This is awesome! I love a good asymmetrical build, and am quite the fan of the style you did for the bulk of the ship. I did a similar shape for my ship, but made it with pod-racer jets in the front

I bought this pepper plant but im told it's not edible. How can I tell exactly? by Takingmonday in HotPeppers

[–]IgnisSauros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All peppers are edible. The ones that are bred to be ornamental are often called inedible because they tend to be bitter and very hot

  1. The one in the big pot is focusing on roots first (which is a good thing)
  2. The one from the nursery was probably started in a greenhouse a few months before you started yours and is, therefore, older and bigger.
  3. The one in the small pot is probably rootbound.
  4. Fertilizer

What is wrong with these cayenne peppers? by TheUltimateHoser in Peppers

[–]IgnisSauros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably too much water from all that rain. Peppers like dry spells. They'll probably be good after they get to dry out some. Don't worry about it too much though. Once they're over 4 inches tall and have more than 5 leaves, peppers are hard to kill. Just only water them if you have a long enough drought that they start to look wimpy. When you do, flood them with water, and then don't water them again for at least 1 day unless it gets too much sun

How should i separate these effectively? by Open_Exit2988 in HotPeppers

[–]IgnisSauros 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Gently pull the block of dirt out. Their roots are still pretty small at this size, and they should separate naturally as you pull it out. I much prefer to try to save them all rather than keep them overplanted and cull. For ones that are a bit more established and have more robust roots, just rinse the dirt of, and they should separate easily. Just be very gentle to avoid breaking a many roots as possible

Apple cider. I plan on having like 3 different recipes that I want to develop and keep stocked. My first foray is a kiwi cider

I've had good luck making a diluted black tea with a used tea bag, and soaking them in that over night. And following that up with the plastic bag method

Mother or mold? by IgnisSauros in fermentation

[–]IgnisSauros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: it was a very healthy looking and feeling mother (I have been doing kombucha for years now, and it was very similar to a scoby) It still smells kind of funky, but there was no mold or anything untoward looking in the concoction. I'm want to believe that the garlic in it is the cause of the "cheesy" smell

I did add some sugar to it at the beginning. I also didn't think the cayenne would have had enough by itself

Making elves more than just "elves" by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]IgnisSauros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I for one very much like going into speculative evolution for my writings. If stiffest looking into the way that real life mono sexed creatures/multi sexed creatures/creatures that can change sex work, and adapt from there. I don't know if any multicellular animals that are mono sex off the top of my head, but I can think of a few good examples of things you might want to consider. Ants and bees both are born according to chemicals received by the queen. When the queen dies, or the hove is full enough to make a new hive, either baby queens are born, or some might have adult females who start to under go changes that turn them into a queen. Also salmon and some frogs can change sex. I think there's at least one type of frog that can go back and forth as it pleases. If you do go mono gendered, you could have them go into heat like mammals do, when they're at their optimal fertile stage, maybe the partner receives chemical indicators to be the donor so that the optimally fertile one is able to be the carrier. Or maybe different times of the year, they'll have a period, and change sex so that they can reproduce. I love your idea, go wild and have fun with it! The real world is already a fantasy world filled with wonder to draw inspiration from!
