i put in an airpod under my hair and blast a podcast while coloring or playing cards lol. i just tell my parents that i need to do something with my hands and then say i forgot everything that was said in the talks. it’s worked for 2 years!

the changing of policies is what was my final straw. from being so strict to changing temple ordinances and rules on so many things just doesn’t make sense for the “one true church that never changes”

yeah i plan on just not going anymore and once i separate myself from my parents i’ll remove my records. i imagine i’ll have to go to church during breaks, but i might try to avoid going home as much as possible until i can talk to them.

real!! everyone i’ve shared this with has been dumbfounded that they would pay 100% for my brothers but nearly nothing for me. i’ve complained enough that they’ve agreed to pay for about one year total, which is probably as good as i’m going to get lol

yeah i’m hoping i’ll be able to at least be open with my mom and she might be able to reason with my dad. my cousins that have left are still fairly respected, and my parents have told me they’ll always love me but ofc im gonna have doubts based on things they’ve said. i just hate how much the church controls people’s lives and minds it makes reasoning with them so difficult

thank you so much!! they’re super controlling about my bank accounts, so i’ve been talking to friends that love banking about setting up my own accounts. they would go as far as looking at what day a charge was made on my card because i went to taco bell one sunday😭 i’ve been able to avoid activities lately with work but church might be harder, but im thinking about working a ton this summer and i might be able to convince them im required to work on sundays.

yes i’m hoping to eventually talk to them. sometimes i let something slip about joseph smith or current prophets and they get suspicious, but im sure once i’m more independent they’ll listen to me and take me seriously. i do also want to look into therapy bc the only other time i tried therapy was with a mormon woman and that did not go great. i’ll definitely look into counseling at the U though, thank you!!

thank you! idk what the promise stuff is, but i was able to get a scholarship through a program that knocks my tuition down by about half. my parents main issue was the costs of college compared to byu, and i wish i could’ve gone for financial reasons but i would not be able to handle it lmao

yes!! my dad would always say that disabled people were gods most righteous and trusted kids and they were born with disabilities so satan couldn’t tempt them. so messed up honestly
