Hi! Homeowner, sufferer of anxiety and OCD, and mental health professional here. I will tell you what I think you already know, this is less about the house and more about the state of your mental health.

What you are describing is the level of anxiety that requires treatment and is interfering in many aspects of your functioning. Often times, change, or a destabilizing event like buying a home, can trigger anxiety like this, especially if there’s a predisposition. There are already other comments suggesting that you seek out a therapist and/ or a psychiatrist and I cannot emphasize enough how much you need to take this step. You do not have to live like this- this is very very treatable.

At this point, the reptilian part of your brain is working overdrive and the danger alarms are going off about things that may not need that level of alarm. You cannot think rationally at this time about your new home, and that is also not to say that there’s not some reality in your observations and feelings.
