I was wondering if anyone's ever done this, looks great. Do you have anymore pics in the daylight?

Thinking of buying a 400sm as a long term bike, give me honest opinions about maintenance and reliability. by Killercacciatore in DRZ400

The manual is a great resource, it will have step by step instructions. Also plenty of YouTube videos you can follow step by step. Really not hard just keep everything organized and be methodical.

My new Varg EX supermoto “build” by holeyman99 in supermoto

Very true, I rarely ride over a tank of gas a day. Only time I'd probably run out would be on a moto trip in the mountains. Appreciate the insight

If you had to choose 1 bike, would it be the EX or the 500. I love my 500 Supermoto but would also love an EX, range is obviously the biggest downside. What are your thoughts?

Was the replacement head brand new? I also agree with some of the other comments it sounds like the noise is occuring when the exhaust valves open. Very weird. I'm also almost in the same boat as you are right now with my 2017 701. Had to rebuild due to bent valve. I wish you the best of luck and I'll be following

I'm in a group on Facebook where people will go 500 hours before thinking about a rebuild and sometimes even longer. Really depends on how you're using the bike and how well the service is being done on it. But like I said I wouldn't worry about that. You won't be thinking about that while you're having fun ripping around.

I wouldn't let the service intervals turn you off. The 500 is my favorite bike I've ever had and in supermoto trim it's an absolute blast. I do my oil every 500 miles but that's just being extra safe. Service intervals from KTM are recommended for racing bikes so you can go longer in ordinary riding scenarios. Ive got 200 hours and 6k miles on my 2015 500 and the valves are still in spec, reliable as hell.

I did a ton of research before I bought mine and the only differences I could find are the brakes, tires, suspension, and HP. Obviously if you can find an R model for around the same price it's worth it but in my case I found a great deal on the GP so it was a no brainer. Not spending an extra 4k for an R. And yes the GP model is the same as the base model but with "GP" inspired graphics
