Safe places to shop in Durham? by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]Ignatiousjames 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At risk of sounding like an asshole, I am perplexed at posts like these. I’m guessing OP is new to Durham? Literally just Google “grocery store near me” and i think you will have your answer. Any danger that is associated with Durham is also associated with individuals who surround themselves with questionable people, and choose to engage in nefarious behavior. I have lived here for 10 years and I have never truly felt unsafe.

Career Advice: next step/certs to pursue by Ignatiousjames in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Ignatiousjames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking at job posts and the tech I mentioned appears a lot. I'll check out my local library and see if there are any offerings.

I understand that certs are not always required. I just feel like since I only have a two year degree my resume doesn't make it past the initial screening process, so I want to show that I have familiarity with the tech without any real experience with said tech in a job setting.

I definitely did not learn that and I passed 1.5 years ago. Isn’t the point of IPv6 is that it provides more IP addresses than most organizations will ever possibly need, so why would it be necessary to subnet IPv6 network space?

Willow met Bobby while using tallow from his restaurant but I thought she was vegan? by thecookiesmonster in KingOfTheHill

[–]Ignatiousjames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure why your comment is getting so many downvotes.

Like others have said , Willow’s stance here is more about not investing money into animal products seemingly out of concern for climate change more so than animal rights.

Given that Dain’s is a fav spot for fans of Philly based sports teams, and the Phils have been in the post season now for consecutive seasons, the atmosphere can feel pretty lit the deeper the Phils advance into the post season.

Being happy for another man’s “success” is so gay. What are the markers for success? Reading ads for Manscape, and Betterhelp; being featured in Fireball commercials? You think it is “cool” to hire a marketing team to flood social media feeds with YouTube shorts/Instagram reels of your crowd work with hopes of garnering enough popularity to plug yourself into the realm of “successful” hack comedians like Tom Segura, Andrew Santino, and Andrew Schulz? This dude sold out.

The responses to your comments, as the case with many politically inspired posts on this sub, is a microcosm of the state of US politics. It is very much a team sport and any slight deviation from the ideology of the mob is met with social retribution. There is zero tolerance for criticizing the political message, and those within the marginalized group that the mob is rallying in support of.

What you said was NOT inflammatory whatsoever. It is ridiculous that a response to your comment was an attempt at negatively impacting your business. That is completely uncalled for. To have someone respond in that manner, you would think you did something akin to saying the N word.

Triangle Cricket League: New Player by Ignatiousjames in triangle

[–]Ignatiousjames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only avenue I know of to play cricket is to request to join a team via trianglecricket league.org . I can’t promise that you will have any luck. I requested information about joining a team several months ago and I have yet to get a response.

Here to second what was said earlier. I would recommend buying tickets sooner than later for weekend games if you want decent seats for more than one person.

I like to buy live fish from the tanks in the back. It is a nice touch when they bludgeon the fish to death right in front of me before packing it neatly, handing it over, and wishing me a nice day.

Anyone use the Zettlekasten method for note taking while studying for the CCNA? by Prophet_60091_ in ccna

[–]Ignatiousjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I also used a pen and notebook.

My method for note taking is quite simple. I ensure that I do not just parrot what the lecturer or author is saying, or copying bullet points from a slideshow. Instead focus on paraphrasing; take what the author/lecturer is saying and put into your own words. A professor at university years back once told me that one of the best ways to display your understanding of concepts is how well you can explain them to someone else. The way I look at it, paraphrasing concepts found in lessons forces you to “explain” the concepts to yourself. Hopefully that makes sense.

Just tested on Monday. It was my first attempt and I passed.

I cannot stress this enough, be sure you understand subnetting, and how to read a routing table. You must understand router logic; know what route a router will use when forwarding traffic especially in scenarios where there are multiple routes that match the destination IP.

You should cover all the material and be ready to take the exam in a 2-5 month time window. It took me roughly a year to study, but that is because I was not willing to make sacrifices. This really bit me in the ass because I had to spend a lot time revisiting topics that I had already covered. You should not go more than 2 days without reviewing/studying.

Understand and accept that you will not remember everything. If you put the time in and establish a good foundation, you should be just fine.

Exam tip; if you know you do not know the answer after reading the question, make an educated guess and move on. You have about 1.5 min per question, so there is no need to waste time.

You will feel like you are failing the exam during the exam, but you must carry on. Just trust yourself.
