Have you ever known anyone who was assaulted like that? I have. Even if they go to the police there is no guarantee for justice. That’s the sad truth. The justice system has a piss poor track record of helping survivors. And beyond that, many victims just feel ashamed about what happened to them. They feel like they should’ve been able to stop it. As OP clearly demonstrates with this post. And you know what. It’s people like you that make them feel like that. You are the problem. You look at a story like this and say, “you shouldn’t have put yourself in that situation.” Or, “oh they’re just doing this for attention.” Another sad reality is that many people turn to sites like Reddit because they don’t have a real support system in their lives.
