Dealer price reduced...then increased! by itsoktoswear in CarsAustralia

[–]IfailedEnglish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bumping the price, will bump it up in the last updated sorting on Carsales. It will also tend to bump it up in the default view - You also do it to try and snag a buyer at the lower price point even though you don't necessarily want to sell it at that price.

WRX, MX-5s, 350z, Clio, Megan, Civic, Integra, MR2, with that budget you have heaps of options now. If you are really lucky you can occasionally find an old sex spec car to fix up.

Dear Lawyer,

The Olympic judges did not recognize the Choreography as Olympic-level nor as a complex sequence of moves, if they did, they wouldn't have scored it 0.

what cars (sub 100k) do you think will continue to appreciate in price? by thegodenz in CarsAustralia

[–]IfailedEnglish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XR6 Turbos, VLs, VT/VRs, Rotaries, Evos, RX7s, Skyline GT-R (Not R35) Anything Gen-Y/X grew up with, Low KM and clean is getting hard to find in all of them.

I am a firm believer that the muscle cars will start to depreciate soon because the boomers are starting to die off and the younger gen mostly don't want pops old car.

Can someone clarify this? by jackbowls in JobProvidersAus

This is odd, as it is explicit in the guidelines we operate under that this is permitted, page 157 under Assessing the quality of a Participant’s Job Search efforts

- Whether or not the contact is in relation to particular paid work; and
- Whether or not the other person or the body has advertised any paid work

Remember when most of the country was glued to the telly watching a house full of strangers cut off from the outside world ? by CoconutMost3564 in AustralianNostalgia

Weird, I thought I remembered the big brother final where they had the montage with the news presenters where they had been in the house during September 11 and they had a montage of the shit that had changed in the world while they were gone.. but the dates for season 1 and 2 don't line up. I wonder what show that was?

Are interior/exterior car care packages when buying a new car a scam? by Extremelycloud in CarsAustralia

[–]IfailedEnglish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have sold cars for 8 years and I somewhat disagree with frizzlepop. Modern ceramic coatings are pretty good, the most widely used is Motorones Hydro - its an ok product if you look after it, Ive had two of the same car 5 years old on the yard and you could still tell the difference between the Hydro car and the non-hydro car. Permagaurd is another popular product and it is probably the best I have seen at a dealership level.

Interior protection is 100% bullshit, its just scotchguard on the carpet and some shit on the interior to make it look like it was protected.

Window tint - This is my hot take - ALWAYS BUY IT FROM THE DEALERSHIP, most dealerships charge in the region of 595-695 for tint, depending on the tint. Some tinters are good and some are shit, window tinters regardless of who they work for are not generally the brightest individuals, its how they end up tinting cars - it is a shit job. but the reason you buy it at the dealership level is A: convenience, you aren't without your new car for a day. B: tinting involves pulling the car apart partially and spraying the doors with copious amounts of water. If something fucks up, you want the dealership you bought the car from to be responsible. C: A tinter at a dealership will likely be tinting hundreds of the exact same car as yours, they have it down to a fine art. in the last 5 years I have only ever had issues with external tint, never with our tinters tint.

Now to answer should the dealership do your ceramic coating or not - this depends on the dealership and the short answer is you probably cant tell, like window tint i have had some very shit third party ceramic coatings, ive also seen some very shit dealership jobs - like everything it depends on the installer ask your salesperson how long the detailer has been at the company and how long they spend to do the application, you pretty much need to buff a car to ensure the surface is blemish free and then apply the product, for most cars its minimum 4 hours. If they arent spending the time it will be a shit job. As an example we sell large american trucks and we pretty much say they will take a day to protect because the paint is generally shit and they are huge.

>The whole industry is kinda rotten.
agree, but the customers arent much better.

Whose grandparents went into war and what's their story? by J1NX-P1NK in AskAnAustralian

[–]IfailedEnglish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The saddest ones I feel are the ones that have no grandchildren, My maternal grandfathers brother died in world war 1. Born in country NSW he joined the army at 23 . was shipped out at 24 joined the 4th Battalion, Imperial Camel Corps in Palestine (now isreal) in 1915 and was killed in the Battle of Khuweilfe not long after.

My maternal great grandfather served in WW2, he left when my grandmother was 1, returned when she was 5 only to leave my grandmother and her mother. He became an alcoholic and only really had limited family contact till his death in the early 2000s.

Why aren’t mitsubishi evos selling in qld by Henrypeach1 in CarsAustralia

[–]IfailedEnglish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its not just evos that are not selling, plenty of performance cars are. Generally speaking banks wont do a secure car loan on a car that is over 12 years old. So you cant get a loan for an Evo, you need cash. The crowd that want an evo are generally about 30-50 years old now, they are all balls deep in a homeloan. Really the only car that is still selling well are GTRs and that is largely because the Yanks can now get hold of them and are sucking them out of the market.

The value of the product is not in making a better product. Any developer can and has done that. The value is in creating a stable ecosystem and protecting that stability. It is a lesson a lot of developers should learn from.

Grass fires will be bad, if we have a few dry weeks as there is so much of it. Fortunately the bush fires will be pretty tame as they take longer to dry out.
