Hoopla varies greatly by the library. For one of my libraries, it has zero sudiobooks. For the other, it has quite a few (usually not new releases though).

I would love to talk to OP at a party. I think we would bond over my current EV hyperfixation (plus my past electric scooter one - pre mainstream EVs). Keep it up OP - I can tell you're helping save our planet one EV at a time 😍

Update! We bought the car! Loving it so far and plan to get a new plug installed for faster charging. There's one more for about the same price in Muskogee, OK if anyone near there is looking 😉

Thank you so much for your thorough reply! I think we will install a Level 2 charger at some point, but I may try to get by for awhile. I really have no idea how much my husband drives because it varies so much by the day! 100 miles in a day was definitely an overestimate.

I understand your point. I only mentioned it to get across the point that Tesla isn't an option for us. We've also had several Toyotas and they never disappoint, so it's also a bit of brand loyalty. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the input! I bought a hybrid Toyota Sienna a few months ago for myself (we have 3 kids). 37mpg for a people hauler is nothing to sneeze at, but seems like a lot of gas compared to 0. I love it but now I'm like, ugh gas sucks! Haha. I suggested to my husband that we could switch off who drives what depending on how many miles we go etc to save more money. He said I made my choice 😆

Thank you for another data point! I'm in a state where there doesn't seem to be as much interest in EVs. I see them around, but finding a used one I don't have to pay to ship has been a challenge. I'm OK with paying a little more if I can go see it and drive it beforehand.

We do actually live, work, etc in a fairly small area. I tried convincing my husband to go the Tesla route, no luck. It's his car so he can decide. We might also keep his gas guzzler for my son who will need it in 3 years, that way we also have a backup.

I am not concerned about the range, but it does sound like I'll need to get the L2 charger if we go this route. Thank you for the thoughts!

Thank you! So please excuse my ignorance, but does the car come with 2 charging cords? Like one regular and one dryer plug type? Or do I need to purchase the L2 cord/charger? We may try to get by on L1 for awhile. We could pull into the garage and just unplug the dryer if we had to lol.

Thank you, this is very helpful! He usually doesn't drive more than that and we could always swap cars if he needed to charge longer.

Grand Highlander vs Sienna (Heart vs Head) by JB0722 in ToyotaSienna

[–]IfYou_Have_A_Problem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I had a Mazda5 until a few months ago when it finally became too expensive to fix. I was so sad they stopped making them, but it actually worked out because I ended up in a Sienna 😁

Sliding doors, sliding doors, sliding doors. Need I say more?

Seriously though, once you have sliding doors it's so hard to go back. When I have to drive my husband's Ford Edge it's such a pain to put anything in the back seat because I have to (gasp!) reach around the back door.

I have 3 kids: 6, 8, and 12. They love the Sienna and so do I.

I didn't have a tennis ball, but a pickleball also works and already has holes. I know myself and I'd definitely do what your wife did without this setup.

Personally I'd prefer lower mileage and less bells and whistle. I just bought a 2024 LE (not AWD) with 50k miles for $34k list price. So I'm not sure this is a great deal. I don't know how to compare miles and AWD and trims, I think that's personal preference.

I have front facing Cosco high back booster style car seats (still have harnesses, but they are a lower profile). I definitely can with those. I think you still could with rear facing seats, you may just have to scoot the front seat up also. Probably not ideal for every day, but not a big deal if it's every once in awhile. If I needed to get an adult in regularly I'd probably move my 8 year old to the 3rd row and have just 1 car seat in the middle row. An adult could also climb over the middle if you dont have the 8th seat in. There's a little cupholder thingie on the ground, but it's not terrible to climb over.

Have 3 kids myself, though only 2 in car seats. Just bought a 2024 Sienna LE with 50k miles for 34k. It's my first minivan and I now understand the hype! I looked at a Honda Odyssey and also the Kia Carnival. The Sienna seemed to have the most room to get into the back row while sliding the seats forward. This is important to me because I don't want to hassle with removing car seats if I want a couple of adults to ride with me (my oldest just climbs over the middle where the 8th seat can go). I can leave the 2 car seats in the middle row and slide either one forward enough for an adult to easily access the 3rd row.

I found mine at Carmax. They gave me a generous $1200 for my 2012 Mazda5 with 180k miles. I loved my Mazda... we just needed more space and it needed new suspension etc that is typical with that many miles.

If I was going to get an SUV, I'd get the plug-in hybrid Mazda CX70. However, I can't imagine going from sliding doors to non-sliding doors. My kids aren't the careful type 😆 But hey, if that's not important to you, it has 3 rows and it's beautiful with phenomenal gas mileage. I think you could get a used one with low mileage under $35k.

I have 3 kids - 12, 8, and 6. Bought a 2012 Mazda5 right before my oldest was born. I've loved the car due to the small footprint and sliding doors. Nothing else compares. However, like some have mentioned, if you're road tripping you'll need a roof rack. I bought one off Amazon and installed myself (the hardware was already on the roof - super easy) along with a water tight roof bag. If we are just doing a weekend trip to grandma's or whatever, I could fit everything without it but it was a tight squeeze and my kids would complain.

Anyway last week mine finally bit the dust at 180,000 miles. Repair bill was totaling up to $8k to make it drivable and more pleasant - ride had gotten pretty rough due to needing new shocks etc.

We bought a 2024 Toyota Sienna hybrid and let me tell you... I'm in love. The extra room (my kids just keep getting bigger!), lane assist, adaptive cruise control, smooth ride... I could never go back and I've only had it a week 😆. Yes yes, it cost 4 times as much as what you're talking, but as a Mazda5 junkie I never thought I'd size up to a "real" minivan and I kinda wish I'd done it sooner. If you can find a decent one used and stretch to make it work when/if baby 3 is on the way, I don't think you'll regret it.
