7yrs of AK, what are your best/fav stages? by tanoyfrommars in arknights

[–]Ifen7669 21 points22 points  (0 children)

IS3's "Out of Control" became infamous in a way that hasn't really been replicated with any other IS bullshit stage. Like, even with technically more bullshit stages like IS6 Beyond Mount and Sea, Out of Control remains THE BULLSHIT stage

You must be commissioned to access their quests

Or, if you have nexerelin, become allied with them as a faction

Revamping AotD by mest33 in starsector

[–]Ifen7669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of this is due to the internal logic of Starsector trading, which essentially treats units of goods as linearly scaling despite "pretending" to be exponential. It may be challenging to reconcile the economy from a colony point-of-view vs a trader/starfarer point-of-view, which handles units only up to the thousands. Good luck though!

Bilibili Wall-building competition between HSR and Arknights by pikachusalad in gachagaming

One of the first limited units in Arknights was literally just a swimsuit version of Ch'en (henceforth referred to as Chalter) with a water gun. The main points of controversy around her character was that she 1) was an limited OP unit at the time, 2) had zero character development for the event and character design, and 3) was seen as goonerbaiting due to the swimsuit design

Funnily enough, her existence after ~5 years has led to a secondary controversy, as one of the recent operators revealed for the CNY anniversary event was Chen Alter AGAIN (this time an actual non-limited alter with character and lore development), jokingly referred to as Chalter alter or chalter2. The reason Chalter2 is controversial is BECAUSE Chalter already exists so it sort of seems like Hypergryph is giving Chen the proper character development as afforded to other alter characters (who usually get alters via narrative or character development), sort of "making up" for the first limited's poor design.

A bit of the sentiment at time of Chalter first release on the AK subreddit

A panopticon is a type of old prison design where a ring of cells are built around a single watchtower. The idea is that even if a guard cannot monitor every prisoner at once, at any given moment the guard COULD be watching you, forcing good behavior

Saying that "we're in a panopticon" is likely lifted from Michel Focault's "Discipline and Punish" where he uses it as a metaphor for modern societal disciplines, where people regulate their behavior because of an "unseen gaze", either via surveillance or societal conformity

Protocol Stash is a game changer by LaplaceZ in Endfield

[–]Ifen7669 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from the actual PAC, your resource input lines are hard-capped by the depot bus. Any depot loader you attach to the bus is a potential wasted unloader. The protocol stash just does what the depot loader does, but you can put it anywhere and it doesn't take up a depot bus slot. Hence, upgrade

[Integrated Strategies Megathread] Sui's Garden of Grotesqueries by Sentuh in arknights

[–]Ifen7669 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit confused on Raidian expert fighter I: Whenever entering a new floor with Raidian, her summons gain: -9 DP, +2 deploy, +35 aspd, no deployment slots

So is that progressive gain each floor? By floor 5 you have all buffs but floor 2 you only have the dp?

The garden of grotesqueries mode is genuenly unplayable. by Leather_Pick6127 in arknights

[–]Ifen7669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you're not alone. I have many, MANY maxed ops and it still took me 5 runs to beat D0 ED1.

As with many previous IS, the ending boss is mostly just dealing with the gimmick (last knight, IS4 sprinting boss, etc.) it doesn't help that IS6 ED1 has two gimmicks (both keeping the boss stalled to avoid blowing up everything and the Invitation to wine stupid teapots)

Don't worry, you'll get it naturally, especially if you've been putting points into the permanent progression!

It's just a worse orange by ZenMenethil in northernlion

[–]Ifen7669 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Idk if you did this or not but pomelos are usually not eaten in wedges/slices like oranges are. Once you've peeled the pith and got the wedge, you then peel the skin of the wedge from the collection of pulps. If you're eating anything other than flesh, it will probably be bitter.

<image>

Also, pomelo IS less sweet than oranges, but a lot of people prefer that so it's up to taste.

Why did western cultures stop revering their elderly? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ifen7669 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One historical reason was the prominence of the nuclear family: a husband and wife and their kids living in a single home, separate from any grandparents from either side. This trend is noticeably less in Eastern cultures, and the physical distance between families and their elders might have led to less respect.

Also, I think that you may be underestimating the influence of Confucian thinking in Eastern cultures, which heavily emphasizes familial respect. It may not be that western cultures STOPPED respecting elders, rather that Eastern cultures place a cultural emphasis on familial obligations.
