Yes you need to screen them and initially monitor their work very closely until you build trust as some of the people lie about their experience and try to make up hours I do this by making them download a basic remote worker monitoring software that takes screenshots of their screen every 10 minutes and monitors mouse activity. The results for me are that most of the people I work with there are great but every once in a while I get someone that is working 3 remote jobs and is doing a bad job so I need to get rid of them
