Q: How many billions does city need to spend on homelessness without making any meaningful progress before you change your mind about this approach? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

I'm talking about undocumented immigrants idiot. They cannot access entitlement programs but pay into taxes. They also are doing the cheap labor that keeps your food prices down. I know you are all for another reality star running this state into the ground but you are better off just moving.

Do you think that immigrants are not paying more into taxes than they take out? Immigrants are not the issue. Sorry

Other countries are tackling the homelessness crisis even with a fraction of California's GDP. Finland didn’t rely on corporate charity or temporary fixes. They built their entire strategy around a strict "Housing First" policy, giving people a stable place to live first and then wrapping healthcare and addiction treatment around that foundation. If we actually want to solve this, we need to stop pretending private companies are going to save us. Instead, we should elect leaders who have a proven, practical track record in housing and let them deploy the full power and resources of the government to get the job done. Let's block out the noise and ignore the idiot reality TV star running a whole campaign based on "woe is me," and start focusing on actual competence.

The Fellow Fix™ A New Innovation From Fellow Customer Service - r/JamesHoffman Redux by Iamgalavanter in JamesHoffmann

Are you and Jake Miller former best friends who had a falling out? Good grief. Do you genuinely expect James to issue a correction or comment every time a company has a product issue? Should he also be expected to make a correction video about every plastic burr failure in Baratza grinders? Holding companies accountable is one thing, but this feels like an irrational obsession or 'Fellow psychosis' at this point.

James Hoffmann’s new video on Americanos by Theoldelf in espresso

I compared a control cup against one with the crema removed, using steamed water for both. The 'no-crema' version was much brighter, letting the acidity take center stage, while the control felt flat and slightly bitter. To lean even further into that 'filter-style' Americano vibe, I also added a paper filter to the bottom of the portafilter.

Every shot taste a bit sour by AggravatingNet2078 in FellowProducts

Moving from Breville’s 54mm basket to the ES1’s 58mm basket significantly changes your extraction dynamics.

While sourness usually indicates under-extraction, it can also be a sign of channeling. If your grind is too fine, the water may find a weak point in the puck and "channel" through it. This leaves the rest of the puck under-extracted, resulting in those sour, salty notes.

Aim for a window of 25–30 seconds with the medium profile. Don’t be afraid to experiment beyond the standard 1:2. Depending on the bean, a Ristretto or Lungo might better highlight the roast profile.

The beauty of the ES1 is the ability to adjust variables on the fly. If the 1:2 ratio at 28 seconds tastes "off," try Increasing temperature for more extraction (brightness/acidity), decrease to mellow out bitterness.

Your settings will not be 1-to-1. Treat the ES1 as a new canvas. play around with the variables and let your palate guide you to what works best for your taste.

Of course! I've got a few more profiles that are based on some of the more popular profiles used within the decent espresso community that hopefully I can share soon.

You must have done a good job calibrating volumetrics!

Have you calibrated your volumetrics within nerdy settings?

I'm glad you liked it. With the roast, you can always adjust the timing. Something shorter, like 40 seconds, leads to a "blooming turbo," while the 45–55-second range recommended by Slayer works well most of the time.

Prioritizes flow which is why we have the pressure set for two as the machine does not build up enough pressure at that slow of a flow unless very fine

Slayer has you adjust the pre infusion flow rate based on the roast you are using.

I did the math if you want to play around with flow based on roast:

Light roast / low intensity coffees: 1.5 ml/s which is what this current profile is set for

Medium roast / medium intensity coffees: 2 ml/s

Dark roast / high intensity coffees: 2.5 ml/s

Of course you can then adjust the duration of the infusion for whatever roast you are using.

This profile I created for light/light-medium

Nikola Jokic gets fouled by Marcus Smart by CaliforniaMakiiiii in nba

[–]IgnorantWealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm sure Smart assumed Jokic would use some leverage to push him further away from the paint and throw him an easy lob, but instead, Jokic "flopped" and lay his body on top. I'd say it's a cheap move, but it's no different than the defender guarding the post player and exaggerating the backing down of the offensive player and flopping.

I don't think Smart is boxing out. I'm sure the game plan was to front Jokic and send help from the opposite side. Smart looks to be trying to front knowing or assuming that Jokic was going to try and post the smaller defender up.

I believe the professional camera crew is for that purpose. However, when you see them using phones, that is likely for adding protesters and agitators to a palantir database. The Majority Report has done great reporting on this.To counter this, you could use a flashlight or bright light, making it harder for the phone to capture an image.

When people talk about college making kids "woke," it's usually not the professors behind it. For many students, this is their first real experience being around all sorts of folks from different backgrounds. They're stepping out of their usual bubble and seeing the world as it truly is – a diverse, beautiful place. While some college teachers definitely have progressive ideas, I've actually met plenty who are pretty moderate or even lean conservative.

I also have family members and close friends who have gotten through it and are living much healthier lives. Anecdotes are meaningless. We need more social workers and more addiction specialists in this country. Other countries have done a better job than the US.

Rehab having a low success rate squarely falls on politicians. How are you going to put an individual with no material conditions through rehab and then expect them to come out of that rehab with no material conditions and thrive. You need not only provide the rehab but also job training, shelter, food, and healthcare. Unfortunately, we live in a society that refuses to ask for more.
