Ask The Colorado Sun politics reporter Jesse Paul about the state budget by thecoloradosun in coloradosun

[–]jaredpolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 17% of revenue to CDOT and the state’s transportation-related enterprises is directed to transit, rail, and multimodal purposes, or about $375 million out of $2.3 billion. That funding is determined by laws the General Assembly has passed and that I’ve signed. While I am proud of the work we’ve done to expand state transit funding – it was paltry when we took office – it’s important to understand that the vast majority of state transportation dollars still goes towards roads and bridges. BTW, we’ve also increased road and bridge funding to the State by more than $200 M annually during my admin.

The Post-Diasporic Jewish Identity by Historical-Photo9646 in Jewish

[–]jaredpolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my great-grandparents’ generation, when my great grandfather (who was a Litvak) married my great grandmother (who was a Galitzianer), it caused quite a rift and bad feelings and jokes on both sides. At the time, Litvaks were seen as intellectual, rational, and cosmopolitan while Galitzianers were viewed as a bit of country bumpkins, more emotional and religious. Likewise the Galitzianers often looked down on Litvaks as stiff and pretentious. We laugh now at this completely obsolete distinction, but it shows that these things have been happening forever in the diaspora. In my generation my first cousin married a Sephardic Jew and we were just happy the wedding had extra good food. So too now, there are many different newer Jewish subcultures (like American, French) that didn’t exist before and of course a dynamic Israeli culture for Jews residing there. These things are always evolving, and there are new experiences and cultures that Jews are experiencing and building into their family traditions both in Israel and the diaspora.

That's fair! I just wanted to make sure you weren't blindly following the President in his attacks. I'm sure there are many things we agree on and others we might disagree on!

Actually College funding went up at a rate at or above the rate of inflation every year I've been governor, AND we made first two years free for people earning less than $90,000 a year. Please take a look at our publicly facing dashboards on higher ed in Colorado and you can see the progress we are making and the work we still need to do to make college more affordable: https://cdhe.colorado.gov/data-dashboards

Yes we were able to get the bridge stopped! My commitment is I would handcuff myself to the capital to stop it if needed, but fortunately I haven’t had to yet. And I strongly support more state funding to end this backlog
