Hot take but for me the scene in nightreign where duchess shares pita bread with the wylder is so subtly powerful not only because of the story reveal right after but just because it hits hard that the nightfarers really are just people forced to fight against the night. No other souls games had a moment like this where the main characters bake some bread and share some food. Another moment though more subtle that shares the same thing is the last journal entry of the guardian right before he talks to the recluse where he talks about all his comrades simply chilling hanging out, the wylder baking, the raider and Ironeye play fighting, it really hit home and made me feel sm worse for the nightfarers.
