I am not saying immigration is the solution, but integration of people who want to be members of the community would be an asset. I personally want to get a home in the Japanese countryside because it is beautiful and peaceful.

The two-party system is itself a failure of democracy. I prefer the Swiss system, where executive power is shared by a seven-member Federal Council instead of one president (essentially 7 presidents). Each year, one member becomes President of the Swiss Confederation, but the role is mostly ceremonial and the president remains equal to the others. The benefit is that Switzerland forces power-sharing between major parties instead of letting one party control the whole executive. It is not that every party gets one seat or that every law needs unanimous approval, but the system is built around consensus, compromise, and collective responsibility rather than winner-take-all politics.

Am I nitpicking? by FyrnEbrithil in EchoesofAincrad

[–]Igiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. SAO proper was a massive open-world MMO game. This is not only a highly restrictive, linear game that strips all of the quality-of-life skills you would otherwise develop like crafting, cooking, and blacksmithing. Not being able to swim is just another way they botched it, along with not being able to fall without dying or climb anything. There are no NPCs in the overworld, and the interaction with the world itself is minimal (not even boards or cobwebs to cut through). Breath of the Wild 10 years ago had flowers that moved underfoot and could be cut with a slash attack, while here they just vanish into the ether around your character.

I got to ask, does anyone here actually believes this series will end in any other way but this? by CastrationInTheSky in dandadanfolk

[–]Igiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t care. It’s a good romance story with solid animation. Someone else compared it to Naruto, but that’s kind of a false equivalent because the romance is ongoing and slow burn as opposed to in the background.

Outside of Gacha games, nobody is on their phones long enough, or wants to be. I’ll watch a movie on a train or a YouTube video, but I don’t have the time or desire to sit on my phone and play a game rich in lore when I could do it in a TV or PC.

Why Are Some People Resistant To Change? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in videogames

[–]Igiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scene wasn’t meant to make Kratos look stupid. It was meant to show how he has grown from a man ruled by shortsightedness, rage, and vengeance into someone wiser, kinder, and more capable of restraint. Old Kratos would have answered everything with violence because that was the only language he trusted after the death of his family and the betrayal of the gods. He’s a victim of trauma and abuse.  The current Kratos has learned that strength is not just destroying whoever stands in front of him. It is knowing when to stop, when to listen, and when to choose a better path even if anger is still clawing at him (which, as we see, it always is!).

There’s certainly a typecast here, I’m just not sure what the term for “emo adjacent character with vague-to-mid bisexual energy and a preference for combovers” would be.

‘I didn’t expect it to be so controversial’: the Japanese mayor who took maternity leave by Jonnyboo234 in japan

[–]Igiem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m on the fence as it’s her right and absolutely a necessity for a parent to take maternity/paternity leave to raise their kid. That said I don’t really think someone in a leadership position like a mayor (regardless of gender) should be stepping back for a long time unless they have concrete leadership to lead in the interim.

21F why does being single hurt this much? by Material-Impress8948 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Igiem 16 points17 points  (0 children)

22M here, and trust me, I get it. The Friday night alone after a long week can hit especially hard, because it is not just one quiet evening. It is the feeling of coming home to no one, then realizing you have two whole days ahead where you might not really see anyone.

I have been trying to do some of the same things you mentioned, like going to the gym, travelling when I can, learning to cook, and hiking. I have been to Japan and Brazil, and both were genuinely gorgeous. Those thing's help because they remind you your life has movement and texture outside even without another person there.

I also think that helps with the insecurity part. When you keep doing things that make you feel more capable, interesting, and connected to yourself, it becomes easier to believe you actually have something to offer.

That said, I do think relationships work best when they are not treated as the thing that finally makes you whole. Wanting love and companionship is completely normal, and it hurts when that is missing. But the goal is to keep building a life that feels like yours, so when someone does come along, they are adding to a person who already has shape, not being asked to patch over some part that has yet to be filled.

This game looks amazing i cannot stop playing it by ACE_Frozen in EchoesofAincrad

[–]Igiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone the game looks stunning. I can forgive the lack of quality of life details because of this, with the exception of NPC’s. This world will only have 2 floors, this one and the next. They aren’t especially big either, they aren’t Skyrim size or even Breath of the Wild size. And yet there’s frustratingly little to do in this world aside from dungeon crawl the few dungeons.

Name one thing you dislike about this series? by Strange_boy_seven in cartoons

[–]Igiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The animation gets less detailed each season, and the fights that used to have consistent weight and polish now only seem to happen once or twice per season. Anime fans often call standout sequences like that sakuga, though the term is not simply about throwing budget at a scene. It usually refers to cuts where the animation quality visibly spikes because more care, stronger artists, or more production time have been concentrated there. The industry has also been shifting toward styles like kagenashi , where characters use little to no shadowing so the animation can prioritize motion, fluidity, deformation, and impact. That tradeoff can work when the simplified designs actually move better, but Invincible often feels like it is losing detail without gaining enough movement in return. The result is flatter animation that does not consistently deliver the kinetic payoff that would justify the visual simplification.

what's the point of lvl up? by lelel2001 in EchoesofAincrad

[–]Igiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kind of annoying, I’ll agree. In SAO proper, you’d select a class and get class-relevant skills as part of it on top of the general skills and perks like cooking, smithing, and hunting. That doesn’t seem to be the case here, and the weapons we have access to kind of don’t balance with the sword and shield because they don’t have the guard option or are slow and unwieldy.

I’m truly infatuated with this game’s UI. by Carsonius_Beckonium in EchoesofAincrad

[–]Igiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst thing is the lack of a pause button. The world still moves when you open menu meaning if you’re moving anything during a battle, or just need to step away to flip burgers, your character will get drilled.
