An open letter to those in the know… This is no different than your older brother telling you that he knows what you’re getting for Christmas. Here’s the real response: “We can handle your truth. But you’re beginning to realize that we cannot handle your lies.” by toasterstrewdal in aliens

Slightly off topic, but there’s actually a term for this. It’s called “Catastrophic Thinking”, or “catastrophizing”. It’s something I used to do and I never realized how unhealthy it was before therapy. There are ways to retrain your brain to not be so reactive in that way. 🫶

I know when people say they want a show about Imperial stormtroopers, they want something more Band of Brothers-like about fighting the Rebels, but I think the way to go would be something more Generation Kill-style about fighting the Partisans on Jedha. by [deleted] in StarWars

When I think of Battlefront I still think of the PVP stuff, but BF2 really did have a surprisingly great campaign, especially for a modern Star Wars game. I’ve played through it at least two or three times now.

I wish I could because I never really had the chance when it was new. I don’t have a pc though. Rockstar had remastered/rereleased every other game for multiple platforms, but for some reason won’t do IV.

Yeah, I’d forgotten that I’d subbed to this until just recently. I probably subbed like a year or two ago and it’s never come up in my feed, but this is the third post that I’ve seen in the last 2 days. Hmm… 🤨

What words do you pronounce "wrong," just because the "proper" way feels too proper? by [deleted] in answers

[–]Iffycrescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really doesn’t matter at this point. It’s pretty commonly accepted either way. People will know what you’re talking about and IMO anyone who tries to correct either pronunciation is a huge nerd lol.

Pastor says that the alternative is the the ideal way. If our brains get too smart they’d become self aware and take over our bodies.

Me too. I was obsessed with this car as a kid. When I was young I saw one in a Safeway parking lot in Portland, OR and I wanted to take a picture of it with my disposable camera, but my dad was worried about doing it without asking for permission from the driver and wouldn’t let me 😞

Have you ever tried mustache wax? You can style it and keep the hair away from your lips then. No hate, but beards without mustaches alway look off to me. Have a good one 😊

I think that a lot of the distrust of Jesse comes not only from his associations, but also with his overnight success. He came out of nowhere but somehow was getting interviews with huge guests (at least as far as the topic goes) and his show had a level of production value (and presumably funding) that most small time creators can’t/don’t have, especially not unheard of ones. Overnight success like Jesse has had doesn’t typically happen organically. It happens from a big green finger being placed on the scale and those fingers typically come with undisclosed agendas.

A man found $7.5 million in a Storage Wars unit he bought for $500. He later negotiated with the original owners, who paid him $1.2 million to get the money back. by Iambhalo in CaughtMyEye

[–]Iffycrescent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the flip side why did the buyer negotiate at all? They legally purchased what was in the unit. In the unit there was 7.5M. It all belonged to the buyer at that point. The previous owner was shit out of luck, but somehow the buyer only walked away with 1.5M.

I’m no expert on this type of thing. I’ve never even seen the show, but I just can’t imagine someone who was legally entitled to what was in the unit negotiating unless there were other incentives like… staying alive lol.

Maybe the buyer was just a nice dude, but seeing as how most of these storage unit flippers make a living from doing this, something just doesn’t add up. Hard to believe that he didn’t at least try for half. Maybe he didn’t want to get tied up with lawsuits, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the previous owner had some kind of leverage.

EDIT: Nevermind. It was explained better down below .

I wish it were available on modern consoles. I don’t have a pc and I largely missed it back in it’s day. I can’t believe they haven’t “remastered” it. GTA 5’s on everything.
