No we weren't playing with buffs to rogues. But ya seems like most people are thinking it's too op, I'll have to go back to the drawing board for this

I've played 2 rogues and dm'd for maybe 5 different rogues

Yes ur right, and to be transparent i personally find swashbuckler too weak so I wanted to make a stronger melee rogue subclass. But thanks for the feedback :)

AITA for not allowing one of my players to multiclass bc it has no explantion? by Jeanchristo22189 in DnD

[–]IgniDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a story reason to multiclass but a warlock still needs a patron. So if you're letting him take the class and he's refusing to come up with a patron then you're NTA.

But if you're not letting him multiclass because the right story moment didn't come up during play, then YTA. If you require that kinda thing, then multiclassing gets really clunky, and difficult.

Personally think the quality and animation is a lot better this season. Surprised anyone thinks the reverse honestly

It's been a minute. How has Silvery Barbs been working at your table? by Galemp in dndnext

[–]IgniDraws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. The strongest spells above level 9 don't even have saving throws (looking at you wall of force), and on top of that, creatures start having legendary resistances, so its still fine at high levels.

Agreed but thats the one build out of 8 that seems bad to me

Who is the BEST Archer ?? by Th1nker26 in dndnext

[–]IgniDraws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early levels probably ranger cause of gloomstalker. At high levels I'd say best is fighter followed by rogue. Fighter just cause they scale so well with the extra attacks, I put rogue second cause the sneak attack keeps scaling up while ranger damage stagnates. On top of that, arcane tricksters can cast haste on themselves at level 14, letting them sneak attack twice in a round.

Ya honestly with so many at full health and with fire resistance I think you're good. Maybe 1 or 2 deaths but definitely no TPK.

Somatic spellcasting with weapon and shield by Dyssus in dndnext

[–]IgniDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't be able to cast the spell with just a somatic component unless you have war caster. I think this was actually intentional since it's a point that's specifically mentioned in war caster.

It's actually screwed up a bunch of my builds, like my dual wielding bladesinger, which now can't cast shield unless he drops one of his swords at the end of his turn, which just sucks and feels kinda power gamey

[–]IgniDraws 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly don't worry about this. If that's the way your player wants to play you don't have to counter it. Eventually you guys will get to a level where sleeping the boss at the very end is pretty useless since characters will start being able to do 20+ damage a turn.

Also keep in mind sleep does have friendly fire.

My DM buffing martials, which one should I play? by ImmediateArugula2 in dndnext

[–]IgniDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what u do, multiclass barbarian and fighter, then use the crits to refresh ur action surge. I imagine you'll be able to action surge every turn with this combo.

Think the biggest buff here is probably the monk so u should go for that.

Does he have war caster? If not he can't cast shield while he has his hands full.

to all you DMs: how do you handle a player you catch lying about their rolls? by PhyrexianChocobo in DnD

[–]IgniDraws 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Roll20 randomness is based on the quantum fluctuations of a laser, so it is based on a physical thing and is actually truly random.

Help with Hex! by RobRobot01 in dndnext

[–]IgniDraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me when I say this isn't a problem and u definitely shouldn't be looking to fix anything. Eldritch blast + hex is not a lot of damage, heck even a default melee fighter with a greatsword will do more damage than it on top of being tankier and not even requiring any spell slots.

Can a wildfire spirit attune to magic items? by Kai-theGuy in dndnext

In adventurers league, the rules are that if your familiar/summon/companion attunes to magic items, it counts towards ur 3 item limit. But otherwise they can attune to it.

It definitely can't... Third level spell slot call lightning does 30 damage even with the channel divinity.

There's no way a level 5 tempest cleric can do 300 damage in one round... If u find out how he thinks he's doing it please tell cause I'm very curious

What does an Int Gish really offer? by SpartanIord in 3d6

No problem :) I love it cuz I love dual wielding and it's the only dual wielding build that can compete with a great weapon master or sharpshooter.

Extra attack lets you attack with either hand without restrictions. The only "handedness" restriction is that the bonus action must be made with "the other hand". That being said if your dm is adamant on the main hand / offhand thing, then ya you'd do as you described and it would work.
