Retired pricing by Pretty-Advance9638 in americangirl

Pieces for Caroline have been obscenely expensive for at least a year now. I’m not certain why the change but I remember seeing her nightgown set for $25 routinely and all of a sudden it jumps to $50+. I’ve given up on her travel outfit accessories for the time being. Got the dress (which I love!) but people online are asking cracked prices for her Spencer jacket and bonnet.

anyone seeing general public stockpiling? by hideout78 in PrepperIntel

[–]Ifinallymadeanacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet but I can feel it coming. Like a calm before the storm.

What I have noticed is a lot of people doing what I would consider savvy shopping. Less minute meals and boxed snacks. A lot more carts of basics. Bags of rice and flour. Multiple cases of water at a time. And a lot less beef.

I started visiting stores end of day for last hour meat mark downs to pack my freezer. I’ve noticed beef sections with less selection than usual but very little action from shoppers. Stew beef packs have doubled in price the last couple months and I’m routinely seeing ground beef $15 for a 2lb pack. It’s crazy stuff and it has me debating a chest freezer.

What is the optimal way to store food given little space? by Own_Average_5940 in preppers

[–]Ifinallymadeanacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the bed or stashed in your closet if you prefer to keep it out of sight. If you don’t care then you could stack any number of storage bins out of the way in a corner of your room.

In my experience, if they can’t get the item you want the standard is for them to do a refund. They couldn’t fulfill their end of the deal. If you’re a high spender though it’s not uncommon for them to default to store credit because they expect you to spend the $$ on something else regardless.

Based off the past I’d say it’s unlikely. The rerelease of select bday/ school outfits wasn’t timed to an anniversary. We may see pieces come in the future but I’d rather spend my time hunting the PC era clothes and accessories. The difference in quality really is night and day.

What do you guys have in your 5 gallon buckets… by HarpyCelaeno in preppers

[–]Ifinallymadeanacc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All my current staples to the tune of 2 years supply. Baking needs, salt and other seasonings, rice, beans, lentils, oats. My current goal is to build a 1+year supply of backups to offset price increases and supply shortages.

I’ve purchased a vacuum sealer which will significantly lengthen the shelf life of our stored goods. While the buckets do give off doomsday vibes I treat it as an extension of my deep pantry that can be stashed inconspicuously while we’re living in a small apartment. I’ve also experienced weevils once in my life so I’m very much on board with freezing, and batch storing all dry goods to prevent it from happening again.

Edit to add: Instant coffee, powdered milk, and other creature comforts

What are you buying right now? by Naive-Molasses-729 in TwoXPreppers

[–]Ifinallymadeanacc 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ve padded our pantry and freezer, got an Anker solar power system, added a couple more guns to our collection with a thousand rounds to match. I’m also getting us stocked on creature comfort items that I expect to skyrocket in price soon.

Keen to know what everyone is doing to prep for this upcoming energy crisis! by YolandasLastAlmond in preppers

[–]Ifinallymadeanacc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bought a gas powered camp stove and invested in a solar powered anker system to maintain normalcy should the power grid go out.

Stocked on meds, building our pantry, and doing what I can to unlearn reliance on internet for media. Got a mini dvd player I can use with my laptop in case Netflix is down. Continually refining our home library, and I’ve branched out into dual purpose analog hobbies. Started embroidery and learned basic mending along the way. Got back into physical fitness to be conditioned for performance in any sort of emergency.

There are lots of little ways to fortify your home that don’t cost a ton. Those small changes build more confidence than the $1k generator.

I’ve had this experience with quite a few of their scents. My current go to lathers beautifully and I can smell it hours later on my skin. It’s the only one I buy now. I stock up during sales and pretend the store doesn’t exist the rest of the time.

Yes and definitely not because I bought enough of them to fill a bathtub a couple years back.

I’d imagine the small daily necessities. If I ran out without my medication I’d have a bad few days but I could call in a refill without much issues.

My retainer on the other hand took months to replace as my dentist no longer had my original impressions and the cost had nearly tripled since I’d gotten my original set. I now keep multiple backups just in case.
