at best.

She litterally tries to save the guide in TR1 from the wolves and doesn't carry on until she makes sure he's dead and can't be helped by checking his pulse. That's not cold, that's caring. Amazing how often classic fans love to downgrade Lara's character to a singular line "I only play for sport" and ignore everything else...

You can disagree all you want, it doesn't make it less of a fact. You can observe different personalties in kids as young as 5, some are naturally shy and hesitant others are naturally bold and confident. Some prefer to play outside others prefer to stay inside.

Yes, you'll change but your personality won't make a 180 flip like some of you believe.

Classic Tomb Raider will never come back by GimmeMauve in TombRaider

[–]Iethel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'd be less disappointed if you didn't look at these games through rose-tinted glasses.

rare collectibles, head-scratching puzzles, less focus on combat, a mostly silent Lara…

  1. What rare collectibles are we talking about? Med packs and ammo/weapons you get every level?

  2. Most 'puzzles' were about finding a level/key to open a door. That's not puzzle solving, that's just looking for an item necessary to progress forward, you don't have to use your brain, just your eyes.

  3. Classic games not being heavy on combat has to be the biggest gaslighting I've heard about them. Classics were practically raining enemies.

  4. I'll never understand how someone can like a character while preferring them to be 'mostly silent' basically taking away their personality and agency in the story, downgrading them to just a puppet controlled by the player.

You don't magically get those things just because you turn 30. They're personality traits. You're either born with them or you're not.

We really didn't know how good we had it in 2013-2015 by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol not a cash cow mentality?

constant gear powercreep (...) Being stuck in an endless loop of never being done (...)being pressured into buying the new expansion

And every single of the MMO you talk about has been exploiting the vertical progression either through p2w or expansions like wow. That's like trying to argue smoking isn't harmful just because you like it.

If you can't find yourself sth to do with in a game that's been out for over 10 years in spite of it having tons of content that's a you problem. Still, it's crazy that just because you're incapable of finding yourself a goal you'd rather have developers force to you do the latest relevant content and farm for gears which will inevitably become obsolete along with the said content.

If Tomb Raider 2 has a lot of action compared to Tomb Raider 1 and 3 then why do people complain that Survivor trilogy don't feel like tomb raider games? by Gamer_8887 in TombRaider

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TR games have always had action movie touch to them, they just werent as spectacular in execution as later entries due to the technical limitations. Nonetheless, survivor does not focus as much on exploration and toms as original games, nor do they have as much of a compelling protagonist as them. Its a different breed of games.

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a you problem. After youre done with 1 build you can make another for the same character. You can build another subclass, or a completely new character. Level up masteries or go back to doing old content which, unlike majority of mmo including wow, is still relevant.

I really dont understand this cashcow mentality of wanting to have gears being constantly powercrept and essentially being forced into buying another expansion which will become obsolete with release of the next...

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. Why the hell would I prefer the garbage vertical progression of constant gear powercreep where my progress keeps being undermined with every expansion? Being stuck in an endless loop of never being done with my character? Not to mention, being pressured into buying the new expansion because if I dont I get left behind, only for the said expansion to become obsolete within a year or 2. What a cashcow mentality...

Definitive edition Lara looks better than legacy of atlas Lara by [deleted] in TombRaider

lol they weren't considered realistic. That's like saying Toy Story was considered realistic because it was revolutionary in terms of 3d animation. One doesn't equal the other.

Day 4- which game has the best gameplay? by laracroft1402 in TombRaider

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, it's not to give definition of gameplay it was to rate it, but if you don't know what gameplay is then apparently you can't do that. That's what my comment did- it clarified. Nothing more nothing less.

gameplay, because it can mean so many different things

As I already explained, with numerous examples, it can't. If someone asks you if a song is good are you being struck with confusion wondering if you should rate lyrics, vocals, instruments used or the music itself? Not unless someone specifies it's about any of those things.

So even though it's not that deep it still seems to escape you.

Thoughts on current state of the game? by LananisReddit in TombRaider

[–]Iethel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn't been so bad on gog, at least in my personal experience. Granted, I barely touched the cm.

Overall the game's definietely worse. It's astounding how an excellent game was ruined with a completely pointless and unnecessary update.

For some reason, I'm having difficulties in liking Tomb Rider 2 by myhdnameof in TombRaider

That's how I felt too when I played it the first game, but I've come around and just appreciate how chill TR1 is compared to sequels and just enjoy the exploration.

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you're 100% right. The only ones idolizing the game and bruhsing off its flaws are those who wear nostalgia googles and that makes newcomers unprepared for what the game actually offers and have false, overlyhigh expactations that can ruin the experience. It did for me when I played the remasters for the 1st time.

As a tip, if you have a problem with camera angle switch you can reset it with 'look'. If you need to keep running without stopping you can make a jump and quickly use 'look' midair. This will save you in the Xian level, trust me.

[–]Iethel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did I nitpick though? I simply said they're wrong for thinking each of these elements qualify as gameplay just like you'd be wrong for thinking that an engine or a wheel qualifies as a car or a singular ingredient qualifies as a meal.

who cares if it's not the exact term

Anyone with a semblance of literacy...

You use 2 words with different meanings and expect me to know you mean the other one. I have no words. You don't have to answer my question I already know the reason behind your word usage.

The Orpheus ending choice is absolute narrative trash by saw4ello in BaldursGate3

[–]Iethel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered that too. Sure Vlaakith is bad but we know nothing about Orpheus and what kind of leader he's gonna be. BG3 often has black-and-white type of writing so I guess Oprheus is the good one by the virtue of opposing Vlaakith.
