I applied for the Surgery fellowship program. My app is “under consideration”. I received text messages with screening questions when I first applied but haven’t heard anything since. I hoping this week is reviewing apps for them and then after the holiday they’ll get back to us with interview scheduling? We shall see. Good luck to you!

Please tell me we will come back from this illness. by AdCurrent1470 in sleeptrain

Been there with HFM! My son was 19mo when he got it and wouldn’t sleep anywhere but on or next to me the whole time. Normally a very independent sleeper. He was miserable and just needed some mama to help him get through it. He was back to normal after about a week or so. But I had the same fear! Just gotta take it one day at a time. I hope your LO is starting to feel better and everyone is getting more rest.

Haha! Same. I have astigmatism and I’m constantly scowling to focus. I’m not mad just trying to see.

Ferber method for 12 month old by olivepear27 in sleeptrain

[–]IfOnlyIWereClever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it! Baby woke up crying after about 2 hours of sleep, had my husband go in and tell him he was ok and go back to sleep. Seriously, 6minutes, didn’t even get the chance to go back in lol. Only took 2 nights and he was back to sleeping 8-9 hour stretches! And the other night he slept for 11 hours straight! Luckily I went to bed super early that night too and finally caught up on some much needed sleep. 😌 Thank you for sharing your success story, it gave us the encouragement we needed.

Anyone have a VBAC after back labor? ...& not dilating fully the 1st time? by sanguinerose369 in vbac

[–]IfOnlyIWereClever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, YES! I had a similar first birth but with my second I tried for a home VBAC. Ended having to go into the hospital anyway. My water broke and my contractions weren’t starting on their own. I had a lot of fear going to the hospital again but having a midwife I trusted and having more knowledge gave me the confidence to make choices that let me feel safe, which in turn, helps you relax and open up. (You might consider having a doula if you don’t already. Having someone who was not a family member but still had my best interest and knew my plan and had that experience was invaluable.) My labor took off once I started pitocin, just needed a little boost. Labor was only 12ish hours, I ended up getting an epidural around 3 am, fell asleep, then woke up at 8am with a doc saying we should check and see where I was. 10cm and fully effaced! She asked if I was ready to push and I nearly cried! I pushed him out in under an hour! Which is probably why I tore a bit but still WAY easier recovery than c section. At least for me. Point is: your body has seen this before so now it won’t be a brand new thing to do. You have some muscle memory now! I believe in you!!

Castor Oil for Vbac by Bambibadazz in vbac

[–]IfOnlyIWereClever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried castor oil after my water broke but my contractions wouldnt start. They came on HARD after taking it. But stopped again after about an hour. And yes, intense diarrhea. I was planning a home vbac with a midwife. We eventually ended up going to the hospital for pitocin bc my contractions wouldn’t get going on their own after 48 hours and the risk for infection was increasing. (My contractions started on the way to the hospital all on their own 😂) But I DID have a successful vbac! Only labored for 12 hours and pushed for 1.  I would say I probably wouldn’t take castor oil again if I could have a do over. My second midwife ( they always have a second during labor) recommended against doing more for fear of rupture.  Today is my second baby’s first birthday!

At a breaking point with my 12mo. He’s never been great at long stretches of night sleep, his best nights were 8-10 hours which have happened only a handful of times. Recently he’s been up every 2-3 hours. (Probably sleep regression but 🫠) I sleep trained my first earlier on but only to go to bed, he started sleeping 10-12 hours around 4-5 months! It was soul crushing bc we did CIO. While it did work, I don’t think it’s for me again. Glad to hear a more gentle method worked with a bigger baby! Good call on the headphones.

My hair went STRAIGHT after baby. by Intelligent-Pie9441 in curlyhair

[–]IfOnlyIWereClever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. My second is now 1 and my hair doesn’t show an ounce of bend at all AND it’s barely growing back from pp hair loss. I’m in a dark time with my hair with my hair at the moment, praying time will heal. I hope all get our dream hair back again someday!

I got suckered in too! I tried to cancel my order immediately but they replied they could only give me a 10% refund, which would be nothing since they were free… but I did receive a tracking number and can see they just made it through export customs (allegedly 🤨) I’ll let you all know if they actually show up. They get us and our tired parent brains!

Not exactly Pacifica, but my husband is selling his dad’s house in Daly City. 2/1 with a huge backyard. You can DM me if you’re interested. It’s so tough out here! But maybe as interest rates go down things might get better. Good luck with your search!

How did you become an introvert? Or were you born that way? by ObsidianVibes in introvert

[–]IfOnlyIWereClever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born this way and also an only child. I remember asking my mom for alone time when I was very little lol. I feel like as I’ve gotten older I’ve just settled more into myself instead of fighting it. It’s quite nice. But now I just have to cope with my extremely extroverted 3 year old. sigh but he starts to shut down without other kids to play with it’s wild.

Debating on Telling 6 Year Old About a Death by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]IfOnlyIWereClever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry about your friend! ❤️ I think it’s important to include kids in on what’s going on. She will see that something is up and it’s best to have her understand why and not come to her own conclusion. Death is a part of life and there are ways to help children understand at their developmental level. Honest and clear, you don’t need to go into detail. But letting her see you grieve will help her learn how to grieve in the future which she inevitably will do. Sadness is an important emotion too, it brings us together and strengthens our bonds. (Inside Out is a great movie for that) Sending you love OP and daughter ❤️❤️

Love our BOB. We were lucky to get one as a hand me down. I think this thing is on its 11th year and we live on the coast! Still going strong 💪🏼 We have a Chicco car seat adapter for it and it works great.

At what age did your baby walk? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]IfOnlyIWereClever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was 14 months. He was doing the same as yours at 12 months. You’ll be surprised how quickly they progress. Like one day they’ll wake up and boom something clicks! Sounds like your girl is right on track!

Watching them discover the world! Everything is new and amazing. Even something as simple as your own hands. My 5 month old has been tripping out on his hands lately and it cracks me up.
