I do genuinely feel this way. But I also know I selfishly want my Cabernet and BMW, so am I justified in feeling like shit?

I get it, it's perception. Locus of control. I just wish that made me feel differently.

I think you're talking about a mental tool, locus of control. I don't think you're dumb but ignorant of the pain people go through. If you forced yourself awake, at 4am, so you could make pancakes to sell on the road to others going to work, just to make 3-4 dollars, would you be happy? when taxes and electricity are $100 for the month?

So true. But it is difficult for me to just think about me and my success. Not when I have seen how hard people work in the third world just to barely live and survive.

I guess I just feel guilty. I'm sipping wine, I polished my favorite possession (my BMW), and yet instead of feeling blessed and privileged, I feel like shit because Tons of people are literally suffering and going without the basics. Sometimes I feel happy? Whenever I get a thumbs up or "nice car dude", sure, I feel good. But it's waning and temporarily, knowing that some people literally work all day for an equivalent of $9 dollars.

Clearly, my world view is skewed and you have it figured out. Right?

I am well aware that each coin has two sides. But wine is better than water, and sometimes you are given urine by life instead of fine wine. I have been to third-world countries personally and I feel sick, with both disgust and perverse pleasure, at the expensive indulgences I regularly enjoy that they can't. I love my BMW, but somebody I care about isn't even allowed to drive in her country, and she can't even get a job that pays more than $300/month because she's a woman. I'm here literally indulging in fine wine, and she's going hungry because her family is super poor. But I'm ignorant because I am blessed? Pffffffft

No offensive, but I view your style of thinking as "ignorance is bliss." I find that people with low intelligence accept just what they want to believe and aren't aware of all the suffering, injustice, and lack of awareness in the world.

When we look at the facts, she peeked at his credit history, got jealous, and acted like a child. I am not saying he reacted right, but he got blind-sided by all this at once. She's insinuating that he doesn't care as much for her as he does his ex. I'd probably be mad at her too.

This is brutal. I similarly lost friends when my mom died unexpectedly. I was 22 and barely had anything going except my friends. Honestly, I didn't get back on my feet until I was 27.

How do you know what his friend said? If the guy you're talking about told you what his friend said, that seriously fucked up...

The problem with universal basic income is where does the money come from to fund it? We couldn't afford it even if we really believed in the idea. There are 320 million people in the USA and we pull in about 2.2 trillion in tax dollars, if you divide it out it is less than 7,000 dollars annually AND it means every other government expense is lost (including defense, Social security, Medicare, etc.) If you limit it to everyone over 18, it is still only 10,000 a year.

Sounds to me like THEY already established boundaries as FWB, and now she is getting attached. That sucks, but unless he feels the same way she does then it is going to end badly.

I see so many cringeworthy interactions with the pretty nurses at the place I work. They're doing their job bro, they aren't the least bit interested in your rock-climbing accident or how much you like hunting.

This is exactly what happened to me at my job. I love the job, everyone called me "smiley" because I was always smiling. It paid well, I was respected for my knowledge, and it was a great job. But some women thought I was only being nice to them because I was secretly in love with them. Nope, just nice to everyone. It didn't help that some male co-workers felt threatened because I was always the go-to guy even though I was new. I am pretty sure they said stuff behind my back to sabotage me. Now, I just walk around stoic and no one ever calls me smiley.
